The capturing of the pawn on d6 is actually a mistake. It's what's called a poisoned pawn. If you analyze the game you can see this is where all of white's troubles begin.
Majority?O don't think so.Kasparov won against majority of early-stage chess engines,THAT may be so.But we can't claim that referring to modern over 3000+ chess engines.
I think karpov was the best too, but: Even those 3000+ chess-computers have a hard time with those deep postitional postitions that karpov plays well.
I never got the impression that G.K. is sexist tbh. Or egotistical for that matter. Feeling superior, that's the impression I get. No problem there though, because he *is* superior, or at least he was.
I've always liked Garry for being openly anti feminist - as opposed to the politically correct BS that most people follow nowadays - so as far as being sexist goes - more power to him for that - and may there be more men like him. And as far as being egotistical goes - I must disagree - in fact he was always quite matter of fact and honest about his own chess abilities and those of others - He was the last of the great pioneering champions I think.

Strongly akin to the well known Karpov-Kasparov 16-th game of the 1985 match...Full activity for black pieces while the white ones just watch.

anyone else notice that at 1:00, that is the exact same position as fischer vs. spasky in game 6(?) during their opening play

Such a shame Karpov lost, just wasn't his day.

Thanks kingcrusher. Karpov doesn't have 'bad days' like this too often but he was outplayed here.

But I still think black's chances for winning are still quite good after 14.Qd2

It looks like 14. Qd2 deserves attention.

kasparov = the best

Karpov the best! Computer says he is a player who makes less mistakes than anyone else in the worls, incl.Kasparov and Fischer.

I'll say that there is no "best" chess player, but a handful of "the world's top" players.

But Kasparov won against majority of Chess engines you mean:)

kasparov is very calculating.

even though i've never liked kasparov's personality
(a little sexist and egotistical), i've always admired
his chess. he never hesitates to sac pawns and exchanges
for the initiative.

I think Kasparov can legitimately be a little on the egotistical side, being as he is probably the greatest chess player in history.
