Lucky lucky me that I got to see this. Thank you for sending me the link. I'm sorry this email got buried in my inbox. But I found it. I feel a certain privilege to see a piece of work in process, but I also see a sincerity in his lyrics and performance that is unmistakable. Thank You very very much
I guess i like Mack the Knife, and why not, rite.. but of course, as so many say here, anything Darin did, he did with his great individual style and intensity. really beautiful and one of the forever -bests.. thank you for sharing this.. it IS rare
Thanks for sending Bobby our way , he was tops, classy and a very talented singer, I went to see Connie Francis on my Prom Night in NY, and he was at the audience, it was one of the best moments of my life. Will always love you Bobby, and we miss you!
Besides his amazing talent his heart was with the people in need, he became very progressive and if he were alive he would be part of OWS. His spirit is with us today.
yes, he was pretty special. my favorite songs are dream lover and if i were a carpenter. and it is a fact his IQ put him the genius category. i love the love story between ha and sandra dee too. i liked her work equally.
wow! thanks for sending this to me. bobby was a true genius. he was a musical visionary. he could do it all. thanks again. he was one of the greatest performers of all time. i remember the day it broke on the radio that he had passed away. i was in 6th grade. it was near the holiday season. school had just let out for Christmas break. i will share this to my facebook page.
This is the great thing about youtube- a whole new generation is exposed to great talent. A video with Dodd Darin shows up next to this clip and you can really see how much he resembles his father. Sad to think it's been so many years since he passed away...
That had all the makings of an ideal answer song to Del Reeves' Girl On The Billboard. Not only that, but his brief run through of Malaguena is definitely right up there with Ritchie Valens' version. Bobby Darin never ceases to amaze. Pure genius. He is greatly, greatly missed.
@tsprague1.He may have been born with a bad heart, but died with a good heart.
Those responsible for killing good people, with good hearts, like "Bobby", have the filthy rotten hearts!
I don't believe people R born with rotten hearts, unless they are born into the Biuldeburger families, who don't give a shit about anybody but them!!
JFK, JFK Jr., RFK,MLK, John Lennon, Phil ochs, John Denver, & many many more, murdered & many 2 bit cover -ups, because when it comes from the top, U can do it cheap
THOSE BASTARDS WHO OWN & CONTROL THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY, (& GOV), ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PREMATURE DEATHS OF GOOD DECENT PEOPLE LIKE BOBBY & MILLIONS MORE!!
How R we going 2 get the Gov. 2 take tobacco out of TV & Movies?
Smoking is even in news clips!! NO need for it. Tell the person, this only takes 4 Min., please don't smoke,..simple?
But I am afraid it's like this, R U ready 4 this take?..Yes?...OK would you please light up!...BTW, fine, fine vid.
Wow! Songwriter, singer, dancer, musician, actor, and even did impressions too. (Which lots of people don't know.) Like they say - was there anything he couldn't do? I guess if you have to be an old guy like me, at least I lived during the time of early rock and roll legends and great performers like Bobby Darin.
@GoRetroGirl - socially conscious before it came into fashion??? Bobby Darin was alot of things and he certainly was socially conscious but there were plenty of ppl before him who were too.
Bobby Darin received the GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TONIGHT! His son Dodd Darin gave a beautiful speech on his behalf in yesterday's ceremony. It's on You Tube under " Bobby Darin Lifetime Award". Bobby was a versatile, multitalented genius!
Bobby was amazing what a talent this song is great if he didn't finish it maybe somebody should like Dolly Parton or Chris Christopherson that song should be recorded in his honor. I love Bobby Darin
Wow! The versatility of the man was simply amazing!! He could have done any music venue including country. How many people do we know today that could do that???
Did Bobby ever record this folk song??? It is really good. What CD or LP is it on??
I love Bobby's folk songs and that whole "hippy" phase he went thru. I know a lot of people didn't like his hippy look, but I feel he was sincere. He was also very productive with his songwriting.
Sorry, but I was waiting for him, and I probably saw him first. lol :) He was the most talented percformer I ever saw. Why was he taken from us so soon?
He's still underrated compared to the other greatests like Frank , Dean...he should be more rated!!

Back in the 50's I played his record of "Splish Splash" so many times you could hear 'Judy Don't Be Moody" in the background...
He died so young. RIP Bobby Darin.
