@BeastSoulEyes The ability to print money out of thin air is not a feature of capitalism - there has never been a system of fiat paper currency that was adopted on the free market, it can only exist with the threat of government violence backing it up. Fiat paper money benefits government and the well-connected elites. Fractional reserve banking benefits the banks. The combination of the two spells the death of any republic and certainly has nothing to do with capitalism.

I don't really know about your "government violence" thing especially when you consider that the Federal Reserve act independently and the bailouts were mostly the government trying to prevent the downfall of the credit economy. But I do agree that it serve the "elites" well.

For example, in my state (Indiana), a private citizen began issuing an alternative currency called the Liberty Dollar. This currency was backed 100% by gold or silver - the currency was growing in popularity, until the Feds kicked in his doors and took everything.

As I said, the only thing that give any value to money was at first the trust people had in it, now that they know they could lose that, the only other option is military power (because that's what it is in the end). And as always the Fed is in to defend their own interests and not the ones of the citizen.

The United States, the richest country in the world can't pay off their debt either.
