@MrAerial12345 My mistake about the Teza, but that doesn't change anything, there are other examples : 4.605 performed by Daiane Dos Santos is a F element (G in straight position) and I doubt any other women will performing it before decades.
So if Dos Santos' move has been added as an F value, why won't a dance element ???
I am ready to believe you, but again you still didn't show me where that rule is written, you just assume. So prove, otherwise it's just gossip and rumour.
@rickou2 Im going to show this from past experience.Acrobatic elements require a lot more power and energy to perform them, because Acrobatic element fill up the D-score.The FIG i think recognizes it and gives low values to dance elements becase the acrobatic elements fill up the d-score for the gymnasts. The FIG devaluates a lot of pirouettes as well and bar transfers. Elizabeth Seitz's transfer is an E,it should be a G.Lauren Mitchells's turn should be F because it harder than an Okino
@brycehelmer Again this is speculation, you think but you are not sure. I don't say that you are wrong, I don't know the answer.
I just say that when we publish some information on the internet, we have to make sure it's true, otherwise it's better not to say anything.
I still didn't see any official text confirming that the FIG gives lower value to dance elements, and until we can see it this is only speculation and rumours.
@brycehelmer actually fig are trying to make it more of a sport of grace and elligance as well as power, so they might actually give it a high score, and you can connect spins to leaps so theres still connection bonuses there and a few gymnasts already do double as well as tripple, so a quad isnt that extreeme in terms of how many gymnasts would attempt, because there would proberbly be alot who would, just my opinion, of course your are entitled to your own!
@xgymnasticsxcrazyx thats your opinion as well.i respect that. I feel that the FIG wont give it an F value or higher because i feel that they devaluate some pirouetting and bars transfers as well.Lauren Mitchell's turn on beam should be an F because its a lot harder than doing the okino.and Elizabeth Seitz bar transfer should be a G as well as Huang's endo with full turn. The FIG might see a spike in that move, and they might downgrade it in the future like the RAy and Church.
@MrAerial12345 Again you just assume without giving any proof. So excuse-me but as long as you are unable to give any clear reference, this is just gossip and rumour.
Plus, when you say "do you really think any gymnast besides Mai would perform it", you have for example the Teza on the beam (5.506) which is an F value, although Elvire Teza has always been the only gymnast to perform it.
So why would this logic apply to acrobatic elements and not to dance elements ???
@MrAerial12345 Did you read my last message ? I just said that if there are no dance element over E value at the moment, that doesn't mean there can't be any, because as far as I know there are not special rule for rules preventing from adding F/G dance elements to the CoP.
I could be wrong, but you are the one talking about that, so if there is such a rule, then where is it ??? Please quote your references and prove what you say, or don't say it if you are not sure !
@MrAerial12345 You just assume that the FIG doesn't give any value over E, but there are for example the Garrison (1.718 - G element on beam, F if tucked), or the Magaña (6.607 - G element on bars).
It is true that AT THE MOMENT there exists no F/G dance element, but that doesn't mean there can't be any.
If you are absolutely sure to be right then tell us where this rule is formally written. Otherwise, please just say "I think that..." or "maybe..." instead of an affirmation without any proof.
@MrAerial12345 Where did you see that rule ? Everything is explained on the FIG's website : fig-gymnastics. com / vsite / vcontent / content / transnews / 0,10869,5187-188043-19728-44766-315470-18047-5233-layout188-205265-news-item,00.html (suppress all spaces in the URL).
There is a minimum (C difficulty) but there is no maximum, so I believe that a new element could also be F or G.
There's another Japanese girl who did a quad turn on BB - Yui Fuiji. Her reaction was priceless too. :) Go watch it :D. And her quad turn was slower and looked more elegant.
Definitely deserves an F. Even if they said they'll cap turns at E, that skill is clearly hard considering nobody has done it yet even with the emphasis on turns in the COP. And since a triple is an E, it would be stupid to make a quad an E as well.
@LMA629 except the code has said it will cap all dance elements on beam and floor and all pirouetting skills on bars at an E so i wouldn't be surprised if this gets an E as well as the okino. yet another thing the code has done wrong. i'm all for keeping dance moves and turns on bars from being ranked as high as truely hard acrobatics, but when i dance move or a particular turn on bars (like HQS's eagle endo ono) is really hard, it needs to be rewarded with an F or greater.
What would be the D-value of this skill. A quad spin..and one has ever attempted that I know has ever even attempted a triple. She is so controlled when she steps out of it!
@Jameshistory I think Sanne Wevers has done a triple and a video came out earlier this year of another Japanese girl (I forget her name, but I think she's trained by the same coach as Mai) doing the same skill.
@Jameshistory The FIG refuses to give a rating higher than E for any dance skill, or they have so far. They may have to reevaluate, because a double turn is already a D. I doubt it will get a G though, so F at the highest, but I wouldn't be surprised if it only gets an E.

@gymnastiquegym Okino did a triple, this is not a triple spin it's a quadruple spin, so it could still get named after her.
