I have a question, I'm playing my female human noble warrior right now...My character romanced Alistair and they're in a relationship and I hardened him in the process...Being that my character's a female human noble I have the possibility to marry Alistair and rule as queen, however I still want Loghain alive and joined in the Grey Wardens...Is it possible to marry Alistair and rule as queen but still keep Loghain alive in the process?
@letshaveadingdong I don't know. Why don't you save beforehand and just try out a bunch of different possibilities? That might be more fun... or tedious, I suppose. Entirely up to you. :)

He encouraged Howe's murderous and torturous behavior resulting in the death of a human nobles family (including a child), betrayed the King by retreating from the field resulting in the Kings death, sold elves into slavery, hired an assassin to kill me, imprisoned his own daughter (the rightful queen) so he could take power. He must die!
@StaticJolts Your problem, not mine. Loghain had nothing to do with the Cousland massacre. David Gaider confirmed this. Tactical retreat is not a betrayal. Other great leaders have condoned slavery as well (Elizabeth I., for one), I never took the assassins seriously, besides, that was Howe's idea. And he never imprisoned his daughter. Howe did.

@StaticJolts Oh, really, a senior Grey Warden disagrees with you. Being a Grey Warden is not an honor at all, only in fairy tales. Otherwise, why are kinslayers, traitors, carta thugs, blood mages, murderers (Duncan was conscripted after murdering a Grey Warden!) etc. welcome among them? Daveth, a condemned thief? Skill matters. And I COMPLETELY agree with Riordan. Read the DA novels. And your romantic ideals are sweet...but I prefer practicality.
The way I see it, its actually better to spare Logain and have him become a Grey Warden, because:
1) Following the Landsmeet, he has been exposed as a traitor, everyone now supports you and the Grey Wardens, and he has been defeated in combat. You have your revenge.
2) Killing him gains you nothing. Sparing him not only increases the Warden's numbers, but he gets a chance to redeem himself by helping you against the Darkspawn.
@JMDub89 Killing Logain gains justice, as King Calin is still dead due to Logain quitting the field. That was not a tactical retreat, but rather, a planned betrayal before the battle even began so he could seize power. And sparing him DOES NOT increase the Grey Warden numbers, as Alistair will leave you for sparing the life of Logain. Logain has to pay for his treachery. Alistair is also a friend, and Alistair wants to see justice for Duncan too. I will not betray a friend!
It doesn't increase their numbers only because Alistair can't let go of his hate. Like I said, Logain has already lost at that point; you beat him in combat, and exposed him for what he is. Another thing to note; it was that other Grey Warden who is with you (can't remember the name) who suggested Logain be recruited. He himself was tortured by Logain, yet he says to recruit him. Executing a helpless opponent after he has surrendered is something Logain would do.
Also, if you do recruit Logain, he expresses regret over his past actions, admits he was wrong, and wishes to redeem himself. If you talk to him, he says he wants to make the world save for his daughter, even if it costs him his life.

If I could, I would have let Loghain live, not exactly as a Grey Warden, but I wouldn't kill him. But I don't know why, BioWare didn't give you that option. I had a long discussion with Alistair and everytime is was kill Loghain or lose Alistair. Choice was easy for me.

But since my first playthrough of any morality-meter game is something in the neighborhood of "What Would Superman Do?" I went with Loghain on my first game. After several attempts to keep Alistair.

@SageVallant In the PC version, Loghain isn't a Grey Warden, therefore is not a candidate to die against the Archdemon, if I remember the storyline correctly.
@SPRS4 If you spare Loghain, losing Alistair in the process, then Loghain takes the Joining as "punishment". Which is what gets Alistair in a hissyfit and he leaves. Loghain survives and then you can let him take out the Archdemon. Everyone wins! And I even got Loghain laid in the process!
Man, I'm such a hero. Now, Leliana and I will be living happily ever after, without the fuss and muss of a demon-god-baby-thing.

Being her regent only led to problems as he knows nothing of diplomacy. (Both Maric and Anora were/are better at that) And he is relieved once that burden is off his shoulders. Esp. in his kick ass Awakening cameo. ;)))))

@Elisabetta611 I saw the Logain ending here on the tube. My moral and ethical code forbids me from showing mercy on such a treacherous person such as Logain. He encouraged Howe's murderous and torturous behavior resulting in the death of a human nobles family (including a child), betrayed the King by retreating from the field resulting in the Kings death, sold elves into slavery, hired an assassin to kill me, imprisoned his own daughter (the rightful queen) so he could take power. He must die!

@StaticJolts Your problem, not mine. Loghain had nothing to do with the Cousland massacre. David Gaider confirmed this. Tactical retreat is not a betrayal. Other great leaders have condoned slavery as well (Elizabeth I., for one), I never took the assassins seriously, besides, that was Howe's idea. And he never imprisoned his daughter. Howe did.

Logain should not be given the honor of becoming a Grey Warden, as he forfeited his eligibility by being so selfish in the first place. Sorry...I know this is a game.....but Logain is the perfect antagonist, as he is very easy to hate. ;)

@StaticJolts Oh, really, a senior Grey Warden disagrees with you. Being a Grey Warden is not an honor at all, only in fairy tales. Otherwise, why are kinslayers, traitors, carta thugs, blood mages, murderers (Duncan was conscripted after murdering a Grey Warden!) etc. welcome among them? Daveth, a condemned thief? Skill matters. And I COMPLETELY agree with Riordan. Read the DA novels. And your romantic ideals are sweet...but I prefer practicality.

The way I see it, its actually better to spare Logain and have him become a Grey Warden, because:
1) Following the Landsmeet, he has been exposed as a traitor, everyone now supports you and the Grey Wardens, and he has been defeated in combat. You have your revenge.
2) Killing him gains you nothing. Sparing him not only increases the Warden's numbers, but he gets a chance to redeem himself by helping you against the Darkspawn.
That's just my opinion, though...

@JMDub89 Killing Logain gains justice, as King Calin is still dead due to Logain quitting the field. That was not a tactical retreat, but rather, a planned betrayal before the battle even began so he could seize power. And sparing him DOES NOT increase the Grey Warden numbers, as Alistair will leave you for sparing the life of Logain. Logain has to pay for his treachery. Alistair is also a friend, and Alistair wants to see justice for Duncan too. I will not betray a friend!

It doesn't increase their numbers only because Alistair can't let go of his hate. Like I said, Logain has already lost at that point; you beat him in combat, and exposed him for what he is. Another thing to note; it was that other Grey Warden who is with you (can't remember the name) who suggested Logain be recruited. He himself was tortured by Logain, yet he says to recruit him. Executing a helpless opponent after he has surrendered is something Logain would do.

Also, if you do recruit Logain, he expresses regret over his past actions, admits he was wrong, and wishes to redeem himself. If you talk to him, he says he wants to make the world save for his daughter, even if it costs him his life.

@JMDub89 Yeah, AND he is making fun of Alistair. XD If I could I would have punched him straight in the face. But, oh well. It was kind of... interesting to play with Loghain... If I could, I would have let Loghain live, not exactly as a Grey Warden, but I wouldn't kill him. But I don't know why, BioWare didn't give you that option. I had a long discussion with Alistair and everytime is was kill Loghain or lose Alistair. Choice was easy for me.

@Mokurable Which is why so many people checked the vid, because it's really, REALLY hard to let Alistair out of the group. But since my first playthrough of any morality-meter game is something in the neighborhood of "What Would Superman Do?" I went with Loghain on my first game. After several attempts to keep Alistair.
Seriously, where's the "Someone has to die to kill the Archdemon. Loghain has to die anyway. 1+1 = Win" option? And how would Alistair argue with that?

@SageVallant In the PC version, Loghain isn't a Grey Warden, therefore is not a candidate to die against the Archdemon, if I remember the storyline correctly.

@SPRS4 If you spare Loghain, losing Alistair in the process, then Loghain takes the Joining as "punishment". Which is what gets Alistair in a hissyfit and he leaves. Loghain survives and then you can let him take out the Archdemon. Everyone wins! And I even got Loghain laid in the process!
Man, I'm such a hero. Now, Leliana and I will be living happily ever after, without the fuss and muss of a demon-god-baby-thing.

@SageVallant If you don't want a hissy fit, reunite Allistair with his sister and after that mess you can choose certain dialogue to harden him to the world and later when you spare Loghain he won't throw a hissyy fit. you still loose him for the party though as he then becomes king.

@Scrooth As I'm not someone who goes for the killing,which in my opinion is,if u really hate some1 like Alistair does Loghain a much 2 simple choice,I would probably behead Anora.Kidding.I don't know what I would do, but I still wouldn't kill him.I think living in shame is worse than killing Loghain.And I personally don't think that these things above were solely Loghain's fault.IMO Howe had more to do with it, besides maybe the inital betrayal, which, I believe, could still be related 2 Howe.

@Scrooth Cailan's death was his own fault and doing. If he disregards any advide against fighting on the front lines, he'll have to take the risk. Same goes for Duncan, ANYONE can die in battle. And Alistair had no relationship to Cailan. Eamon? The man who let Alistair sleep in the stables & ditched him into the chantry because of that bitch Isolde? And Loghain is not responsible for the Blight entering Ferelden. That would be the Architect. Alistair should learn to see the bigger picture.

@StaticJolts First of all, what does chivalry have to do with anything here? Besides, I am a woman, so my characters do not show chivalry. Honor is all fine and good as long as you can afford it. But there are choices in life, esp. as a ruler, that no one WANTS to make but that have to be made for the greater good. I can be as romantic as a Danielle Steele novel, however in such a crisis, noble tales of glory, honor and other inane nonsense have little meaning. ANYTHING to destroy the Blight.
