  • It's obvious the guy has talent, but what pisses me off,is why piggy back on Radiohead's fame for popularity. The guitar solo in the intro is similar to 'lull'. Hope no copyright infringements there, or else he'd be strung out 'high and dry'.

  • I am so confused >__<

  • @krick1030

It's funny (or sad?), but I think you are not entirely wrong... Thom HAS a perfect voice, he just does not use it anymore :-(

  • Amazing! His voice is just perfect. Actually, it sounds a lot like Thom's (but absolutely not like Andy Yorke's!), but there's also a little something of Jeff Buckley's or Rufus Wainwright's voice in it. I think he could do a great career! Can't wait to listen to other tracks from him. (He MUST be a big Radiohead's fan, or else something's wrong !) And, anyway, thanks for the lyrics (I am French, and some of them were not obvious to me)...

  • This whole deal must be Radiohead pulling a joke. I want to see/hear Stopa sing if he says this is him.

  • This is blowing my mind so hard.

  • Im radiohead fan but i need accept this a great song

  • Hearing Chris Stopa's story is kind of weird. How the hell did Cold Play make it being a Radiohead rip-off but his band didn't?

    This song is great.

  • Thom! do a duet with this guy!

  • Radiohead sucks. Christopher Stopa is GREAT!

  • i fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it, played it for days and finding out its not radiohead made no difference at all. too late!

  • Sounds a lot like "how can you be sure"

  • Amazing popularity of this cover of stile b sides radiohead

  • christopher should do a duet with thom!

its like multi tracking but live! =D

  • Radiohead or not it's still a fantastic song :D

  • Maybe we should get this guy to replace Thom since it sounds like he's more interested in singing well and making good songs than Thom is.

  • @krick1030 Blasphemy

  • Beautiful, beautiful voice...

  • Pretty good impersonation.

  • Also at beginning it sounds as 'lull'

  • Are you all dumb pricks!??! Are you nuts!?

    It's Thom!

    Fuck you!!

  • @XJustSomeCoolDudeX I hope you're not serious... the guy said it on the television. he did it with his band a long while ago... This is not thom. But sounds a lot like it.

  • @ilikeredandblack

Well it looks like it really was some stupid chris stopa. No wonder now why its such a shit!

  • It's weird how it sounds like Thom almost completely in parts, then an unknown Canadian at others.

  • será que ele tem a doença do michael

  • can you please sing to me next time i buy an ice cream sandwich??

  • its a very nice song but radiohead still overrides with more finesse...and that's what makes them Radiohead.

  • It shows there is not places for everyone, even if you are a great singer/writer/musician ... Beautifull song, I like it !! Even if it's not Radiohead it's very good !!

  • This guy obviously has an amazing voice.

  • Comment removed

  • Why is this guy baking and not singing? He also seems to be a really good songwriter. Not just doing Radiohead covers. which might be the easy choice for him.

  • The best Radiohead song Radiohead never wrote.

  • great song

  • I said it all along. From the start I was pretty sure it wasn't York. So many people here were like, "Fucking retards,..so stupid if you think this isn't Radiohead! So Deaf!" Haha. Sweet.

  • It's remarkable how much this guy sounds like Thom Yorke.

  • confirmed, it's not radiohead. amazing song btw

  • this is defo radiohead. its not bends era tho, listen to 'lurgee' on pablo honey. youll realise this is exactly what his voice was like in the very beginning

  • its not Radiohead, read this article on Ultimate-Guitar: Lost Radiohead Track Revealed As A Hoax

  • It sounds similar but when the bridge and chorus comes you can tell it's not Thom.

  • Do a search for "Christopher Stopa Sit Still" in google, this is a canadian singer songwriter's song written in 2001, not Radiohead

  • I'm pretty sure it's Thom's voice.

  • not Radiohead, but not a bad song. his voice his very similar to Thom Yorke's. maybe whoever he is should start a cover band. I haven't seen a good Radiohead cover band yet. (the lead vocals are always lacking...)

  • Much better than last cd....

  • I have knew this at internet news. I think this music is nice.

  • still

this song is very radiohead to me.

  • I just posted the CNN interview w/ Stopa on my youtube channel, for the curious

  • Comment removed

  • this sounds so much like thom yorke i cant believe its not him his voice is uncanny either way i looked up christopher stopa the guy who really made the song and his other stuff is really good too

  • Great song for a The Office montage

  • It's on iTunes if anyone's interested - search Christopher Stopa - it's on the 'Morris Air EP', and it's called 'Sit Still'.

  • I know!! It's so good. It's my pal Chris Stopa and he is super talented. Hopefully if you all give him enough positive feedback on here he'll actually start performing again and make music. What a happy accident this is!!!

  • @Samonoff21 Was buying his EP a few moments ago! ^^ Tell him i love it! He must keep on playing music. I will recommend his music amongst my friends.

  • @Samonoff21 Hope your friend gets attention thanks to this, it's a very good song - pretty well composed with a nice nostalgic feel to it. He's definitely got my attention at least, I will check the rest of his work right now.

  • this really doesn't sound that much like yorke. The voice is much to clear, I can actually tell what the lyrics are

  • @Moggs24

    ikr?

  • Nice way to get a free (and in this case, deserved) publicity.

  • This is the real Radiohead, i love their 90's albums.

  • @IZZYlive29 Its not. Its Christopher Baker from canada! Search him up on Soundcloud, hes great!

  • @Einareen He's not called Christopher Baker, he's called Christopher Stopa and he is a baker.

  • @quinny707 Haha, you are very right sir. Funny mistake there.

  • good article

    vancouver observer christopher stopa

  • radiohead should cover this.. haha

  • If you search for "public cut and run" that's the actual band that did this song. And he does sound a lot like Yorke

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds like Radiohead :P

  • His voice sounds so much like Thom Yorke's... wish i could sing like Thom. If i could i would walk around singing all the time.

  • it's not radiohead .. some baker from canada.. in 2001

  • i know it's not really radiohead but reminds me of fake plastic trees.

  • this is radiohead. as i just know which is and which one is NOT. screw NME btw..this is radiohead. they just tried to get away from Capitol/EMI lawsuits.

  • Every now and then, he also sounds like Rufus Wainwright.

  • This is a lovely song and no it's not radiohead. I had the pleasure of meeting Christopher years ago in NY and have listened to some of his music in the past. Very talented and I am glad that he has put some of his old music up on soundcloud to listen to. I hope this inspires him to make more music.

  • it showed on CNN that it was made by some guy years ago but now he is bakery owner

  • search after christopher stopa on soundcloud, listen to the first song sit still..

  • I apologize for the insults. I am an idiot and I will own up to my horrible mistake. I was fooled because I'm gullible. Still, love this guy's song and his voice is eerily similar to Yorke's. I thought it was uncanny! Oh well.

  • Sod looking him up. He's just some cunt trying to make a name for himself by using Radiohead's. There's nothing original about him and the world doesn't need another singer-songwriter-twat.

  • Comment removed

  • @Artpezz Hahaha *slow applause*

  • FAKE

  • It doesn't sound like Thom... sometimes yes, sometimes way off, and there are more "way off" ;p

  • I am hungry again I am drunk again.

  • I think you can find the other songs from this guy at a facebook page called ChrisStopaMusic

  • ChrisStopaMusic

Add the w's and the facebook

  • It's by Christopher Stopa, he was just interviewed on CNN. His most recent band Public has a facebook page, there's also one for his solo stuff

  • check out the story... outfront blogs on cnn's web "will the real radiohead please sit still"

  • Its some guy named Christopher Stopa and his band Morris Air, just saw it on CNN. Hot song though.

  • @pr3sid3ntg0d Yep. Pretty good publicity eh? Totally sounds like Yorke.

  • One of the best songs i have heard recently.

Dont really care if its Radiohead or not..

  • if Radiohead would have stayed like this they would be my favorite band but there new stuff blows! this is they radiohead i no and love

  • Great song. Not Radiohead.

  • even if this isn't radiohead, which I think it is, it's still a really great song

  • FAKE !!

i knw excly my uncle voice.. lol

  • It sounds more of The Bends-style, since Pablo Honey-style was compressed, angsty, and more of a rock-orient.

  • If this is Radiohead, this must be from Pablo Honey era, not The Bends

  • >almost 2012

    seriously guise?

  • Sounds exactly like Thom Yorke? Nay. In the beginning yes, but after the first chorus it doesnt sound like Yorke at all. And the guitars? Spare me. No Radiohead guitarists would play like that. Sounds like something in between Eds guitar and johnnys.

  • 90s radiohead

    90s thom yorke voice

  • I'd put my money on it. I think it's legit.

  • Definitely Radiohead. No doubt in my mind.

  • Anyone remember that Paloalto song that everybody thought was Radiohead for years, and turned out it wasn't? James Grundler scrupulously sounded like York on that specific track. This very well could be Radiohead though,.. the music sounds it. ..,but who really cares, especially if they (Radiohead) abstain to release an official version of it, or curb any statement that concretes its euphonious validity. The quality doesn't sound great, and personally I want good quality in a Radiohead song.

  • @sjgeorge32 Palo alto is a legit RH track.. B side from Ok computer.

  • @lampole I know Paloalto is a legit track from B side OK Computer, but there's a BAND, Paloalto. Not a song. For years, tons of Radiohead fans thought this one tune they performed was a Radiohead rarity, but it wasn't.

  • @lampole I should have specified the BAND Paloalto, NOT the Radiohead song. They're a good, solid band. Check em out. Not as cool or prolific as Radiohead, but good. I forget the song they did that everyone thought was Radiohead, but it sounded like Radiohead.

  • If you don't think this is Thom Yorke singing you're fucking deaf.

  • @FarCrysss They just interviewed the guy on CNN. His name is Christopher something.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah to be honest, I own every album and this to me sounds exactly like Thom Yorke singing

  • Hi i'm thom and that's my song fuckers! LOL

  • OF COURSEE IS RADIOHEAD !

  • Comment removed

  • even if its radiohead or not its a nice track...just enjoy the music!!!!

  • from 1:37 onwards it sounds NOTHING like thom yorke. the beginning can surely fool anyone who doesn't listen to them that much, but then it becomes pretty obvious it's a completely different band. can't believe so many people are so fucking deaf.

  • @irossid Thom has a very dynamic voice IMO.

  • I think at some part it sounds like banana co

  • it's Chris Stopa from a toronto band called Public

    myspace . com / public

  • @bathroommonkey76 You maybe right actually, Radiohead may have had the intention of writing a song like this yet didn't want to be recognised as this type of sound at this point in time. There very cunning and clever Radiohead and obsessed with the beauty that they create.

  • Muse are fantastic. Radiohead are stunning.

  • @SMUGBASTARDALERT Both Muse and Radiohead are my favorites :)

  • @SMUGBASTARDALERT Muse WAS fantastic ;p (well at least, I'm only talking about albums. I assume they are still fuckin amazing live)

  • @Cricriiii I'm sure i read somewhere they said they are returning to the origin of symmetry style in an interview somewhere. And I take it you didn't watch their reading show :D

  • The vocals, melody, guitar... all sounds very Pablo Honey-esque. I wouldn't be surprised if this really is Radiohead from the early days. If not, that's a fucking amazing impersonation.

  • listen to this track and then listen to The Bends and tell me if you still think it sounds like him. There's not enough of that like.. mid range throaty sound in the singer here. He's close, but not quite there. Also the guitar player who is supposed to be Greenwood doesn't have the high end bite that Greenwood's guitar has. That high end chomp with dist? Yeah, that's those sexy red lace sensors. This doesn't have any of that. Its also really unlike Yorke to use vocal chorus. Fie upon the troll!

  • @leonkennedy74 I would agree on the guitar part. The voice is kind of different,it could be a On A Friday song, where only Ed was the guitarist but still, the voice just doesn't cut it for me..if it's a different band,as I think it is,I'd like to check them out though.

  • @KlinikaNekros Agreed on finding out who it actually is. Though, I still can't say that I think it's Ed either. Ed's guitar is a Clapton custom, which has a mid booster circuit in it, and at this time, he was using a Rick 360 mostly anyway, and I don't think it's either of those guitars. Not enough chime, ya' know? It's not a bad song though, at all. I'd listen to this artist.

  • This is not Radiohead. The way the words are enunciated is too un-thom like for any era as far as I can tell.

  • @xopenupyourskullx are you kidding me? give me a single man on earth that sounds like this other than Yorke. this is undeniably Radiohead, or at least Thom Yorke

  • @LordHypnos93 awkward...

  • @LordHypnos93 hahahahah, now you look like a fucking moron!

  • @LordHypnos93 Sure. His name is Christopher Stopa, he owns a bakery.

  • Thom Yorke sang like this before. Listen to "Sulk" from the Bends.

  • It has a similar chorus to How Can You Be Sure. Hmm...

  • I listen to Radiohead ALL THE TIME FOR YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS NOW, and I'd be surprised if this is Radiohead. Sounds a little like Thom at the beginning, but at the song courses on, it sounds less and less like him. Not sure, but betting no way. Good song though.

  • @sjgeorge32 this sounds like it's Pablo Honey and a bit of The Bends

  • Chris Morris lived in a rehearsal space on Metropolitan in Brooklyn and was briefly a roadie for Jeff Buckley. It does sound a lot like him. He had a really cool girl friend. She Loved to bake . . .

  • Comment removed

  • Definitely Radiohead.

  • if it isnt radiohead, that is one good thom yorke impression. and the song is really good.

it'd be so funny if it turned out to be muse :))

  • @FakeFlourescentSkies its impossibe for it to be muse

  • @FakeFlourescentSkies It's actually a canadian baker chris stopa according to nme.com

  • i personally dont think this is radiohead, i do however think its a great song!

  • I think his name was Chris Morris . . . . . he might have opened for 'Death Cab for Cutie' at Coney Island one summer???? . . . .

  • There was a guy in the early 2000s floating around Brooklyn bars, like 'Pete's Candy Store' and places like the 'Living Room' that sounds a lot like this . . . . .

    He left town to paint??

  • I was Optimistic, this is All I Need right now! But sadly, Little By Little i'm Let Down and left High And Dry. No Surprises at all. I feel like a right Idioteque! Everything In It's Right Place but it's Just not Radiohead i'm afraid....but I Might Be Wrong.

  • @MrSuperCollider

    That was cute.

  • if this is no thom or radiohead...this bnad must show their faces....I'll be one fan

  • If it's not Radiohead, it's still pretty good.

  • Comment removed

  • I initially thought it was Andy Yorke...but it sounds very very much like old Radiohead (Bends-era) from the music & vocal, and even the production.

  • @divemasterjohn Gonna say it again, too heavy of a snare sound and synth sounds that aren't anywhere where their studio sound takes place. It's impressive how much it sounds like them, but it's still not them.

  • @batflash Yeah...I'll give on that -- the snare doesn't seem very characteristic.

For synths, I don't really hear it...at the beginning? I was thinking it was a guitar w/ heavy reverb...guess it could be organ-ic, which they were using from time to time back then...but I really don't hear outright synth sounds anywhere.

  • @divemasterjohn Also, lyrically, not Yorke. How often have you heard Yorke be so general and broad audienced with his lyrics? He's either very focused and too descriptive, or very abstract and vague with direction, but never delivers such an easy-to-relate-to and sappy lyric as this. Nothing wrong with this lyric, I just don't think it fits his style; old or new.

  • @batflash Firstly, that sounds a lot like Pablo Honey, and secondly, unreleased tracks are typically the ones they don't want released. If this IS Radiohead (which I believe), I'd say it was a concept that just didn't work itself out and was shelved.

  • @Reisgar42 This was obviously mixed to some degree and again, doesn't sound like Radiohead. It's just like that group that sounds like Wings with that song, "Love take me down to the streets". This sort of stuff happens all the time. You know how many people thought that Muse sounded like Radiohead? And I had to sit there and explain to them it wasn't Radiohead just because a guy has a falsetto and a consecutive major to minor chord change. This is just another extension of that.

  • @divemasterjohn It may be synth or may be a doubled up guitar with a really wet effects mix. I'm hearing a filler of some sort. Listening to those drums again and I gotta say it really sounds nothing like Selway's style. Listen to "Blow Out" then listen to "Jigsaw..." and you can see how little Selway's changed. Then listen to p
