@litreacola He's by far one of the most killing guitarists on the scene today (and for like the last 40 years), swinging, melodic, creative, and downright hip. Not to mention having a very modern and unique harmonic concept. What more do you want? Seriously, if Abercrombie just isn't your taste, that's fine. But if he actually bores you, I doubt you have half a clue what he's doing musically.
Agreed on Abecrombie.. he is a dead serious player, great harmonic concept, also.. a great ear for form, what appears to be free is within the structure of the tune.
These no-namers are awful. MAN...did you hear how they controlled the lengthy crescendo over the course of the tune?!?! Brilliant! Everyone is so well-versed! Would pay big bucks to see this live.
The drummer is Peter Erskine. One of the greats! Some of my Esrkine favs are him playing with Maynard Ferguson, Weather Report, Steps Ahead to name but a few.
