  • To everyone whinging about the demolition and people cheering, how about you stop being so damn sanctimonious?

  • if only the team was in it to

  • Hes just excited

  • Sianara cinergy field

  • Went there as part of a tour in 98'. The Reds were hosting the Cubs. While it's true alot of history took place there, there was nothing special about it.

  • I want to punch that guy who is whistling.

  • theyre cheering because its gone

  • I think that they're less cheering at the destruction, and more cheering at the fact that the engineers who designed the demolition did it right, and that the building actually collapsed as designed instead of doing something wonky like standing half-up.

  • 0:20 son inside the stadium> "Dad, I thought there was a game today"

the dad inside stadium> "Well we will get to see the players first." construction workers> "Here we go in 3,2,1,"

  • @xxRaiderxx1000 0:21 Dad in the stadium>" OH......."

  • i lost my wallet there :(

  • Godspeed, Riverfront. We had some great times together.

  • I agree why do people cheer ? This was a ballpark that saw the Reds win 5 Pennats

and Three WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Two All-Star Games, Aaron's 714 th home run,Perfect Games,No-Hitters,Rose's 4192 Historic Hit and countless other Major League Baseball's historic cornerstone events.

Why cheer when this grand old lady dies?

  • HEY I was on that riverboat! Though I was only about 10 at the time so I don't really remember the demolition but I sure as hell remember the stadium. I always thought it was funny that rarely ever did you see anyone in the red seats on the top level. Plus you couldnt hi them out of the park, but now at the great American ball park you can.

  • that was pretty impressive

  • i remember as a kid we would travel from ft. wayne to riverfront see the big red machine back in the mid 70's. one time a guy barfed from the edge of the upper deck onto the folks below. good times.

  • I totally heard Cousin Eddie there.

  • I was cheering when it was demolished. The history and memories will live on and GABP. Is perfect. Riverfront/Cinergy was a shithole.

  • Comment removed

  • Nobody seems to notice that the section on the right is still standing...

  • @HarvestmanMan that would be GABP

  • wtf thats my house

  • i think this was not the best view

  • Derringer's "Demolition" would've been so sweet to go with this.

  • Dumb people cheering they're own funeral for Big Red Machines house. So sad.

  • they put it under the how to and style category.

  • Saw many a Reds game there. Drank many a beer. Riverfront served its purpose.

  • kinda a different feel from the demolition of Cleveland Stadium

  • i think the guy cheering the loudest had a mullet, handlebar mustache, a budweiser sleeveless shirt, and was also raising a can of bud the entire time

  • @Mitch08320 Haha. Sounds about right to me.

  • Explosion not an implosion...

  • who cheers to see their stadium explode?

  • What really make this sad, is the Guy on LSD in the background whistling.

  • ah good time... i hate red and i am a cincinnatian... when i saw it go down i cheered like hell :D

  • I guess the Steelers will be playing their home games at a Pittsburgh Central High school?

  • Where there people taking pictures on that building or was that just a reflection of the explosion?

  • My God, STFU with the damn whistling! At least save it for the actual implosion!

  • Oh boo fricking hoo! So what if people cheered?

  • When Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was demolished, nobody cheered. The Braves had a lot of memories from that stadium including but not limited to Hank Aaron's record breaking homer, 1995 world series game, etc. I almost got a chance to see a game there in 1993 just before I turned 5 but the tickets were sold out I think so we went to Six Flags instead.

I'm sure the Reds have a lot of memories because they have had great teams in the past. No need to cheer.

  • They left half still standing..what a crappy demo job.

  • Funny, but watching this I don't feel like cheering. Old Riverfront Stadium was a special place. It seems wrong to listen to people cheer it's destruction.

  • This was clearly a terrorist attack, which makes me very suspicious as to why the people there were counting down and cheering. They should have been detained for questioning.

  • @randomname349 uh ever hear of CONTROLLED IMPLOSIONS THEY WHERE NOT TERRORISTS THEY CLEARED THE AREA.

  • @randomname349 You're an idiot. I was on the river boat in the video and it was a scheduled demolition so we could begin building 2 new stadiums.

  • yet Cinergy field isn't as historic as the old astrodome , Wrigley field , or Fenway park

  • dude y would you cheer i would be kinda said i mean that was were the Immaculate Reception happened this is the 2002 game vs Cleavland when Tommie Maddox took us on that game winning drive to win i mean there were great memories here so why would you cheer?

  • Cool-has a domino effect.

  • Cool-has a domino effect.

  • hahaha :21

    HELL YEAH!

  • This was filmed from the Kentucky side of the river so take that as you will.

  • So sad. I remember seeing this staidum everyday when I was a kid growing up in Cinci. Didnt know they demolished it tll this minute. Big bummer

  • why cheer at million hours of effort =./

  • Very sad....many historic moments gone with the stadium

  • i don't know. maybe i'm just old school, but it stinks to see some of these old stadiums torn down. riverfront, bush, comiskey. blah. something about it just doesn't seem right.

  • i completely agree, its such a waste of a such great achievments. Im glad im not the only one that thinks that.

  • Its not an "implosion" that is a scientific phenomenon.

  • cincinnati city council.

  • and what was wrong with this stadium?

  • @heatseeker213 As I recall they were building a new stadium next to it. I saw it on Discovery I think

  • probably the reds wanted to move to a new ballpark and the Bengals ignored playing at Cinergy field

  • They should've just use a Metal Gear.

  • It's too bad the Bengals weren't in the stadium at the time.

  • @kvarsity10 lol

  • @kvarsity10 That made me laugh pretty hard... Thank you.

  • Well the Great American ball park is a nice park, but River front was a classic, so I am a bit surprised people were cheering. Where do the Bengals play?

  • How do they make noise? I wanna cry !

  • that was cool

  • Really sad.

I miss Riverfront, the new stadiums are boring and lack character, as bad as Riverfront was aesthetically, you can't take away all of the incredible moments that took place there for 30 years. It's a unifying place Cincinnatians miss.

  • why would people cheer? i always feel a little sad watching a stadium implode. there are always great memories from those places and the reds had some great teams play there.

  • maybe theyr from the opposing team xD

  • @davidbfitz I think they cheer because implosions are so cool to watch! I think the big reason why Cincinnatti wanted those new stadiums for the Reds and Bengals was because River Front was not only out of date, but to everyone else it's the most boring looking stadium ever made! Even the Oldest football fields and Baseball parks still had a nice design, but look at this! It's so bland you would have no idea what played there!

  • @davidbfitz THEY ARE CHEERING CAUSE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT MEMORIES, WHICH MEANS THAT THEY ARE DOUCHE BAGS

  • no there cheering because they are the average american fat alcoholic that there only excitement in life is seeing things explode

  • @davidbfitz Plus, it's their tax money up in smoke, just to pay to build a new one... and they CHARGE you to go inside it!

  • @davidbfitz maybe they were all the rival team fans...

  • @davidbfitz i agree

  • @davidbfitz yeah people in cincy always know how to ruin the moment

  • @davidbfitz Because they like seeing it? What are you going to do, cry?

  • @davidbfitz People are turned on my destruction?

  • @davidbfitz Right on!

  • @davidbfitz Because it looks awesome.

  • @davidbfitz Because people live in the moment and enjoy life. Listen to that man. he sounds like he's havin a fucking blast. Memories die, and fade away. Life in the moment. The only reason this will be remembered in. say, 50 years is because it was caught on film

  • @davidbfitz Because we Americans are a nation of idiots!

  • The people are cherring because it is basically like watching a live bengals game and to meet some of the players just go to the Cincinnati state penitentiary

  • big deal the bengals IMPLODE EVERY WEEK AT HOME !

  • This was the Reds stadium

  • The Reds had great success playing there

  • Why are people cheering?! That was sad! They're sooooo dumb.

  • it may be sad, but it's a large explosion. people are bound to cheer.

  • Hell yes!

  • I still don't understand people cheering the demolition of a building where they shared so many memories.

I understand progress but if I were there I'd be sad - it would be like watching a funeral or something. To hear jerks cheering would really piss me off.

  • MikeStanley must never have had winning memories of his teams. Because thats how you send out a Championship Stadium. By Cheering.

  • Thank you! The Big Red Machine, the days of the consecutive World Series Championships were wonderful memories. A VERY expensive stadium was built for a team who now can't hit the broad side of a barn with a cow chip! This IS sad!

  • Cinergy Field was originally called Riverfront Stadium. Just to let you know.

  • hi whats up im only doing this to hear audio preview

  • Riverfront is Cinergy Field... .. name change... thats all

  • there probably gonna do this to yankee stdium

  • I miss riverfront, ever since we had great american we been cursed like forever. Will be cursed for a long time now.

  • No, ever since they pushed Marge out and Carl Linder took over the Reds we've been cursed.

  • sad day in baseball that....but cool

  • I still miss Riverfront Stadium...

I love the new ballpark... But the Big Red Machine and the 1990 team played there.

  • The 30 year old Riverfront Stadium needed to be replaced. It was not up to any MLB standard. It was not a ballpark, it was a stadium, made for football and baseball. The place smelled, it was dirty, and outdated. At the time, everyone in Cincy thought it was crazy to build two stadiums. But in hindsight, the right decision for the Reds, Bengals, and really the region.

  • now, if they could just get teams that are up to major league standards !!!

  • The Reds wont spend any money

  • why did they replace the stadium for the Great American Ballpark? Not that the new stadium isn't great

  • it was all politics

  • why do people clap and cheer at implosions?

  • you don't celebrate the 4th of july do you?

  • i do whats ur point?

  • i was in the front row watching that. very sad.thats the reds best years getting blown into the history books. were i was though most people were crying.

  • actually, this stadium was finished in 1970, and tore down in 2003... the reason they tore it down is they let the condition go to crap.. we ended up getting two new high tech fields out of it.. and this is shot from the kentucky side, so that explains the clapping... (rednecks love this stuff)... lol

  • Northern Kentucky is much like cincinnati. This was filmed from covington. I saw the whole thing behind the crowd. This stadium is where I first viewed the amazing sport of BaseBall.

  • Some old buildings are destined to come down some time in its life.

  • At 00:53 the smoke looks like a beaver head! Frecky!

  • yes that is true.

They are likly clapping for the demolition team. The demo team is not asked if they want to demo. they are just told to demo.

  • I was wondering that too. It's somewhat different with old buildings, but old stadiums have stories.

  • why are they clapping? that makes me sad, memories turned into dust. Should've remodeled the thing.
