Ok...I read through quite a few of the comments yesterday and was unable to sleep last night because I was scheduled to have the procedure done today. Everyone talked about how horrible the pain was and how Motrin was ineffective at helping. I actually called my doctor this morning to cancel because the comments had scared me. I'm glad my doctor talked me into coming in and having the procedure done. While it was extremely uncomfortable, the pain was definitely manageable...mild cramping only.
OMG i couldn't imagine if i hv to go see the doc to do this on me! does anyone here experience fertility problem like me? i mean, i'm married for over a year now but still no sign of pregnancy =(..i know this is the result from my obesity but truly i want to know what exactly happen inside my uterus.is it that the fats are blocking the way for the sperm to 'swim' to the correct destination or is it just the problem with the hormone? i'm so curious that i think i need to do an EB to figure out..
I had a EB done today and my doctor lied to me! She said there would be slight discomfort? OMG I tried not to humiliate myself by screaming BUT IT HURT!!!! I feel violated & butchered! That Sadistic will never see my vagina again!
This hurts like hell!!! I had this done when i was 16 because i had two cysts on my right ovary. Scariest and most painful experience at 16. *shudders*
Just had this done today. I would suggest a sedative. I have a very high pain tolerance, but seriously why would anyone just tolerate pain if it can be avoided.
I need to get this done ASAP and my doctor said that 600 mg of Mortin would do the trick with the pain. I had a cervical biopsy done and I wanted to climb onto the cieling it hurt so bad, so I am glad I came here. What is she refuses to give me anything for pain?
In my most recent biopsy the doctor spent well over 5 minutes trying to get past my cervix, so the worst part (the clamping) was insanely prolonged. It truly is an excruciatingly painful procedure. Yet I always get top marks for being a trooper. Essentially because I don't scream or sob, I guess? However, if the doctor thinks you need one, get one. If I had let some YouTube video scare me off I never would have discovered all the fun pre-cancerous cells on my uterus.
I am very disappointed that this procedure was not handled like a recent Colonoscopy, where I was given Valium to put me out for the procedure. Next time I see the DR. I am going to tell her.
@rkh720 I've had three endometrial biopsies. The first time hurt so bad that the next time I asked if I could have something for nerves. He gave me Xanax, which helped a lot.
I'm 19, and a proud virgin. But, I have irregular periods, I don't want to go on birth control, but I'd love to know whats wrong. But I refuse to go through with this, I already know it'd hurt waaay too much. I wish they could just give me some nitros, or anything to calm me down or knock me out. &These videos are just scaring me more... LOL
I had this domne today and it hurt, but it wasn't unbearable. I remarked that it felt like he had a little bottlebrush and was sweeping out my uterus with it--and the dr. said it was actually pretty close! There was cramping immediately...which got a little better after about 45 minutes--and then I bled some also...more than just spotting, but not like a period. It has been about 10 hours now and the cramping hurts worse now--but it kind of comes and goes, but worse than period cramps!!! :(
This is a simple procedure. It's true that it is uncomfortable, and there was some pain when he was taking the sample; however, it was over very quickly. I don't think it was even two minutes from stirrups to finish. Had it taken a long time, I could see needing some sedative, but this was very quick. They had me rest for much longer than the whole thing took. I felt some decent cramps, like menstrual cramps, while resting, but those passed in about five minutes.

Ok so apparently i have to go get this done just to be put on birth control an im terrified !!! im 18 .......i just dont understand why i have to do this just to be put on birth control?!?!?! please someone , of you kno please enlighten me !!!
@dementedsam what type of birth contrl? the coil? also depends why, is it because of irregular bleeding? or heavy periods? and dont be terrified, the waiting the waiting room is more terryfing than the actual procedure, most you will feel is pushing and a slight tightness, :) The staff are there to help you and not to cause you pain, ask any questions no matter how silly :)
@KassCraven I have absoultly have no idea what type ....thats what im going for and i am getting it for irregular bleeding ........bout mabe 3 months ago i was getting my period just about every other week an it would be really heavy , like i was just going to not worry about that but my mom wants me to go on it because i am sexually active with my boyfriend ......an if i tell th doctors that im not sexually active will that effect the type of birth control im on??? just curious!
@dementedsam Tell your doctor everything, maybe you have a polyp which is causing this irregular bleeding? or even endometreosis, I personally would ask the doctor everything, the pros and cons about the birth control, not only will it prevent you getting pregnant, birth control does improve bleeding, making it lighter and regular. treat your doctor like a professional friend. ask even things you feel are silly
@KassCraven Thank you sooooo much you absoultly have no idea how helpful you have been an i most deffinatly will ask questions ....again thank you :)!!!
@dementedsam you have no idea how many patients come petrified into hospitals too scared to ask questions because 'we know what we are doing' you need to remember it's your body, ask what is wrong, how can it help, and any alternatives :) Bit of a late reply :o but by now im sure you had it done and it all went well, x
@dementedsam Sweetie are you sure you need an "endometrial biopsy"? In order to get on birth control you need only a pap smear which is not the same procedure. Instead of sticking the long tube into the uterus & sucking out cells the doctor sticks a Q-tip type of device in & samples the cells. It's painless. Ask your doctor if you need an "endometrial biopsy" or just a "pap smear." I had this procedure endometrial biopsy done today without any pain medicine and it hurt but was tolerable.
@Aditi000 thank you but i honestly have no clue what there going to do to me but my mom was telling me this is what they were going to do to me an im just terrifid bout the whole thing !!!...part of my problem is i absoultly dont trust doctors i absoultly refuse to go to the doctors
Scary after reading the comments! I'll be getting this biopsy done while in surgery so I'm glad I won't be feeling any of that. Besides recovering from the incisions afterwards.
She had it done, she said it hurt like hell, and people in the waiting room could hear her scream. Thank goodness they gave her a valium first. She said it gave her "ASS CRAMPS" for an hour after.
I'm taking my gf to do this in a couple of hours. SO happy she didn't see the comments,on how painful it is. She's already nervous. I'll post a results comment after it's over. :(
It was traumatic, never thought it was that painful i almost passed out. My advice is have it done though anesthesia. Though the procedure takes between 5-8 minutes it's not worth the pain.
I had this procedure done and it was very uncomfortable but once it was over I didn't have much pain. A little bit of bleeding but I was able to go to work afterward. I took some Advil and that helped. Later that day I was feeling fine. I also found out I didn't have any cancerous cells - that was worth a little pain for a few minutes.
In 70s I had IUD inserted into my uterus. Excruciating. I think that passing something through the cervix is what causes most of the pain. The cervical opening is normally very tiny. Dilating the cervix for passage of any medical instrument causes a very sharp and intense pain.
@nucleusanimation...Can you explain why they give anesthesia for EGD and colonoscopy, but none for gyn procedures? Why no versed, no novocaine in cervix, no nothing?! These women are correct, it's just not right.
I have had this procedure done no less than four times (lots of fertility and menstrual problems), after the first one that hurt like heck, I learned to take the muscle relaxers about an hour and a half before so I was in the full swing of the drug's affect during and its not that bad.
I had this done 3 days ago, and I can not for the life of me figure out why this is done while we're awake! That's just wrong!
OMG it hurt so bad! I begged her to stop, broke out in a sweat;, cried like a baby and I'm amazed that I didn't pass out.... I am pretty sure I saw stars that haven't even been named yet. I will never have this done while I'm awake again -- it was brutal!!
For all the concern and advice to women: Take Advil or Ib profrin before this happens, at least 800 mg (4 - 200mgs) for about an hour before the appointment. It hurts, it's like a bad cramp in your life, but it's over and as soon as you get the point when you want to tell Dr. STOP, so hang in there, mainly because it is in good health. 50-10 min. the pain was worth it!
For all women's concern and for some advice: Take Advil or Ib profrin BEFORE having this done, atleast 800 mgs (4- 200mgs) about an hour before your appointment. It does hurt, it's like having the WORST period cramps in your life BUT it is over with as soon as you get to the point when you want to tell the Dr. STOP; so hang in there especially because it's for good health. 5-10 mins. of pain is worth it!
I had this done yesterday but unfortunately after 3 painful attempts the gynaecologist gave up, she said I had locked up (not surprised) I now have to be put to sleep so they can have another go :-((
oh no...i'm having it done in 3 days...i was curious as to how they will do this procedure and now that i know it's gonna be painful i'm scared as heck and thinking of not going through it
Yes, this is most definitley a very painful thing. They said I would have some mild cramps, but it felt more like that needle was going to come out of my throat. I let out a hollar and I know the women in the other exam rooms was probably wondering what was going on. I fought back the tears big time. I think they did it like 3 times. I spotted for a couple of hours after that. If I had know it was going to hurt that bad I would've asked for pain killers and a xanax. Never want to do that again.
males were born females at first and then in time.. we grew a penis.. that's why males have nipples.. it's cause we WERE females before turning into males. XD BUT it's ok don't feel bad we need females. :p
....Why....w-why did I c-c-c-c-c-lick on this? O_o.....If my girlfriend has to have this happen, the doctor must be gay or I'm gonna learn how to do this...
@TheThirdCockroach That comment is epic but I understand that who ever hack your account. But who ever did He or her rly make since this comment is rly takes the cake. (Just saying)
Just a truth they DO NOT tell you: This procedure HURTS LIKE HELL!!! This should NEVER be done to ANY woman without anesthetic; Worse than delivering either of my children and worse than a D&C, as well. I have never felt so VIOLATED by the misinformation and by the utter brutality of this procedure. They would NEVER do this to a man without heavy drugs, and it's unconscionable that they would a) lie to a woman about 'slight discomfort', b) refuse to give women drugs to make this tolerable.
@melpom4 I had this done today. When I heard my doctor say "biopsy" I knew it involved cutting something so I immediately asked "does it hurt" and she said "yes." I wasn't offered any pain medication and my doctor is fairly rough!!! I made some sounds and had someone hold my hand. Afterwards I thought I was going to throw up and faint. On top of that my doctor does not have a light touch! Her moving the specula around hurt too. Maybe I need to tell her doubt she'll soften up though.
Be glad men have to get colonoscopies too or they'd be telling you those don't hurt either. But you get to be asleep for those because men get 'em too. And those of you who say the rest of us are babies, they don't hurt - tell the truth. Maybe it just didn't hurt YOU. Maybe some of the rest of us have cervical stenosis or an atrophic vagina or other things they don't apply to YOU. Sheesh.
My doctor wants me to have this done because of my irregular bleeding. I am so scared of doing this...especially after reading some of these comments about it hurting and all. I hope I dont have cancer...so worried right now
Had this done 2 days ago. The whole procedure only lasted about 5 minutes. I felt no pain during the actual hysteroscopy procedure but the biopsies did hurt. The pain only lasted a couple of seconds and was bearable. I was terrified before the procedure but can honestly say you don't need to worry.
@mouse4964 ..thank you. It just looks kinda painful. I know I gotta get it done especially if they think it maybe Cancer. I hope i don't have cancer.
@superchick76 hey u should have that test , plz do it. its for ur sake and ur family too :( forget the pain for a second and think about everyone's else pain when its too late to safe you , im sure that pain is so much painful then the pain u would feel after the test or so on , PLEASE put an ending to this !!!!
- i wish all diseases would disappear and we all be safe -
I had this done just last week (Feb/2011) and I agree with one of the other post. Although it was painful with a pinch - it was not OMG, WTF pain. I haven't given birth and I have a very low tolerance for pain. I said ouch a few times but it wasn't that bad. My doc actually had me laughing while on the table right before he started and inbetween my ouches. I had some minor cramping afterwards that went away on the drive home. Maybe the laughing helped ease some of the pain...hmmm?
I just had this done. I didn't get anything to numb me. It did hurt but I didn't cry... I probably said "owww, owww" really loud a couple of times but it really doesn't last that long. It is worth it to make sure there is no cancer. Ask for something to grip.. that would have made it better for me.. And breathe. It's just like getting a pap but with some pain. It isn't anything you can't handle. Take a pain reliever like naproxen or ibuprofen after if ok by your doctor. You won't need it long.
@hansvonde I'm going under the knife for more biopsies+some treatment fri .new yrs :((( lol,,but I had this very procedure done a month ago+it was bloody painfull, gynaecologists are often men....when they say it dosen't hurt....how do they know? exactly..anyone watching who hasn't had a child, please ask for local anaesthetic at the very least,,cheers
I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate here: I guess it would be better going through this 8 minutes of pain to screen for cancer then going through years of pain because you did want to find out (shrug)
Well at least the tech didn't lie to me, my doc was trying to sugarcoat it Oh itll be a pinch a little discomfort.
I had a friend come with me because I heard it hurts. She asked the tech what are you getting ready to do to her? She said the doc is going to take some tissue samples from her uterus She was like well why does she want me in the room? The tech said "Oh because it's going to hurt...yeah it's going to be very painful"
Meanwhile, I m up in the stirrups like "WTF she just say?!?!?!?"
This was a VERY painful procedure for me. If you have to have this done make sure you take painkillers before-hand. It is extremely painful but on the flipside it is a brief procedure. If you can take someone with you for moral support
This is an excellent video - extremely helpful. And thank you to those of you who have posted comments, they have been very helpful too. If a biopsy is suggested, I will be asking for an anaesthetic because whilst I have a high pain threshold, I have low pain tolerance!
Iam 28 years of age I been bleeding for 3 months I have not have have kids I went today to see my doctor for a pap smear and he said he need it to do this test it hurts like hell I don't have babies but if the pain is similar I don't want babies it was so painful I would not do it again!
This is one of the most painful few minutes I have ever experienced in my life, and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. Even women who have given birth admit this after undergoing it. However, this test is more painful if you haven't ever had children, it's more than just "uncomfortable". It was so painful I almost passed out- and I work in gory medical situations which don't ever affect me. I echo what many web discussions say- take pain meds or lots of Ibuprofen before this procedure.
(continued..) There is no equivalent experience with a prostate exam... except if there were a test where a doc sticks a thin scraping tool into your urethra and digs around the inside of your scrotum. There is no such test so it's not something you would ever experience. Thankfully you won't have to- but be kind to the women in your life who do undergo this procedure. It can be pretty rough.
I understand, I had a cytoscopy done, where the doc had to go thru my urethra to check my bladder and what not wasnt that bad, uncomfortable but not painful...now what I dont understand is they cained me up for this procedure, (I had this procedure twice)
BUT did not give me anything for this horrible procedure. I did not take any painkillers, I've never had children so just imagine the pain. I screamed in pain!
Free energy has been here for a while ,But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,if you want a real Free energy Magnet Motor, get the blueprints at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,The revolution begins!
1:16 you can see it suck the lining from the uterus. THAT'S why it hurts - it causes severe cramping and the suction lasts 30 seconds. Hold your breath for 30 seconds...it's a long time.
(Continued) but I'm writing to inform anyone having this done - request a pain med to take just before the visit. Bleeding isn't bad, the clamp is tolerable and you'll just feel like your second day of your menstrual cycle afterwards and will cause bleeding for a couple of days. BUT, it's DURING the suction curette that it gets intense. If nothing else, take 4 tablets of ibuprofen/Advil or 2 of each. Practice breathing in through your nose and out your mouth before hand. It will help. I think :)
It hurts...ALOT, but sometimes is necessary. The thing that holds the cervix hurts a bit - a pinch. Read the blue box at 1:14...it's a suction curette...a vacuum hose. THAT'S when you realize you've suddenly forgotten how to breath. It doesn't scrape your lining, it sucks it from the walls for the longest 30 seconds you've ever encountered. I wish I could have said "stop" but I had to focus on breathing. I'm not trying to scare anyone, and I don't know why someone feels the need to be a hero
@jamesmcneils THANK YOU!!! This is a BRUTAL procedure, and I just do not get why people act like its no big thing! I was SO under-prepared by my doctor that I felt sick, nauseated, angry... I was literally SOBBING and hysterical because I felt so brutalized and underinformed. They would NEVER do this to a man without drugs, NEVER. It's outrageous that we are expected to endure this pain, and I have had two kids; this hurts WAY worse. WAY.
this procedure hurt like hell. they seriously need to put your ass to sleep and your going to have cramping for about 1-2 days afterwards. hope it's worth all the pain.
Don't let these commenters scare you. It is unpleasant, but short--abt 10 minutes max, usually. I just had one, and it was shorter than that. It hurts, yes, but it's not excruciating. The worst part was cramps as the procedure unfolded, yes. I was given Motrin 10 minutes before, but that really didn't do much.
BRING YOUR IPOD! Listen to soothing tunes or a public radio program. Bring a good absorbant maxi-pad, like Infinity, and remember, it'll be over very quickly.
@deedee618 i just had it done OMG…i screamed. but i agree i would rather do this 8 mins of pain than yrs of it. i had the best female doctor at 1 of Canada's Best Hospitals...
@deedee618 u know i think it depends on who do it for u :) coz the first one i had a year ago it hurted me like hellllll but the new one was very easy :)
I had that done and I literally almost pushed myself off the table. It hurt so bad, I wanted to kill my doctor. Then after came the bleeding and heavy cramping. so not fun :(
@alexlilsnshn sorry i didn't mean to thumbs down ur comment lol, did it accidently. anyways, i wonder if dr.s can use some sort of muscle relaxant to relax the vaginal canal muscles? ps. notice how there's no haters here cuz only educated/respectful people look this stuff up.
@PSYCHEDELIKSOUL that's ok, I had no idea you did a thumbs down lol. i just wrote about my experience with this. in fact i did take a motrin 800 an hour before & i still had extreme cramping during the procedure and after for a couple of days. i'm glad i don't have to do that anymore. i'm actually at my breaking point. i had 4 d & c's already and am thinking of having a hysterectomy cause i dont want to deal with the pain anymore. i look at these videos for info cause i dont know what else 2 do.
OMG!!!!! just got back from getting this done. Doctor said i would only feel a pinch. Ya ok hurt like hell. Then i just hurd i could have asked for local anesthesia....Would never get that done again! I also have cramping & mild bleeding hope that goes away soon!!!!
I had this procedure done, as most of you said, it hurt like hell. It felt as if I was being raped with a pitch fork! No anesthesia either, and I read on many medical websites that my doctor could have administered a local anesthetic! After I got home, the cramping continued for days and the psychological effect is even worse. If any woman needs this procedure, please DEMAND an anesthetic first!!!
@BerryShirayukii only if sumthings wrong but u do have to go for a smear test which is where ur doctor will put the metal thing into your vigina, it pays to have it done every 2 to 3 years as even young people have died of cancer down there, it is a little bit unconfortable but not the worst thing ever, and its only every 3 years so dnt worry about it, better to have check up then to find out u have cancer... :)
@Bobababy2208 thats so true men dnt relise we have to sit to go loo, have periods, have babies, clean, cook, do everything, shave legs and arms.....and thay, dnt have periods, pee standing up, dnt have birth, dnt cook, dnt clean!
Hurts like bloody hell. Anytime you put something into the cervic it hurts, then scraping the uterus is horrible. Better to get a D&C because your get a general and are totally knocked out because it is much too painful to do on a woman while she's awake.
I had one of those in my gyn's office. IT HURT LIKE HELL! I didn't get a sedative - she just told me she was going to do it. Afterward she handed me a sanitary napkin and said, "You're going to need this." Gee, I guess so, there was blood all over the table. Sorry to be so negative, but this was NOT a painless procedure.
@generaljo2 it hurts cuz he cuts a little piece.. When he was doing that I was watching what he was doing on the screen. As soones he cut it started bleeding.
thank you i find this information very useful i have to et one of those the first time i went i was scared so it was canceled but this time im follow thru with it and get it over
oh god my guy eyes!!!!!! sooooo yeah does that hurt ...i mean me being a dude i wouldn't know....so that when i get a girlfriend i would do my best to comfort her........just saying....
i dont understand why it would hurt (because im a bloke...) apart from the bit where the doc grabs ur cervix with the lump of metal...the rest shudnt be painful? someone explain to me why...please...?
I had this done yesterday as well. and I was told to take an Advil 1 hour before going in, which I forgot, but I don't think that it would've helped because it hurt like a BITCH! ( excuse my expression). now I know why. Thank God the gynecologist was very understanding, eventhough he would never have to experience this pain. I am still feeling it. Advil isn't kicking in. Anyone know what else I could do. Sitting up is uncomfortable, but unfortunatly I have to for work ( I might leave early..ugh)
I just found out they could give localized anestesia around the area (even though that looked like that hurt too) I didnt get nothing!!! and I screamed like hell
Ok...I read through quite a few of the comments yesterday and was unable to sleep last night because I was scheduled to have the procedure done today. The hormons are main reason for irregular periods usually, but is a very normal thing, many womans experience the same problems at your age .

KassCraven 6 months ago
@KassCraven I have absoultly have no idea what type ....thats what im going for and i am getting it for irregular bleeding ........bout mabe 3 months ago i was getting my period just about every other week an it would be really heavy , like i was just going to not worry about that but my mom wants me to go on it because i am sexually active with my boyfriend ......an if i tell th doctors that im not sexually active will that effect the type of birth control im on??? just curious!
dementedsam 6 months ago
@dementedsam Tell your doctor everything, maybe you have a polyp which is causing this irregular bleeding? or even endometreosis, I personally would ask the doctor everything, the pros and cons about the birth control, not only will it prevent you getting pregnant, birth control does improve bleeding, making it lighter and regular. treat your doctor like a professional friend. ask even things you feel are silly
KassCraven 5 months ago
@KassCraven Thank you sooooo much you absoultly have no idea how helpful you have been an i most deffinatly will ask questions ....again thank you :)!!!
dementedsam 5 months ago
@dementedsam you have no idea how many patients come petrified into hospitals too scared to ask questions because 'we know what we are doing' you need to remember it's your body, ask what is wrong, how can it help, and any alternatives :) Bit of a late reply :o but by now im sure you had it done and it all went well, x
KassCraven 3 months ago
@dementedsam Sweetie are you sure you need an "endometrial biopsy"? In order to get on birth control you need only a pap smear which is not the same procedure. Instead of sticking the long tube into the uterus & sucking out cells the doctor sticks a Q-tip type of device in & samples the cells. It's painless. Ask your doctor if you need an "endometrial biopsy" or just a "pap smear." I had this procedure endometrial biopsy done today without any pain medicine and it hurt but was tolerable.

I'm taking my gf to do this in a couple of hours. SO happy she didn't see the comments,on how painful it is. She's already nervous. I'll post a results comment after it's over. :(
bigdaddymojo2005 6 months ago
It was traumatic, never thought it was that painful i almost passed out. My advice is have it done though anesthesia. Though the procedure takes between 5-8 minutes it's not worth the pain.
kay21146 6 months ago

They would NEVER do this to a man without heavy drugs, and it's unconscionable that they would a) lie to a woman about 'slight discomfort', b) refuse to give women drugs to make this tolerable.
melpom4 10 months ago
@melpom4 I had this done today. When I heard my doctor say "biopsy" I knew it involved cutting something so I immediately asked "does it hurt" and she said "yes." I wasn't offered any pain medication and my doctor is fairly rough!!! I made some sounds and had someone hold my hand. Afterwards I thought I was going to throw up and faint. On top of that my doctor does not have a light touch! Her moving the specula around hurt too. Maybe I need to tell her doubt she'll soften up though.
Aditi000 6 months ago
Be glad men have to get colonoscopies too or they'd be telling you those don't hurt either. But you get to be asleep for those because men get 'em too. And those of you who say the rest of us are babies, they don't hurt - tell the truth. Maybe it just didn't hurt YOU. Maybe some of the rest of us have cervical stenosis or an atrophic vagina or other things they don't apply to YOU. Sheesh.

Meanwhile, I m up in the stirrups like "WTF she just say?!?!?!?"

diana1234beauty 1 year ago
This is one of the most painful few minutes I have ever experienced in my life, and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. Even women who have given birth admit this after undergoing it. However, this test is more painful if you haven't ever had children, it's more than just "uncomfortable". It was so painful I almost passed out- and I work in gory medical situations which don't ever affect me. I echo what many web discussions say- take pain meds or lots of Ibuprofen before this procedure.
lwhynot 1 year ago 12
(continued..) There is no equivalent experience with a prostate exam... except if there were a test where a doc sticks a thin scraping tool into your urethra and digs around the inside of your scrotum. There is no such test so it's not something you would ever experience. Thankfully you won't have to- but be kind to the women in your life who do undergo this procedure. It can be pretty rough.
lwhynot 1 year ago
@lwhynot

1:16 you can see it suck the lining from the uterus. THAT'S why it hurts - it causes severe cramping and the suction lasts 30 seconds. Hold your breath for 30 seconds...it's a long time.
jamesmcneils 1 year ago
(Continued) but I'm writing to inform anyone having this done - request a pain med to take just before the visit. Bleeding isn't bad, the clamp is tolerable and you'll just feel like your second day of your menstrual cycle afterwards and will cause bleeding for a couple of days. BUT, it's DURING the suction curette that it gets intense. If nothing else, take 4 tablets of ibuprofen/Advil or 2 of each. Practice breathing in through your nose and out your mouth before hand. It will help. I think :)
jamesmcneils 1 year ago
It hurts...ALOT, but sometimes is necessary. The thing that holds the cervix hurts a bit - a pinch. Read the blue box at 1:14...it's a suction curette...a vacuum hose. THAT'S when you realize you've suddenly forgotten how to breath. It doesn't scrape your lining, it sucks it from the walls for the longest 30 seconds you've ever encountered. I wish I could have said "stop" but I had to focus on breathing. I'm not trying to scare anyone, and I don't know why someone feels the need to be a hero
jamesmcneils 1 year ago
@jamesmcneils THANK YOU!!! This is a BRUTAL procedure, and I just do not get why people act like its no big thing! I was SO under-prepared by my doctor that I felt sick, nauseated, angry... I was literally SOBBING and hysterical because I felt so brutalized and underinformed. They would NEVER do this to a man without drugs, NEVER. It's outrageous that we are expected to endure this pain, and I have had two kids; this hurts WAY worse. WAY.

Hurts like bloody hell. Anytime you put something into the cervic it hurts, then scraping the uterus is horrible. Better to get a D&C because your get a general and are totally knocked out because it is much too painful to do on a woman while she's awake.
