  • great stuff enjoying playing along and learning/''//'thanks you play great;.;.;. yes can you do a lesson explain behind the beat vs pushing vs on the beat ????

  • Hey man love your works!

I have a little request 4 u...can u show the different grooves in the lick groove when u play it "on the beat" vs "behind the beat" vs "pushing the beat"?

  • love that beat! and baseline!

  • so we can use the e minor pentatonic notes from the different positions? because so far i only created grooves of 1 position and it kinda sucks.

  • @yonatanyoni83 Yes of course

  • @MarloweDK ok cool thanx.

  • 3 dislikes? Really? How can a person NOT get into this groove?

  • OK I have been practising this bass lick on and off for three weeks, still not quite there .... but you are a great inspiration

  • like if you think he looks like tom from the apprentice :)

  • How many Jazz basses do you have??

  • Really awesome groove. You have that Weekend At Bernie's dance down pat.

  • wow nice player

  • Wow, very thin fretboard there!

  • 3 people tried to play this, threw they're bass out of the window of their 20 story appartment in fustration and then blamed him for it

  • man u good

    Its a tc electronic RH450

  • @MarloweDK and is that a RS 212 cabinet or a RS 210 ?

  • @MarloweDK and whats with the cabinet is a RS or something else ?

  • Hi Thomas, sounds better than with the Korg.

  • Love your videos and your amazing style of playing. Thank you!

Would be nice to see a close up of the left hand technique sometimes when you show it slowly?

    Keep it up hombre!

  • That truly is a great-sounding bass.

  • todos los jazz bass tenes ?? jajaja

  • Hey Marlowe, Where do you get all those drumbeats from? Love everything you do...Thanks for helping us

  • I use different sources of backing, but this is from garageband on mac

  • hey marlowe, your lessons are realy good.

  • whats those scars on your bass from? or whatever they are o.O

(the ones near the control plate)

  • I am a beginner playing with a acoustic bass. I have been watching your videos for a long time now to the point to finally make my bass sound like is playing something. The videos are perfect in every aspect: length, quality, replay, everything. A extra close up shoot on the left hand fret/work is something that beginners could use big time, instead of replaying the videos over and over. God gave the man the gift of music and you are blessed with it. Obrigado!

  • De nada;-)

  • @MarloweDK HI MARLOW I WANTED TO ASK YOU IF YOU COULD PLAY THE BASS LINE TO STOOL PIGEON BY KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS AS I CANT SEEM TO FIND THIS TAB ON THE NET , CAN YOU HELP ,,,

  • That's one funky mother fuc...

    "Watch yo' mouth!"

I'm just talkin' 'bout MarlowDK, babies!

  • Nice work!

  • what drum machine do you use?

  • dude you always know how to get the juices flowing ... and thats all i have to say about that>

mm hmm _ holly to the peacock

  • Man that is a very nice Amp

  • This guy is a hidden son of Bernard Edwards from Chic ! :o)

  • haha !

    agreed :)

  • incredibly nice work...

  • Nice......

  • Marlowe who has the merchandising for the MarkloweDK bobblehead that plays these "Lick of the Day" in succession? ;-)

    Let's see - 17,000 members x $20 - let's see...you could buy a nice house in the Danish countryside where you wouldn't NEED headphones....

    Keep it up!

  • yeah, such a cheeky fill... great. And still that unmistakenable MarlowDK groove.

  • @zaksnaporaz what does cheeky mean?

  • with cheeky I mean a child-like bouncy fresh bold audacious "ain't that cute" thing

  • I love it! I'll be practicing this one tonight.

  • isn't it a blues scale?

  • yea but it's missing the flat 5 (b flat)

  • pentatonic has 5 notes. adding the flat 5th would make it 6 notes and turn it into the blues scale

  • yea i know, "borysjohn" asked if it was a blues scale and i said it would be if he added the flat 5

  • but there is a b5... He plays this note in the riff. It is a blues scale

  • Well the slide up to 5th, could be seen as the 4th or b5, so yes :-) And in fact a bluesscale IS a minor pentatonic with the b5 added

  • Hey MarloweDK i was wondering.. at the start of the lick on the E an A strings,, you play the E with your index and the A with your middle finger,, is this in any way faster or better than just raking the E after you have played the A string?

    Thanks in advance, bbBassYo

  • Dont know if its faster than raking, its just what i do

  • Hi Marlowe. Superb lick!

Quick question about the RH450: Can you use it with headphones and without cab? I plan on buying one, but do not plan on buying any cab. Problem is: I asked a guitar store and I was told that, even if you want to play with headphones, you have to plug the RH450 to a cab (for impedance or resistance, or whatever reason). So could I just have: RH450, headphones, a bass and a plug? Thanks

  • Yes, its built to use without cab and its got a headphones output (with built in cabsimulator). This kind of question is a googlesearch away mind you

  • Thanks Marlowe for the question but it actually isn't findable via google: I know that there is a headphone input but my question was about whether it was necessary to plug a cab even if you will play with headphones (which is what a TC Electronics dealer told me)

  • If youre talking about just playing with headphones to practise or something, just for your own ears.. then im pretty sure you wouldnt need to, the cab output will be completely separate from the headphone output (cab output would be powered and way to powerful to have to be related to the headphone output, plus headphone output are usually stereo), hope that helped..

  • I stand corrected, its not easy to find, but it can be used without a cab without damaging the amp, got the info from tc top marketing guy

  • Saludos Marlo...me gustaria saber si utilizas algun tipo de procesador de efectos... y tambien si tienes alguna linea de bajo para el estilo Gospel.

  • Damn this man is good.

  • you should do a bass lesson on how to play jazz fusion

  • Methinks that was a bit of "Eat that question" at the end there? Nicely done. Even though I'm a guitar player myself I love listening to your bass lines.

  • sempre GRANDE...hooo è tornato il mio basso preferito!!!!

  • care to share your settings for the rebelhead?

  • read the info box;-)

  • cool!

  • Wow great setup. Those RH450's look very nice.

About the vid: what do you mean not enough light? I think it's plenty! Maybe zoom in a tiny bit next time?

  • NEW CAMERA NICE!

  • I love your work! Cool groove!!

  • Still spitting out those grooves!!! Sickening stuff

  • man... I almost stopped playing bass 5 months ago, but after watching your videos and your website, i just felt the urge to play my bass again.

    Thank you!!!!

  • I love this. I could jam out to it alllll dayyy....

  • Man, I am soooo envious of your RH450. If you ever lose interest in it, Ill gladly take it.

  • How many basses do you have Mr Marlowe?

  • félicitations pour la qualité de la vidéo et l'audio ..... vous pour votre volonté et la motivation

  • you should just make a video showing all ur basses cause u obviously have alot

  • félicitations pour la qualité de la vidéo et l'audio ..... vous pour votre volonté et la motivation....... ; )

  • New camera looks great, a big improvement. How are you syncing the audio (recorded in garage band) with the video? Thanks.

  • importing the video into garage band and aligning the garageband audio with the video camera crummy mic recorded track. Each on a separate track, i align the start peaks - in this case the first beat of the rhythm.

  • I zoom in and align visually

  • Is bass... eh.. fun to learn? Quite easier then guitar? If so, I`M SO FREAKIN IN!!

  • It's much easier for bigger hands. Bigger intervals between frets, more space between strings. Plus chances are you'll only be playing one note, maybe two notes at once as opposed to chords. As someone who's tried both guitar and bass, bass is much easier, and IMO much more fun.

  • i second this comment... I played guitar for 8 years before switching over to bass and I have no intentions of ever switching back... its so much more fun to sit in the pocket and just groove

  • Especially once you get good enough to move away from simple root notes and start moving into more melodic stuff. On an unrelated note, how many musicians can say that they regularly hit their instrument, and avoid being a drummer?

  • @MarloweDK Thanks for the prompt response.

  • tightttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt......

  • you use a HD camera here???, very nice, i love the clean video..

  • This is amazing!

Thank you for better video quality! :-)

    Cheers.

  • Sweet! :)

  • sweet beat =3

  • oh no, i was wrong... The sticker was already on it... !

  • Sweet lick yet again, I really am learning quite alot from you :D

  • A new sticker on the red fender!!!!! :)

  • pretty cool! i love you play! LOL

please watch my videos Marlowe.. i want your opinion! ^^

  • sounds good marlow, the new set video/audio set up is good and tht line is pretty sweet

  • nice groove there buddy

  • same

  • Can't watch the video, it keeps on giving me an error.

  • @mazatleco17 if you add &fmt=5 or &fmt=18 to the end, that fixes it.
