  • Gina Crowell Period 1

I liked Mr.Horowitz's reading as well. His voice was loud and strong and I thought he put the most emotion into it. Every detail of the poem stuck out.

  • Vincent Chang Period 8:

i liked Mr Horowitz's reading the best since he expressed more emotion in his words. The places he emphasized on also, in my opinion, flowed smoothly with the entire sentence. Mr Porter didn't do bad either, i liked how he emphasized himself by closing up on the cam.

  • Steven Weidlich Period 8:

Mr. Horowitz was the best in my opinion. He read the poem clear and with passion. In his last reading, I could tell he cared about the poem and wanted to read the poem.

  • Maggie Kollmar, Pd 8:

Personally, I felt Mr. Porter and Mrs. Mammen did really well reading the Whitman poem. Mr. Porter made it more of a comfortable atmosphere because he was closer to the screen then the other teachers. I felt Mrs. Mammen's differentaited vocals sounded clear and dramatic.

  • John Herrmann, Pd. 8:

I think that Mr. Ross did the best because he had pauses and read the poem very somoothly. He took it a bit slower than some of the other teachers and that made the poem easier to understand and more natural. I also thought Mr. Porter did it good because he stood next to the camera and he was easily heard.

  • Michael DeJesus, Pd. 8:

Mr. Ross, in my own opinion, delivered the poem the best, due to the way he clearly enunciated each word and read the poem in ordinance with the cadence and rhythm of the lines, the way Whitman intended. His slower pace -- compared to the fast past of some of the other readers -- allows the listener adequate time to listen to the poem and allows for each word within the poem to have an impact. Mr. Horowitz also read the peom very well, with strong enunciation.

  • Jennifer King:

I think Mr. Ross and Mrs. Battalioro read the poem best. Mr. Ross made it sound very interesting and up beat the way he read the poem, while Mrs. Battalioro made it sound peaceful and smooth.

  • Mrs. Raimondo was the best reader because she happened to contain the correct vocal in presenting the poem. She paused within the poem which caused much effect.

    Catarina Santos

  • Mrs. Battalioro my favorite, her voice paused at all the correct moment and the tone of her voice fit the tone of the poem perfectly. she made it clear and easy to listen to

    -Juliana Engler

  • Mrs. Raimondo's was the best reader because the tone of her voice went with the pauses in the poem, and it was easy to understand.

    Dana Disarno

  • Mrs. Brodsky read it the best because she delivered it clearly and with feeling, but Mr. Porter delivered it very well to

    - Owen Gilligan

  • Mr. Porter was the best reader because of his voice demeanor in which he read. Mr Horowitz was not bad as well because of his clear speech and emphasis.

    Tim Sinnott

  • Mr. Porter read it the best, he had clear and distinct eye contact with the viewer and had a good tone. He was clear with his words and was not looking at the text like the other readers were.

    BethBicknell

  • Mr. Porter had a good delivery, because of his positioning, but Mrs. Mammen also read well, with a good feel for the words. I would call it a tie.

    - Bryce Malinchak

  • I thought Mrs. Brodsky read it best becasuse she put feeling into it and you could understand her. - Nicole Honegger

  • Mrs. Battiloro read the poem the best. She read through the poem smoothly and clearly. The way she read the poem made it flow.

    -Taylor DaSilva

  • Mr. Ross was pretty good. He was enthusiastic about it. Mr. Porter was the clearest though. I call it a tie.

  • I think Ms. Mammen was tied with Mr. Porter in that they both had strong voices when they read. They gave the blurb almost a sense of life as if they really enjoyed reading every word of it. People like Mr. Ross, ehh, they were slightly dry in their presentation of the poem. I do have to give props to Mr. Porter for having the courage to just stare into the camera and say the poem word for word.

  • I think Mr. Porter was the best because he was the easiest to hear and spoke clearly.

    -Kristina Murray

  • I like Mrs. Raimondo's the best because she spoke well and with great enthusiasm. - Teddy

  • Mr Horowitz was the best reader. He was very clear, and he had a good rhythm. Andrew Katz

  • I liked Mrs. Battiloro's reading the best. Her voice was relaxing and made the poem sound like it had more flow and rhythm than when you read it to yourself. I also liked that Whitman's poem was optimistic rather than pessimistic.

  • I like Mr. Horowitz the best. It had a nice poetic flow to it.

    -Ryan Gavin

  • Mr. Ross was my favorite reader, he has a nice poetic voice.

  • I liked Mrs. Batt's rea.ding cuz.. she was my teacher freshman year and shes cool....... hearing it out loud makes you listen to how awkward the poem really sounds, lack of flow, rhyme, or rythym, but it is still a good poem. -Ben Weiss

  • I liked when Mr. Horowitz read some parts of the poem "I Hear America Singing" because his voice was soothing and relaxing. His voice, somehow, captivated my attention.

    -Jeff Chang-

  • Mr. Porter read it the best. All the other teachers were further away from and it was slightly harder to hear them speak. Since Mr. Porter was closer to the camera and his voice was so clear, it made him the best reader.

  • I liked Mr Ross's reading because of the way he spaced the words. It flowed nicely.

    -Pat Engelsman

  • I liked Mr. Horowitz the best. For some reason I liked his voice.

  • mr porter great voice

    (this is shannon).

    -Jared Goetz

  • I think that Mr. Porter reads the best because of the way he pronounces the words. This make it clear to the listener and helps them better understand what it is about. Also, he had constant eye contact with the readers. - Maria Bova

  • Mr. Porter is definitely the best because he articulates very well. Also, he doesn't read off of a paper, he has consistent eye contact with the camera at a closer distance than the other teachers. This causes him to stand out among the rest.

  • Mr. Porter definitely read it the best. All the other teachers were looking down at the text. Mr. Porter also spoke the clearest and loudest.

  • I think Mr. Porter read it best;

He's the only one who kept consistant eye contact with the camera and didn't have to read it from paper to recite it.

However, Mr. Horowitz was the most interesting to watch. His eyebrow movements as he read made him look very interested...

    -Kim Spaven

  • I think Mr. Porter was the best because his voice was loud and clear.

  • @phlewis86 thanks.

  • Great idea. But wait. There's another rendition in the works that will rock your world. Then you will hear America singing!!

  • ... are given and a lot of imagery is once more created.

Whitman once more succeeds on passing on his messages and communicating with the reader. He forces you to imagine what he writes. It's great.

  • I was having so much fun going comment crazy last night that I totally forgot about this one.

Ms Mammen and Mr Ross definetely deliver the pace and feeling of the poem the best. No offense to the rest, but you pick it up in their tones, Ms Mammen carries emotion in her voice, and Mr Ross finishes each line of the stanza slowly and by the way he reads it you know there's more coming in the poem. It doesn't just end with a period or a blank space.

As for the poem, once more, exact descriptions

She read it perfectly and her voice portrayed the mood of the poem, rather than being monotonous and uninteresting.
