Idk man I've walked some 05-09 GTs with some bolt on exhaust and intake, no tune. Sure the vvti on my 2jz is a big difference on my n/a car considering the us supras didn't get them from the factory. But b16 is classic! Lol not even comparable to a 2j though.

@PABLOBARBICI Perhaps it's the 3.0 inline 6, the chassis that is built like a racecar. the internals of the 2JZ-GTE that aren't even forged (argue it, it's called preforge. metal mixtures, NOT HARDENED) and are still good to safely push 800hp to the wheels as a daily driver, RECORD SETTING @ 1500hp on 1 pull without blowing. straight out of the FACTORY. the motor is perfectly balanced. the 6-speed straight out of the factory, is good to around 1000hp to the wheels. EVERYTHING IS DONE RIGHT.
I respect it for the crazy amount of power you can get out of a 3L Inline 6. lol Turbo lag sucks, but I've always been more of a top end person than a torque lover. @jtgranberry1 I'm not going to get in a dick measuring contest with you over a dumb video, however, I clearly heard 3 honks before the ZO6 gasses it, in both races, right before he puts a football field between you. He misses 5th in both races, and it still takes you a full 10 seconds to start "reeling him in like lake trout." For all intents and purposes, you lost. It's all about horsepower under the curve. I think in a standing quarter, this Vette would eat your lunch.
The reasoning behind saying that twins spool quicker than a single are based mainly on the physics of inertia, which say that inertia changes as the square of the diameter. This would make a single turbine with a bigger diameter have more inertia than smaller diameter twins with 1/2 the flow. This includes lots of assumptions, however, like the same efficiencies, compressor properties, etc., so it is very hard to generalize in the real world.

Everybody loves to say that twins will spool up faster than a single, since they are smaller...but DUH, you only have half of the engine spooling up each turbo, as compared to the entire engine spooling a single turbo.
It was the fact that my Cat back was cannibalized for another Supra that was for sale. I was given the choice of ANY exhaust for giving up my HKS Carbon Ti...I chose to have my buddy and I make mine CUSTOM at Full Race in Phx. I am VERY happy with the outcome and Burns SS muffler.

@racerxj220 not really... supras don't make power until that turbo kicks in, which in most cases with supras could be a while, the sudden push in power is impressive but you could do the same thing with mustangs, cobras, vettes, camaros... ect. And not only could you do it with those cars, 2 more cylinders is a big deal in the world of forced induction.. especially on a forged 4.6 or 5.4 cobra motor...

They outsold GM alright but the Supra never came close to the vette. The Supra was one of Toyota's biggest flops, that's why they are so expensive still. They made less than 12,000 total supras. Compare that to the near 90,000 300zx's sold or the 12,000 C4 corvettes sold PER YEAR, every year the supra was on the market. Back in the 90's it was a big heavy sports car with supercar shattering brakes but poor track manners and lots of turbo lag when compared to the competition.
@Pro60modman What are you talking about? The 300zx and C4 corvette didn't perform as well as the Supra in any form of performance stock for stock. The stock turbos didn't have massive turbo lag and neither was the handling. If the car was one of Toyota's biggest flops they wouldn't be going for as much as they are going for now, it would be a forgotten car like the Pontiac Aztek or something. Now this vid you are comparing the C5 Z06 which is 9 years newer than the 93 Supra.
I was referring to production figures... You forget the C5 vette came around in '96 and beat out the Supra on Road Atlanta '96-'98 in the R&T tests. The 300zx TT also posted better times at RA in R&T magazine during all 7 years of it's life. My father was quite the R&T enthusiast then and I've read them hundreds of times over the years. The Supra had good road holding and the best brakes ever seen on a road car but as a package it couldn't pull it all together on the track.
The biggest complaint about the Supra was it's 2000+ rpm turbo lag. It won one R&T track comparison at Leguna Seca where the Z actually came in nearly two seconds behind but the much cheaper 3000gt VR-4(1:05.5) and C4 Corvette LT1(1:05.9) were mere tenths behind the supra's 1:05.4. They didn't sell nearly enough of them because the other cars where considered better( the Z was insanely popular in the early 90's) and the Supra was $50k+. Toyota took a big loss on the project.
@Pro60modman Many of the people who bought them didn't buy them for the track but more so for the strip. When done right they are awesome at the strip but they are also easy to make dyno queens if you do not know what you are doing. Despite people complaining about their track performance there are many people who use them on road courses with great results. My friend has a 590rwhp Supra that he tracks all the time and does really well with. There are better road course cars but supras arent bad
Whats the point of a car thats quicker after 150 MPH? My only gripe about Big Turbo Supras.... Extreme Lag time and even brake-boosting just wears out parts so much quicker. Add cubes AND a big turbo's' and it's alot more street friendly.
@cantbsdave You can't beat big cubes and boost but you can make big turbo Supras efficient at lower speeds. Its all about getting the right turbo size and combination of traction. The Supra in this vid doesn't even look like its running right because there are vids of Supras making a lot less power than this one smoking Vettes that make much more power than the one in this vid.
In the beggining of the race my friend in his supra said he spun his tires but look before the vette slowed down the supra flew by his ass. SUPRAS all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He misses 5th in both races, and it still takes you a full 10 seconds to start "reeling him in like lake trout." For all intents and purposes, you lost. It's all about horsepower under the curve. I think in a standing quarter, this Vette would eat your lunch.

The reasoning behind saying that twins spool quicker than a single are based mainly on the physics of inertia, which say that inertia changes as the square of the diameter. This would make a single turbine with a bigger diameter have more inertia than smaller diameter twins with 1/2 the flow. This includes lots of assumptions, however, like the same efficiencies, compressor properties, etc., so it is very hard to generalize in the real world.

@PvtCain .. NOPE.. Yes, twins will spool faster than single.. But therefore its all depends on several factors...the size of the turbos, the size of the engine, efficiency of the exhaust system, etc.
Everybody loves to say that twins will spool up faster than a single, since they are smaller...but DUH, you only have half of the engine spooling up each turbo, as compared to the entire engine spooling a single turbo.

It was the fact that my Cat back was cannibalized for another Supra that was for sale. I was given the choice of ANY exhaust for giving up my HKS Carbon Ti...I chose to have my buddy and I make mine CUSTOM at Full Race in Phx. I am VERY happy with the outcome and Burns SS muffler.

nice runs dude in supra needs to focus on suspension mods more then engine mods. You can hear him spinning. tired of the supra jokes though. Any high hp car running crappy suspension setup and tires will run crappy. REGARDLESS of car make. Their 10 second bpu supras making 500bhp.

@racerxj220 not really... supras don't make power until that turbo kicks in, which in most cases with supras could be a while, the sudden push in power is impressive but you could do the same thing with mustangs, cobras, vettes, camaros... ect. And not only could you do it with those cars, 2 more cylinders is a big deal in the world of forced induction.. especially on a forged 4.6 or 5.4 cobra motor...

Scorpion, a greddy t78, makes almost the same power as a t67.
And as far as the "airplane turbos" comment goes, a t67 isn't a very big turbo at all. However! Don't take that as me downing the vette, I love me some vettes.
I just believe credit should be given where it's due. They're both great cars with great aftermarket potential. Faster car wins in the end tho.

They outsold GM alright but the Supra never came close to the vette. The Supra was one of Toyota's biggest flops, that's why they are so expensive still. They made less than 12,000 total supras. Compare that to the near 90,000 300zx's sold or the 12,000 C4 corvettes sold PER YEAR, every year the supra was on the market. Back in the 90's it was a big heavy sports car with supercar shattering brakes but poor track manners and lots of turbo lag when compared to the competition.

@Pro60modman What are you talking about? The 300zx and C4 corvette didn't perform as well as the Supra in any form of performance stock for stock. The stock turbos didn't have massive turbo lag and neither was the handling. If the car was one of Toyota's biggest flops they wouldn't be going for as much as they are going for now, it would be a forgotten car like the Pontiac Aztek or something. Now this vid you are comparing the C5 Z06 which is 9 years newer than the 93 Supra.

I was referring to production figures... You forget the C5 vette came around in '96 and beat out the Supra on Road Atlanta '96-'98 in the R&T tests. The 300zx TT also posted better times at RA in R&T magazine during all 7 years of it's life. My father was quite the R&T enthusiast then and I've read them hundreds of times over the years. The Supra had good road holding and the best brakes ever seen on a road car but as a package it couldn't pull it all together on the track.

The biggest complaint about the Supra was it's 2000+ rpm turbo lag. It won one R&T track comparison at Leguna Seca where the Z actually came in nearly two seconds behind but the much cheaper 3000gt VR-4(1:05.5) and C4 Corvette LT1(1:05.9) were mere tenths behind the supra's 1:05.4. They didn't sell nearly enough of them because the other cars where considered better( the Z was insanely popular in the early 90's) and the Supra was $50k+. Toyota took a big loss on the project.

@Pro60modman Many of the people who bought them didn't buy them for the track but more so for the strip. When done right they are awesome at the strip but they are also easy to make dyno queens if you do not know what you are doing. Despite people complaining about their track performance there are many people who use them on road courses with great results. My friend has a 590rwhp Supra that he tracks all the time and does really well with. There are better road course cars but supras arent bad

Whats the point of a car thats quicker after 150 MPH? My only gripe about Big Turbo Supras.... Extreme Lag time and even brake-boosting just wears out parts so much quicker. Add cubes AND a big turbo's' and it's alot more street friendly.

@cantbsdave You can't beat big cubes and boost but you can make big turbo Supras efficient at lower speeds. Its all about getting the right turbo size and combination of traction. The Supra in this vid doesn't even look like its running right because there are vids of Supras making a lot less power than this one smoking Vettes that make much more power than the one in this vid.
