Really don't think that was a fair comparison. The lancer has been my favorite car from day one and I recently just purchased one. I don't care for wrx's because to many people down here have them. Both are great cars I just feel like the sentra looks like a fanned prius. My gts may not have two hundred horses but at least I look good driving in it.
The gts does not compare the the Wrx in any way. The Wrx is a whole different world. The lancer gts has 168hp and the Wrx has 265hp. My Wrx could run 13.5 all day, and that is before I took it to stage 2. God knows what it would run now. Plus the cvt in the gts is garbage. The competitor to the Wrx, the ralliart is still slower than the Wrx by miles. Right now I am pushing 350bhp, and I would love to see a n/a gts even stay close with me in a drag.
@Mogul20478 Wait till more aftermarket drive train parts come out for us N/A lancer enthusiast. SpeedCorps and Works already got an aftermarket line for us. And couple years from now I bet our N/A lancers will be on the same tip as evos. And I've seen Evos converted to FWD and they hit up the 11's on the drag strip. And our N/A Lancer is lighter then an evo by 1,000 curb weight so thats a plus.

Not a fair comparison...But as always they pair two cars with very different performance capabilities. A more competitive car would have been the the 2010 Sentra Spec V with a 2010 GTi. Both have 200HP engines. The GTi has 17 lb.ft more torque & is lighter by about 152 lbs. But those numbers can arent much when comparing power to weight ratios. I have driven both. I wound up with an 2007 Spec V because of price...at 22k ODO pre-owned, $14,150 out the door..couldn't beat it. Nissan - SHIFT.

I'll take running 10 seconds flat for $6000 anyday over the price of a Lancer plus god knows how much money you've sunk into it to get it running 14.2. I'm not hating; good on you for getting it to 14.2, thats a hell of a lot faster than what it is stock. I just dont see the point in sinking that kind of money into something that, at the end of the day is still just a Lancer.

Its true that I could feel more power (just slightly) with the Sentra, I choose the Lancer based on looks because they were quite close in terms of performance.
Also I know Mitsus had a bad rep with quality, but now they offer a 10 year power-train warranty, so I'm not worried.
Even the Sentra is fast the Gts can still catch up because of cornering/tuning and has stiffer chassis than the Evolution 9. You guys are being bias over Hp. That all that matters nowadays it's about hp. Typical...

nissan is alot more reliable than mitsubishi and they last longer, even if the lancer looks better the sentra will come out on the better end and plus the sentra is cheaper so i would choses nissan.

I really don't think the Mitsu' would be the one to go with. I mean come on, Nissan has their NISMO tuning brand for aftermarket goodies WITH a warranty. Sure, Mitsu's are easy to tune, but almost any part you put on voids your factory warranty, plus, why go with less power when you could start with the SPEC-V and have a great platform?
I'm sure there's quite a cult out there that are Lancer fans. I'm just saying that the Nissan would be a much better platform to start with. And Nismo, unlike other companies is actually go-fast friendly with Nissan.

Yes, the Ralliart and EVOs are different, and much better- no question. But even without the turbos and AWD, the reviewer states that if you are looking to do any tuning or work under the hood, that the Lancer GTS is the way to go. ;)

Actually Nissan is known for high rpms...the cvt transmission will keep the rpm gauge at around 5500 - 6000 full throttle. The reason why the Lancer is prob slower is because the power comes after 3000 rpm...and its not enough torque really...but really...CVT gives enough RPM...I have a Lancer GTS 09 so I know...lol...
and ok you say you get more power in a manual but you're not gonna change gear beyond the red line...it is obvious but...its hazy...
Of course your not going to shift at red line but, but you and i both know that, you do get more rpm power out of a manual car rather than a CVT transmission.
Yea that surprised me as well. They didn't even opt to compare it to a standard transmission on the Lancer. The CVT is fun to drive, but it's slow as hell.
get the regular edition. Lancers are the best cars on the road. Lady in a pick up ran through a stop sign and i hit her doing 60mph, flipped end over end and landed on the drivers side in the ditch. Broke a toe and messed up a finger. Insurance bought me a new one and i upgraded to a gts. I LOVE IT!!
ok first of all the sentra is NOT in the same class as the lancer gts. they should have tested a civic si that makes 198 horses and has a 6 speed gear box. but the civic si would abslouteley smoke the SER. the fit and finish, power, and looks. sorry nissan but that sentra is got to be the ulgiest sentra so far.
you are entitled to your own opinion, but it would not "absolutely smoke the SE-R." The Civic is lighter than the Sentra, and that's the only reason it's .1 seconds faster. The SE-R is more powerful.. 3 more ponies, but some 40 more lb ft of torque. I've been in both the new SI and the new Spec V and the fit and finish is of the same quality. Looks, purely based upon your own opinion. I hate the interior clusters of the Civics. The only thing the Sentra is lacking is Navigation/ IRS.
oh and they both fucking rattle.. just a little bit. But it seriously isn't a big deal, it's a compact sports car lol not a luxury car. They both have nice soundsystems to kill any rattling on bumpy roads ;). They are honestly both really nice cars, especially for the money. Idk why everyone has to bash this or that against that or this. I mean, I can appreciate any good performing, fun to drive car. But for the record, I would pick the Spec V between the two.

So I am not sure where you are getting the idea that Sentra is more 'set up' for performance.

Don't even try to compare Ralliart and EVO's with the Spec V. They are totally different. AWD, TURBO, etc.

Not trying to compare the Lancer GTS to its Ralliart and EVO brethren. However you proved my point: The Lancer platform itself is home to more performance than the sentra platform.
Sentra-tops out in this model.
Yes, the Ralliart and EVOs are different, and much better- no question. But even without the turbos and AWD, the reviewer states that if you are looking to do any tuning or work under the hood, that the Lancer GTS is the way to go. ;)

Of course. The Evo is better than the Spec V...It has turbo and AWD.
Throw a turbo on the Spec V and you have a more likely competitor.
I think the reason he says the GTS might be the way to go is because the EVO sets the precedent for all Lancers.
On the Spec V...it's all up to you to make something Nissan didn't produce on it's own.

the new sentras are too heavy! 3k pounds! the 05 sentra is 2700 pounds power to weight ratio is better on the 05 by a pound on the newer sentras.

Actually Nissan is known for high rpms...the cvt transmission will keep the rpm gauge at around 5500 - 6000 full throttle. The reason why the Lancer is prob slower is because the power comes after 3000 rpm...and its not enough torque really...but really...CVT gives enough RPM...I have a Lancer GTS 09 so I know...lol...
and ok you say you get more power in a manual but you're not gonna change gear beyond the red line...it is obvious but...its hazy...

Of course your not going to shift at red line but, but you and i both know that, you do get more rpm power out of a manual car rather than a CVT transmission.

Yea that surprised me as well. They didn't even opt to compare it to a standard transmission on the Lancer. The CVT is fun to drive, but it's slow as hell.

get the regular edition. Lancers are the best cars on the road. Lady in a pick up ran through a stop sign and i hit her doing 60mph, flipped end over end and landed on the drivers side in the ditch. Broke a toe and messed up a finger. Insurance bought me a new one and i upgraded to a gts. I LOVE IT!!

ok first of all the sentra is NOT in the same class as the lancer gts. they should have tested a civic si that makes 198 horses and has a 6 speed gear box. but the civic si would abslouteley smoke the SER. the fit and finish, power, and looks. sorry nissan but that sentra is got to be the ulgiest sentra so far.

you are entitled to your own opinion, but it would not "absolutely smoke the SE-R." The Civic is lighter than the Sentra, and that's the only reason it's .1 seconds faster. The SE-R is more powerful.. 3 more ponies, but some 40 more lb ft of torque. I've been in both the new SI and the new Spec V and the fit and finish is of the same quality. Looks, purely based upon your own opinion. I hate the interior clusters of the Civics. The only thing the Sentra is lacking is Navigation/ IRS.

oh and they both fucking rattle.. just a little bit. But it seriously isn't a big deal, it's a compact sports car lol not a luxury car. They both have nice soundsystems to kill any rattling on bumpy roads ;). They are honestly both really nice cars, especially for the money. Idk why everyone has to bash this or that against that or this. I mean, I can appreciate any good performing, fun to drive car. But for the record, I would pick the Spec V between the two.

They are the same price(thousand difference on bases). Why not compare?
And the Sentra has much more torque than the Si. I've seen the two race and 9 times out of 10 the Sentra wins from a dig. On a roll it is anyone's game.

this is just a stupid comparison, can't compare cars from different segments....compare the sentra with the ralliart, gti, wrx, mazdaspeed, caliber srt4, civic Si or anything in the same segment and that will be a fair comparison, in which the sentra goes really bad...
