to the guys saying you can't get back in a boat, it's actually really easy... I've coached novices to get back into boats after flipping. I mean racing shells too....
@bl1ssneso depends i have a friend that is in rowing since like little kid (his father rowshe even has his own boats) right now he is juvinile champion internationaly (he is 15yold)the guy is HUGE, and i really mean HUGE over 110 kilos and VERY tal he rows good but when he fell of a double&single for fun he took10min to get back in with alot trouble xD and im like tall too, but alot more skinny (im same age but im 65 kilos) and i took 30 secs to get in a single when i fell when i was a NOVICE
@bectes1995 well... yeah he is more on the fat side... xD though i think he lost weight already to 100kilos, and he is tall... he is a head or more taller than me and im about 1.80m
drama queens is right... they must have been tired after a race like that but still... last time i let go of the oar after a race i was nearly slapped in return by the captain.. they dont teach you to get back into the boat.. they teach you to suck it in and make sure the boat doesnt roll over just cos you want to show how happy and tired you are after a race you won.
You can't get out of a rowing shell and get back in. Attempt it, you'll either die trying or split the boat in half. I'm sure someone's done it once or twice, but that's just not something you do; they intentionally flipped it.
Well, you do the math. 6 foot. 150 lbs. 24 inch scull. So mixed. It was my first day on the upgraded 24, so thats why I flipped. But it was a single. Just put the boat up, flip the oars so the handles face towards the bow, get in the back-this may require you to straddle the bow- and inch upwards. When near the cockpit, sit up and slow-motionly move into the cockpit.
1.80m? 180cm then, thats, very very very very heavy for that height, im that height at im just under 80kg and im quite bulky. xD

Getting back in is pretty easy, its one of the first things I teach new rowers.

Not true. I just flipped today in my scull and easily got back in.
Alup62893 3 years ago
That's... impressive. Are you very light, in a very heavy boat, or in a rec single? :P
