1980s cartoons benefited quite a bit from the writing of future Babylon 5 Creator J Michael Straczynski eg He-Man, She-Ra, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors [best music, BTW], and The Real Ghostbusters.
Whoever did this did an excellent job! I wish that they would do a remake of She-Ra using the new digital technology we have for shows. I am sure it will look awesome. This is just a teaser and it is pretty cool. Great Job!

IIRC, Mike Young Production's (MYP) plans were to introduce Princess Adora 1st and then She-Ra during the series 3rd season, which Mattel axed.
I happen to have (from an eBay seller) the Princess Adora figure based on MYP's plans for the character (sculpted by The Four Horsemen, IIRC) sold by Mattel's retail web outfit (also there was a She-Ra figure sold at San Diego's National Comic Book Convention (IIRC) a few years back.
I don't know, I could never get over the way that they seemed to spin their weapons in impossible ways every few seconds. That and Skeletor just didn't feel right.
Humm I lik the design, a little butch in the contours but yeah very updated image. I like the new sword design although I think the original look of the swords should have remained. I do not like He-Man's new sword at all. Pity she did not make it for Season 3.

I guess that's why they just decided to make She-ra an exclusive in her own cartoon, whille trying to keep He-man fresh in the minds of kids by having him do occassional cameos in her cartoon! But He-man was one of the top 80's cartoons! I guess with time, popularity wore off! That and Thundercats REALLY just zoomed passed He-man in popularity I think. TC had a LONG run!

I would have loved a re launching of this show. Just for the fact it would have been much harder to keep Hordack exct from guessing at the truth of She-Ra aka Adora.

I think Hollywood sacked all the writers so they can concentrate on remakes. All the writers have moved onto work for compare the Market (those meerkat adverts rock)
I think the smell of money made the majority of studio and network execs forget about their business' Barrels of Creativity.
That's not to say that there weren't any bad cartoons in the earlier decades but it's safe to say that most of today's 'toons are riding the coattails of previous series. (Robotboy seems to be a play on a certain Teenage Robot, for example)
I doubt that it will happen but perhaps it's high time that the series we used to enjoy were rebroadcast.
Some 'retro' channels already do this, in a way, but you generally have to pay extra for them. 9_9
People need to see what the medium is capable of and series like Daria, Downtown, Ren and Stimpy and even 'cheesy' series like Mighty Orbots, He-Man and She-ra would be a healthy start. (although my memories of the last two are rusty) ^_^U
We love exploring other people's imaginations.
We need better writing and animation to showcase them.
We *DESERVE* better than what is currently available.

Its not like how Ninja turtles tried to show up Transformers by finding more ways for mutant ninjas to be cool in a different way than space robots. Since pokemon and yugioh you have cartoons with nigh identical themes just competing for exposure by volume, not by making unique material (unless you count the rare exceptions)
@TheGreatCommission79 This isn't the exactly the best cartoon of that age.. But this is still 100 times better then the shit that is on today. As I have a little sister at the age of 6, I'm forced to watch todays cartoons every now and again.
@MrGreany A lot of the stuff on these days isn't even appropriate for them to watch that is supposedly geared toward children. It's devoid of teaching them good from evil, right from wrong, unlike shows like this whose writers actually understood who was watching and that they were impressionable. When I have kids I will have DVDs of these shows for them rather than have them watch today's garbage.

meh, remakes never seem to live up to the originals. Sure the original had its cheesy elements, but it was fun. It was light. Hollywood always ends up missing the boat on why the original was so great and instead of improving it they ruin it. What are you talking about???! The new he-man was a fantastic execution of honor and tribute. It wasn't suppose to be a re-make, otherwise they'd make it look exactly, just like that Bryan Singer Superman flick was a total re-make. THAT's a re-make, this was a rendition honoring the ideas and the coolness of it all, like the new GetSmart with Steve Carell; not a re-make, another expression that aligns itself exactly to the striking idea's base.
Which ruined the characters in the process. I don't remember Adam being an almost snarky sort of youth, nor Orko sounding like he was two steps from being more fearful than the cat. Remake, rendition, still didn't live up to the original.
They didn't ruin the characters in the process pal. You can't ruin or cause damage in earnest efforts of honor, tribute, and RESPECT. The problem is your own expectation of rigid perception, I think. You obviously missed the point. Heman doesn't carry a mechanical fancy sword, beastman isn't that gigantic, Randor wasn't that able, cringer could talk, skeletor's face is yellow; DUH!! And stratos didn't have an Scottish accent. Yet you still didn't get it. Not the cartoons fault.

That was an excellent intro for she- ra. It is a shame that it was not finished. It would have been a great show. If the producers are reading this finish the series it make all fans happy.
Had the new series continued they were going to bring She -Ra back, shame it got cancelled as I thought the second series of the new show was pretty good.
ok new he-man is quite good...but cmon mates we like the old sword without any transformation! try to do it like filmation. i am 30 years old and i was very dissapointed seeing a "boy" called the new he-man. bring back the old one he-man and that will be a huge success,
they did have plans to remake she-ra but before they could heman got canceled.they said they planed to introduce she-ra and the horde in the 3rd season but got conceled after the 2nd.
They did make a She-Ra action figure from the 200x collection. You can find one on EBay, it's where I got mine. And it looks like her not like back in the day when they didn't even look like the same character.
She-ra would work well as an animated series now, probably better than He-Man. Etheria always had more potential for story lines. It had the rebellion going on and no matter what anyone says, She-Ra always had better powers than He-Man.
@OuijaFreak As long as you drop most of the character traits from her companions. That show was just Barbie in a He-man outfit shoved into an Easy-Bake Oven with Jem and the Holograms. Which was alright for its time, I guess.
@primohomme I'll grant you the power to heal animals was cool, but the sword transforming into pretty much anything was too silly, imho. And it's her companions I'm really talking about. Even most of the Villains seemed one dimensional compared to the lamest of He-Man's adversaries. Of course, it may just have been my tastes, but that's how I see it. Caveat: I do have the whole She-Ra run, my 3 year old watches it, old He-Man and new He-Man
She could heal, period, not just animals. She could talk to animals, her sword could transform into many useful things she needed in her fight or adventure, her horse had wings, etc...that sounds a lot cooler than just super strength.
Again, the healing powers were cool, but the sword transforming wasn't that bright. At one point, she turned it into a net and threw it away! It was just too easy of a plot device. But again, I'm mainly talking about the companion characters. I guess its the fact that the show was aimed at the "My Little Pony" and "Barbie" crowd had quite a lot to do with it, but really, sometimes they were just too ... "lite" or something.

Oh, come on! He-Man 2002 is not like the classic He-Man, but is a great remake.
Remember that the people likes and unlikes change across the time. The remake is not copy the old series, that it a simple copy, is to use the old ideas and "translate" it to the new generations.
SirMhytos I agree. I believe the New He-man is better than the old He-man. But the problem was that the generation wasn't ready for the new he-man & was just accustomed to the old one.
@SirMhytos most of the "remake" are shit! examples? he-man, V-series, Planet of Apes, Ford thunderbird 2002, Ford Cobra 2006 (ok this one is not the worst case), Bayformers, pyscho, and other. Just a few a acceptable and fewer better than the original. @SirMhytos they never did and never will and i dont know if anyone know this but the reason He-Man got cancelled after 2 season was because when it premier it aired on Fridays on Toonami @ 6pm (if memory serves me right) and when they moved it to Saturdays well it fail in the ratings. this is the reason why i moved to anime...they have much better stories, they have a theme and better overall characters
Very unfortunate that this didn't come to fruition. Because He-Man: Masters of the Universe didn't make it to the third season, they didn't include Adora/She-Ra. She was going to be introduced in the third season. Now, I'm wondering, how in the HECK did they get that clip of her in front of Greyskull in the same animation as the series....hmmm?
I adored She-Ra, she was so awesome. I would totally watch this if they decided to remake it. I hated the new he man. :( They made his personality completely different!

not so much the edits as the original art. Castle grey skull has a skull and the evil character skeletor IS a skull. The good guys shouldnt live in skull castles. Just looking at it from a kids perspective.

I'm honestly hopeing that all these cartoons lik Thundercats, Voltron, heaven for bid She-Ra, and He-Man (not the masters of the universe from the 80's) make live action movies that are just a little bit better than G.I.Joe,...that one could have been better :(

as for mazinger it was huge in japan and south america.. chck it out..kind of like gigantor..
GI joe was ehhhh but i agree...same as transformers..fun to watch but as a fan living through that time..i was disappointed.. at least we have the dark knight and the new superman reboot to look forward to.. : )

@TheGreatCommission79 I wouldn't really call this show or He-Man imaginative, they was the concept of several 80's scifi and fantasy films mased together. The problem comes from cartoons not taking their concepts and stories from film anymore.

meh, remakes never seem to live up to the originals. Sure the original had its cheesy elements, but it was fun. It was light. Hollywood always ends up missing the boat on why the original was so great and instead of improving it they ruin it. The new He-man was a total failure, could only imagine what the new She-ra would be. I'll stick to the original thanks.

What are you talking about???! The new he-man was a fantastic execution of honor and tribute. It wasn't suppose to be a re-make, otherwise they'd make it look exactly, just like that Bryan Singer Superman flick was a total re-make. THAT's a re-make, this was a rendition honoring the ideas and the coolness of it all, like the new GetSmart with Steve Carell; not a re-make, another expression that aligns itself exactly to the striking idea's base.
They even had moral segments at the end of each

Which ruined the characters in the process. I don't remember Adam being an almost snarky sort of youth, nor Orko sounding like he was two steps from being more fearful than the cat. Remake, rendition, still didn't live up to the original.

They didn't ruin the characters in the process pal. You can't ruin or cause damage in earnest efforts of honor, tribute, and RESPECT. The problem is your own expectation of rigid perception, I think. You obviously missed the point. Heman doesn't carry a mechanical fancy sword, beastman isn't that gigantic, Randor wasn't that able, cringer could talk, skeletor's face is yellow; DUH!! And stratos didn't have an Scottish accent. Yet you still didn't get it. Not the cartoons fault.

Didn't really care for the graphics to the new he-man. but would have really loved for them to do the she-ra growing up on both. I"ve gone out and bought all of the original series to watch over and over again. thouse were the best he-man than she-ra and than dads star trec lol miss thouse days

ok new he-man is quite good...but cmon mates we like the old sword without any transformation! try to do it like filmation. i am 30 years old and i was very dissapointed seeing a "boy" called the new he-man. bring back the old one he-man and that will be a huge success,

they did have plans to remake she-ra but before they could heman got canceled.they said they planed to introduce she-ra and the horde in the 3rd season but got conceled after the 2nd.

They did make a She-Ra action figure from the 200x collection. You can find one on EBay, it's where I got mine. And it looks like her not like back in the day when they didn't even look like the same character.

She-ra would work well as an animated series now, probably better than He-Man. Etheria always had more potential for story lines. It had the rebellion going on and no matter what anyone says, She-Ra always had better powers than He-Man.

@primohomme I'll grant you the power to heal animals was cool, but the sword transforming into pretty much anything was too silly, imho. And it's her companions I'm really talking about. Even most of the Villains seemed one dimensional compared to the lamest of He-Man's adversaries. Of course, it may just have been my tastes, but that's how I see it. Caveat: I do have the whole She-Ra run, my 3 year old watches it, old He-Man and new He-Man

She could heal, period, not just animals. She could talk to animals, her sword could transform into many useful things she needed in her fight or adventure, her horse had wings, etc...that sounds a lot cooler than just super strength.

Again, the healing powers were cool, but the sword transforming wasn't that bright. At one point, she turned it into a net and threw it away! It was just too easy of a plot device. But again, I'm mainly talking about the companion characters. I guess its the fact that the show was aimed at the "My Little Pony" and "Barbie" crowd had quite a lot to do with it, but really, sometimes they were just too ... "lite" or something.

Oh, come on! He-Man 2002 is not like the classic He-Man, but is a great remake.
Remember that the people likes and unlikes change across the time. The remake is not copy the old series, that it a simple copy, is to use the old ideas and "translate" it to the new generations.

@SirMhytos most of the "remake" are shit! examples? he-man, V-series, Planet of Apes, Ford thunderbird 2002, Ford Cobra 2006 (ok this one is not the worst case), Bayformers, pyscho, and other. Just a few a acceptable and fewer better than the original. And He-Man is really between gay and steroids its really violent or non reason, th eoriginal one, was far better you will see with the pat of the years which one will keep on the generations minds! ,

@SirMhytos they never did and never will and i dont know if anyone know this but the reason He-Man got cancelled after 2 season was because when it premier it aired on Fridays on Toonami @ 6pm (if memory serves me right) and when they moved it to Saturdays well it fail in the ratings. this is the reason why i moved to anime...they have much better stories, they have a theme and better overall characters

Very unfortunate that this didn't come to fruition. Because He-Man: Masters of the Universe didn't make it to the third season, they didn't include Adora/She-Ra. She was going to be introduced in the third season. Now, I'm wondering, how in the HECK did they get that clip of her in front of Greyskull in the same animation as the series....hmmm?
