euphoria was an incredibly underrated album, one of their best. and promises and paper sun were as good as any songs from their other records, and better than a lot of the singles from pyromania or hysteria
i thnk its amazing by how much def leppard has gone through in the past that they have managed to stick together and come back in top...ROCK ON DEF LEPPARD!!
You kidding? This album rocks. Euphoria tops X, Slang, and Sparkle Lounge easily. It's not their best effort obviously but it's got some rockin tracks on it.
lets hope joe grows his hair back to how it used to be... the good old def leppard days... hysteria is one of their best albums....slang sucks big time...to grungy for these guys... seen them in concert many years ago...best band i've seen live....ever... rock on fellas
Slang was not a horrible mess, it's a great and highly underrated album. Infact I would say Slang is the most underrated album of the 90's.
Euphoria has alot of faults, mostly lyrically, and of course songs like Back in Your Face, All Night, and It's Only Love should have been replaced by the far supperior B-sides... Burnout, I Am Your Child, and Immortal.
Well, Slang certainly has it's share of supporters. But as a Lep fan since their High and Dry days, I never before hesitated to buy anything they put out. I purchased Slang they day it was released, put it on, punched the "random" button on my player, turned it up and immediately had to eject the CD to make sure that some grunge band wasn't packaged in the case by mistake after hearing the first song.
I'm sure it's a good album to a lot of people, but I was let down by it.
I like def leppard, but in no way will they be anywhere near my top 10 bands of all time. The music is very good, but... and it's a very big but.
Their songs have the typical heavy chorus scream in all every freaking hit. Sad.... they go from a great band to solid. I give them a 6.8 out of 10 stars.
This song has an excellent intro, then the "typical" chorus scream kicks in at about 0:49 seconds. Same chorus scream in all their songs.
Great tune. One of the hidden gems of the Def Leppard catalog and, unfortunatly, the last thing they ever did that was really any good in my opinion. I feel that they went way too far into the deep end of the pop pool in the 2000s.
Still, a solid rocker that reminds one of Def Lep's heyday in the 80s. And a final breath of quality rock in the late 90s before the rap rockers, boy bands, and pop princesses swallowed everything up.
Good call dman72...Rick Allen's brother is Tim's tour manager, so the collaboration was an easy one and a freakin' cool one in my opinion. I saw Def Leppard with Journey not long ago and was blown away. Two of THE most technically sound, every note perfect bands ever.
at least def leppard's music has meaning. and listen to that guitar! it's incomparable to the jonas brothers! jo bros suck balls! def leppard lives forever. <3
Hell Yeah Haha When Our Band Finds A Singer And Bass Player Were Doin Some Def Leppard Songs And This Will Be One Of Them And Also Hysteria And Many More Then We Will Move To Our Own Songs
I have loved def lep forever. I have everything they've put out even the horrendous oh yeah! which I use as a decoration on my ceiling. I've seen them at least 10 times and have come within inches of most of the band, even staying at the same hotel in vegas. I just saw them on the cma's and watching them with taylor swift made my tummy turn. This song was the beginning of their downfall and any hard core fan would agree. The Jonas comparison was harsh though. lol
Hey! I was at that show! We were soaked! LOL! Lots of fun though...Cheap Trick played only five songs, that was lame. Poison desperately needs to change their set list, but Def Leppard was great! 5 minutes from Blossom, gotta love it!
Man, Lepp is sounding as good as ever...the melodic heavy drive, those amazing vocal harmonies, they can still do it! They've been survivors for a HELL of a lot of reasons, the least of which is that they stuck to their guns and still managed to remain relevant and successful. Sticking together through thick and thin also sets them apart from a lot of other bands. Through death, dismemberment and changing musical climate, they continue to put out amazing rock.
u say Flo Rida i say OZZY u say miley cyrus i say Def Leppard u say katy perry i say Van Halen u say high school musical i say Metalica u say rap i say SUCK IT! u say hip hop i say scorpions u say kanye west i say motley crue u say T. Pain i say led zepplen u say Akon i say dumb 94% of kids prefer rap to other music. :-P if youre one of the awesome 6% that still loves to headbang copy and paste this to three pure rock videos. KEEP THE SPIRIT OF ROCK ALIVE!
My husband Told me, that I needed to listen to this song the other day, When I asked why he simply replied,,,,, "Because that song will tell you everything about me that I want to say to you" so I did I went here to listen and I cried... Love Def Leappard anyways.... and this song well that hit the right spot....
lol I remember this song....It came out when i was 15...Soo When everyone else was listening to tha hamster dance crap...I was discovering amazing rock bands just like them it really opensed my eyes to great music mainly from past generations because as youth of the 90's nothing really grasps me as having staying power
This song is AMAZING even if the video isnt the best. In MY opinion one of Def Leppards top three songs and i place def leppard as one of the greatest groups of all time............. oh sorry Zoe this ones a dead end
DL was just incredible on their first 3 albums. Then they hired the best producer in the world for pop rock, and they were on top, even though they changed their sound quite a bit. It was still quality work.
After they stopped working with Mutt Lange, they had 3 options: (1) go back to the early stuff (pretty hard to do again). (2) work with Mutt Lange again (who knows what they'd be playing, but they'd kept their success. (3) come up with the crap they've been doing for the last 20 years.
Correction: Mutt Lange also produced High 'n' Dry and Pyromania, but Hysteria was really his baby.
Hysteria was a masterpiece of pop rock production, engineering, and recording. But Def Leppard no longer had that raw, creative sound of the first three albums.
When your standards are as high as back to back multi platinum selling albums such as Pyromania and Hysteria, it's hard to keep up. Your entitled to your opinion, but if you don't like anything after Hysteria, why are you even listening to and commenting on this vid? Go do something else.
I don't know where people get the silly idea that comments should always be adulating and positive, and that nobody should be watching things (even specifically entertainment items) on which they have criticisms.
If you don't like your cherished pop idols to be criticized, maybe you should go do something else. Stick to your dvds and you'll fell better.
Overwhelmingly immature because I think a rock band has gone into declension? Unable to criticize an artist and/or record unless I can do a better one?
I don't think your "logic" merits response.
I wonder if you ever criticized your government. Or maybe you did, because you actually can be a better head of state than anyone you'd criticize in politics.
Well you gotta admit that the new album has a more raw edge to it with a Hysteria and High N Dry mixture! It ain't a pop album like X, it really rocks! What I'm sayin is that Leppard is getting back on track a bit even though I'm a fan of everthing they've done, but I was psyched for a more rockin album and it's prolly their best since Slang, yes I said Slang, and prolly the most rockin since Adrenalize!
i kinda agreee with u tht DL hav gon downhill since introducing viv....but the fact is tht no one can make every album like their best album...they can try but thr is always gona be criticism....eg. red hot chili peppers came out with a beauty called stadium arcadium but people say its not like Californication....but they fail to realize how hard it is to make another album like tht.....
Def leppards new album RULEZ but theyll never be as good as before coz their genius guitarist is dead
I mean, for crying out loud, how does one go from playing "Answer To The Master," "Sorrow is a Woman," "Switch 625," "Mirror, Mirror," "Die Hard the Hunter" and "Billy's Got a Gun" to playing with Taylor Swift??
Sure, that was just a publicity stunt (which in itself is a red flag), but they're a different band now. And not for the better.
Im sorry but all this crap about DL bieng bad is all wrong, Have you heard their new album??? they are the greatest band that are still going strong today, you need to grow up and watch a few more vids by these guys and then tell me if you still thinki their crap
There is a reason people are dissing this song. The intro is great. But once the singing kicks in, it's typical def leppard with their cliche'd chorus screams. That's why the band faded away. They never went beyond the same formula.
That is not entirely accurate. They were on top of the world with Hysteria, and declined a bit with Adrenalize *(but not that much). Then they wanted to try a "different formula" with "Slang" and they flopped. Then they said, crap, we need to make some money again, and they tried to return to old formulas and came up with this stuff (Euphoria). It flopped. Then they said, screw it, we'll go back to the Slang crap. They flopped, flopped and flopped.
I guess many will disagree with me but I'll say it anyways--
I think the guitaring in this song is as good as Def leppard ever got; in fact, I think the guitaring (overall) combo is probably one of the greatest ever in rock music history. How do these guys achieve this level of layering? Def leppard steals the definition of retro from every other band. They have so many good songs in their past but this one seems to top them all.
What kind of guitar effects must I use to get these sounds? My guess is a BOSS Compression/Sustainer CS-3 and a BOSS DS-1 is there anyone out there who can help me?
not saying this is bad but if you compare this to songs like rock rock til you drop or foolin its just that theyve changed their sound.........wats with that ery fuckin high note at 3:39....he hasnt been able to do notes like that since 1993
thankyou for that source of information

They never went beyond the same formula.
hospitalbedpan1 3 years ago
That is not entirely accurate. They were on top of the world with Hysteria, and declined a bit with Adrenalize *(but not that much). Then they wanted to try a "different formula" with "Slang" and they flopped. Then they said, crap, we need to make some money again, and they tried to return to old formulas and came up with this stuff (Euphoria). It flopped. Then they said, screw it, we'll go back to the Slang crap. They flopped, flopped and flopped.
I was a big fan until 1987.

Classic leppard; incredible...unbelievable.
Grossly under-rated.

What kind of guitar effects must I use to get these sounds? My guess is a BOSS Compression/Sustainer CS-3 and a BOSS DS-1 is there anyone out there who can help me?
