Splitter boxes out like a beast for other players to grab boards, his POSITIONAL defense is top notch, defense isn't just about blocking shots or getting steals, it's about being able to stay in front of your man and contesting their shot and that's exactly what Splitter did.
He doesn't really have a post game but his specialty is the Pick and Roll he scores like crazy when they run it for him because he's so mobile. The Spurs almost NEVER passed him the ball because...
They weren't used to playing with him, Parker and Hill refused to pass it to him when he was wide open. He also creates shots for other people by setting a shit load of great screens to open up people wide lanes to the basket which the Spurs failed to do in the playoffs.
He can also draw fouls on players, in the LA game he drew 7 fouls in 19 mins, 2 on Bynum, 1 on Gasol, 2 on Kobe, 2 on Odom...
If he gets legit playing time he could easily average 12pts and 8 rebounds.
Those fouls took them out of the game, he's done it many times before. He knows how to use his body to draw fouls and that's very important for a big man to do. Splitter does things that won't show up on the stat sheet, the same way Ginobili does. The average nba fan will say he sucks because they don't really understand the game and how much of an impact the little things do. Go ahead and watch him next season, watch how he frees up people with screens, fouls he draws etc

Just pay attention to Tiago's movement on the defensive end, pay attention to how he's able to stay in front of his man. The closer an NBA player gets to the basket=an easy bucket, Tiago doesn't allow that to happen though, he forces them to take tough contested shots which they usually miss. That's why he shut down Odom when they played against team USA.

In all fairness, I've watched this guy. I don't see what's so special. Good player, yes. NBA star? No. He's big and he's a good interior passer, but he's incredibly slow. The NBA game is much faster and I think he's a 10 pts., 5 reb kind of player. At least for the first few years of his career. He's not going to dominate or "star" anytime soon

@monsieurrenard Words have very different connotations in Europe. They do not have the same history of slavery that we do. Take Pini Gershon and his "Mocha Face" theory for example. Obvious racist undertones if you're American, but less so if you have a European lens. Folks in South America will view White Power differently as well.

The chances that splitter comes to the USA and to the sprus this season is very high. They can offer him the MLE and the Greek and Eruo economy are starting to fall so which is another reason he comes. He also knows if he comes he wont be on a lottery team he will be a title conteding team. He also knows he will get min's and probably be a starter for the spurs. So chances are very high he comes this summer and I cant wait.
This guy doesn't seem really athletic. He plays a power game in Europe, which wont translate well in the NBA against stronger talent. He reminds me of David Anderson without an outside shot, which makes him very limited in his ability to contribute, id rather invest a larger role into Dejuan Blair.

I heard he's pretty good on defense, he's got excellent size at 7'0 245lbs. They said he's very athletic and his offense is good as well. The Spurs drafted him 28th in the 2007 NBA draft but were unable to bring him over because of his contract with another team (Because of his contract teams passed him up). According to Draft Express he's ranked number 3 in NBA rights held with Rubio and Childress ahead of him. I think he'll be a solid player for the Spurs.

In all fairness, I've watched this guy. I don't see what's so special. Good player, yes. NBA star? No. He's big and he's a good interior passer, but he's incredibly slow. The NBA game is much faster and I think he's a 10 pts., 5 reb kind of player. At least for the first few years of his career. He's not going to dominate or "star" anytime soon

I like the video, but like everyone else, I must admit that this is a significantly terrible title. You should consider changing it due to all the racial connotations that it conjures up. You (PalomoLv) claim that it has nothing to do with racial superiority. That may be true and your intentions may be sincere, but given the history of that phrase "White Power," its best if you avoid it altogether. Yes he may be superficially white and strong, but there's other ways to describe this.

It is probably too late for him to develop into a real threat ... as a Center he will be no match for even smaller stronger centers.. he is getting muscled in these highlights.. He also seems to have developed bad habits... Fade away jump shots with no one on him... not finishing strong against defense.

I don't think the comparison works. A black mamba is a very specific snake, while white power is very specifically a racist mantra. White Chocolate has its own irksome racial connotations, but I think most people see it as sort of cheeky. It's not just the phrase "White Power", it's what it means. Google it. I promise you'll get nothing but Nazi materials.

@monsieurrenard Words have very different connotations in Europe. They do not have the same history of slavery that we do. Take Pini Gershon and his "Mocha Face" theory for example. Obvious racist undertones if you're American, but less so if you have a European lens. Sure a lot of them went through the Nazi years but plantation slavery and its mindset was built up and embedded for hundreds of years. Folks in South America will view White Power differently as well.

The chances that splitter comes to the USA and to the sprus this season is very high. They can offer him the MLE and the Greek and Eruo economy are starting to fall so which is another reason he comes. He also knows if he comes he wont be on a lottery team he will be a title conteding team. He also knows he will get min's and probably be a starter for the spurs. So chances are very high he comes this summer and I cant wait.

This guy doesn't seem really athletic. He plays a power game in Europe, which wont translate well in the NBA against stronger talent. He reminds me of David Anderson without an outside shot, which makes him very limited in his ability to contribute, id rather invest a larger role into Dejuan Blair.

I heard he's pretty good on defense, he's got excellent size at 7'0 245lbs. They said he's very athletic and his offense is good as well. The Spurs drafted him 28th in the 2007 NBA draft but were unable to bring him over because of his contract with another team (Because of his contract teams passed him up). According to Draft Express he's ranked number 3 in NBA rights held with Rubio and Childress ahead of him. I think he'll be a solid player for the Spurs.
