Herrmann recorded this in 1975 in failing health but he also purposely slowed the tempo so as to present it in 'concert form'...he was known for barking out..."THIS AIN'T THE FILM!!".

@fyrestorme123 Because it's a re-recording that doesn't play at the same tempo for some stupid bullshit reason. I couldn't stand it, so you know what I did? I took the soundtrack and speeded the tempo up at the tracks that really needed it. Making some of them sound a lot like they did in the movie :)

One third of the film was Herrmann's score. Another third was Harryhausen's effects work. Still a brilliant film and it's great to see so many younger generations appreciating the film for its merits.
