Do you realize how many "rappers" in my apartment complex would love to make a "beat" with that synth?... hehe ;) Excellent gear bro.... I'm glad that someone like yourself has possession of this wonderful piece of musical history... it's in good hands... ;)
For raw osc's that sounds very nice indeed, I remember seeing your synth collection in an old coppy of Future Music Magazine, still have it under the bed some where to drool at lol -!ANALOGUE!-
Fascinating kit. I think Steve Porcaro used a massive version of the Polyfusion...on the Toto IV album I believe. They should make a software version of it.
If you use a polyphonic midi-cv, no problem. You just need at least 1 VCO, 1 VCA, 1 Envelope and preferably 1 VCF per voice. For example this Polyfusion could in fact be a 5 voice.
My ARP 2500 has 4 sequencers, so I can run 4 different sequences simultaneously on that with a different sound per sequence.
They were actually built by ex Moog employees... they left to do their own thing and in my opinion built a higher end moog! Maybe not quite as rich in some ways, but you can go places where Moogs fail. Superbly built and great sounding.

How much does it weight? I've heard that Totos roadies wasn't too pleased having to carry this thing among with David Paich's cs-80. =)

It's heavy!
I can just about carry the top cabinet and move it.
It's so solid too. Massive build quality.

If they bring a VERY large bag of Euros, they can have it ;-)
buchla300 3 years ago
Hehe.. What is the price on a beat like that?
fockdapa 3 years ago
These days hard to say. Maybe €15000 upwards. I doubt I'd sell mine unless I really had too..
buchla300 3 years ago
Wow... Well it is a classic, so no wounder!

I wish I could find the time to do some more "musical" examples!
Maybe soon I'll give your co-habitants something to sample ;-)

So, is there a way to make a modular true POLYphonic synth? Some kind of a smart digital module, that devides CV signal to different oscillators?
I'm not talking about cheap tricks, like detuning different oscillators - no, true polyphonic, like Jupiter 8.

Very interesting! It's always fun to see someone working with analog synths! This reminds me of the moog!
