The Pre and the Pixi are so ugly. Plus ARMv6 devices like the Pixi are completely outdated. The Pre's build quality is meh as well. Pre 2 is nothing more than a minor spec update of the Pre Plus. HP/Palm better be releasing some new phones and tablets on more carriers. They have a great operating system, it's a shame no one really wants to use it.
Even so I just ordered one. I'm on Sprint and I can't have a 4G phone on my plan. All non-4G phones are ARMv6...other than the Pre. I'd suggest it.
As for iOS, you can only officially develop for it on a Mac and homebrew apps actually have some performance problems (note that PSX4ALL ran faster than on the Pre than the iPhone 3GS in early development). Even then you have to go through Apple's ridiculous App Store requirements, it's just not an open platform.
WebOS has the best implementation of multi-tasking on any mobile operating system. If you can write javascript code you can write an app. The main problem is the lack of handsets.
WebOS has improved significantly through updates and I'd say it's the best mobile operating system. Hardware 3D support, video recording, as well as Flash support were all welcome updates.
WebOS as an open operating system like Android but with the performance of iOS.
Android is actually pretty slow to be honest. The JIT compiler in 2.2 helped, but in reality a virtual machine will always be slower than native code. There's a reason why Gameloft games run badly even on 1 GHz ARMv7.

im no apple fanboy, but the iPhone still rules with the combination of features and quality build. The lack of led flash for the camera is a huge disadvantage (along with weak AT&T service). As a first gen iPhone owner, I skipped the 3G and 3GS just for that reason. However, with the new iPhone4, there is only one mobile that even can come close in a prizefight...the HTC Evo for Sprint. I was gonna pick up the Evo but the specs of the iPhone4 won me over.

I have an iPhone (but I don't live in the US) and I have never faced any problems with the call quality. Maybe the problem lies with the carrier in the US

@guitarrobino Lets be honest, you can't make an app which can turn a black piece of plastic or whatever into a flash. Any decent photos in the dark, will be more luck than anything else. Camera technology requires a decent flash to stop blurring. The reality is, a flash is essential. Im not saying the iPhone camera ain't good, just not a 5.

Agreed. I think Call Quality is a lot more important than performance. I have an INQ1 phone and the processor is rubbish even though its supposed to be a multi-tasking phone, but the call quality is really good on it, so i stick with it.
I've tried the Pre out and it is amazing. Both phones are great. If iPhone was on sprint I'd buy it. But for now I prefer palm Pre just cause the network is better than ATT. Don't get my wrong I'm a huge apple fan. And own a touch myself:)
i think they grouped navigation and multitasking together so that the iphone could win. there is virtually no multitasking on the iphone so the pre should have won that comparison by a landslide, and in the navigation department i am sure they could have given that to the iphone but not by a big margin. by gouping them together the screwed the pre out of a few points.

there may be no multi-tasking on the iphone but the iphone 3gs is so fast at getting to the homescreen you can open your next application just as fast as you can with the pre..
the 3gs is super fast but it is not the point. without multitasking you have to open up apps and start what you are doing again each time you are inturrupted.

yeah and that was a stock pre first gen they tested and i still believe a stock pre is better then the iphone and anyone who has a pre and has unlocked it and added hombrew that has over 200 quality apps already and a patch for a virtual keyboard that rivals the iphone and hero in reg and landscape mode also web os updates around the clock the pre is already better then the iphone, hero etc im a developer and know that the iphones OS is maxed out and will be replaced next yr

How, if the iPhone doesn't have a flash, can it take a 5 for camera and multimedia? thats freaking retarded and a little bit biased in my opinion. I agree with Safari being a great web browser on a phone, but the camera isn't that special and DOESN'T have a flash, but it still gets a 5?

i never seem to need a flash... in the darkest bars i have taken great pics, and on a rare occasion i will need to use my flash app hich works excellent!!! why waste battery life on flash when theres an app for that anyway?

@guitarrobino Lets be honest, you can't make an app which can turn a black piece of plastic or whatever into a flash. Any decent photos in the dark, will be more luck than anything else. Camera technology requires a decent flash to stop blurring. The reality is, a flash is essential. Im not saying the iPhone camera ain't good, just not a 5.

I mean for example, how on earth do phone performance and call quality have the same level of significance?! If a phones call quality is adequate, it's ok. However I'd a phones performance is poor that's far more of an issue. Cnet are a bunch of clowns!

Agreed. I think Call Quality is a lot more important than performance. I have an INQ1 phone and the processor is rubbish even though its supposed to be a multi-tasking phone, but the call quality is really good on it, so i stick with it.

I've tried the Pre out and it is amazing. Both phones are great. If iPhone was on sprint I'd buy it. But for now I prefer palm Pre just cause the network is better than ATT. Don't get my wrong I'm a huge apple fan. And own a touch myself:)

i think they grouped navigation and multitasking together so that the iphone could win. there is virtually no multitasking on the iphone so the pre should have won that comparison by a landslide, and in the navigation department i am sure they could have given that to the iphone but not by a big margin. by gouping them together the screwed the pre out of a few points.
