oceanbornangel is right, she is half-vulcan/half-romulan and she isn't spock's daughter. Later on in the beginning of the fourth movie, they shot a scene in which she was pregnant with Spock's child because of her 'help' with his pon farr. also, in the book series, they get married.
it doesn't make much sense. Yes if she was brought up in an awful enviroment it would affect her but being half romulan shouldn't mean anything after all they are practically the same species. Spock should be far more volatile.
Spock was brought up as a vulcan. Had he been brought up on Earth, he'd be hard put to control his emotions! Vulcan (and romulan I suppose) emotions are more dangerous than human emotions.
Yes Saavik is half Romulan. I have a novel where Spock encounters her for the first time called The Pandora Principle by Carolyn Clowes, where Saavik is just a cadet
In the Star Trek 2 Novel, Saavik had a back story of being raised on a planet called Hellguard and hint of romance was started between her and David Marcus at the end of the book and expanded in the the Trek 3 Novel. Also there was a scene written in the Space Pod with Kirk mentioning Sulu's promotion to Captain and taking command of the Excelsior, but this scene was dropped in the final cut of the movie. Also the novel expands on Peter Preston's crush on Saavik and her feelings when he dies.
I've heard of a deleted/cut scene where Kirk promotes Sulu to Captain which they, especially George Takei, say that it just didn't quite work out too well.
Yes you heard right. In the book, they do say she is half romulan. Dr McCoy was running a test and he said that her blood type showed up half Romulan. There is a book that tells the story of Spock finding her as a child, rescuing her from a prison type camp, there was a bunch of half Romulan children there. The Romulans where experimenting with mixes the races. Spock took a year leave to help her recover, he was her mentor. If you watch the end of ST2 she was crying.
Deleting this was wise.
But not Robert Wise.

So that would Spock part Vulk, part Rom, & part human! What a mut! lol
gamesith 3 years ago
Wrong! He is only Part Vulcan and part Human. While Romulans and Vulcan's are related species-wise, Spock is not part Romulan.
