I believed it at the time, there were things that did not sit with Scripture. Never once was I told I needed to be Born Again and accept Jesus as my personal saviour. It was keep The sabbeth, obey the 10Commandments be ready for 2000 etc. Since accepting Christ I know that GTA will just put me in bondage. I am Free!

REVPIPSTER: Paul wrote some scriptures that, by them selves are hard to understand. Paul kept the Ten Commandments and so do those that will have the right to the tree of life.

I haev often heard that Paul's teachings were hard to Understand. I think it was St Peter who said this too, but He said they were only hard for those who were untaught and unstable.(2Pet3:16) Paul exalted believers to holy living in the Freedom of God's Grace not bondage to The Law. We are not exalted to follow the Commandmants for Salvation or to gain extra favour with God, but out of love for what God has done for us, which is a very different spin on why Armstrong said we should keep them!

But the more I read The Bible and came to know God through his word I found more evidence for many truths which WWG now accept.

my point is that it isn't best to attack true ministers of God with harsh, condeming criticism becuse they are not passionate about some revelation that may be important but is not primary, or because they have a different theology on an issue. They do go through the tribulation. The Angels were commanded to hold back until they were marked. They just happened to be the ones who will survive because the flesh seed needs to be on earth of the new earth. The rest will remain in Heaven and be united with the 144,000 after they start the repopulation of the earth.

first of all, the law of moses is the sacrificial laws, they're done with now that Christ has been sacrificed. the law of god is the ten commandments. HWA taught me this:
1) Salvation is by faith--For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—(eph 2:8).
2) Shall we continue to sin? Rom 6:1-2 NO!
3) What is sin? I John 3:4
Therefore we are saved by faith (if God gives it to us), but we still need to obey the law.

I could never return to the Baptist church I was brought up in. Knowing God's laws concerning what is fit to eat and what is not, I could never go back to hog meat which I once loved.

Jimc1596, Thank you for your kind offer but I read Armstrongs teachings, I watched the World Tomorrow and read The Plain Truth. I also did the Ambassidor correspondance course. I believed it at the time, there were things that did not sit with Scripture. Never once was I told I needed to be Born Again and accept Jesus as my personal saviour. It was keep The sabbeth, obey the 10Commandments be ready for 2000 etc. Since accepting Christ I know that GTA will just put me in bondage. I am Free!

Jimc, God wants to write his Law on our hearts, so that he might read deep into the hearts of men. That is what he told me in 1991. Armstrong taught me to obayed God by following His Law outwardly, yet I found I was breaking the Law and feeling more guilt in the process. I was failing God every which way possible and not progressing. But on 4/2/93 I asked Jesus to be my personal Lord and Saviour, forgive me of my sins and never to leave me. Rev: You need both. You must be saved and born again in Christ. Thus saved the keeping of the commandments of God is the way you show God that you Love Him. God wants not hearers of the word but dooers of the word. So do not hide from the Law, as it is the Law of Love, and as you say Love is the key, it needs to be the Love of Jesus Christ, to do His will.

Regarding of what God wants from the Gentile believers in Acts 15, It is the observance of THE WHOLE LAW that the Pharisees want the Gentiles to follow not just to be circumcised. And that has Got to include ALL the sabbeth laws. If the Saturday Sabbeth was so important, why did not the Apostles make it as important as eating food offered to Idols?

REVPIPSTER: Paul wrote some scriptures that, by them selves are hard to understand. Paul kept the Ten Commandments and so do those that will have the right to the tree of life.
Just from a human standpoint one might ask, what is wrong with the Commandments? According to Paul, they are holy, just and good. Christ was asked what do I need to do to be saved. His reply was KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS

I haev often heard that Paul's teachings were hard to Understand. I think it was St Peter who said this too, but He said they were only hard for those who were untaught and unstable.(2Pet3:16) Paul exalted believers to holy living in the Freedom of God's Grace not bondage to The Law. We are not exalted to follow the Commandmants for Salvation or to gain extra favour with God, but out of love for what God has done for us, which is a very different spin on why Armstrong said we should keep them!

First you must ask under what context was the statement made, to whom and whay did that person ask it? Then answer this question? Seein that St Paul was such a Good Christian keeping the 10 commandments in order to earn the right to the tree of life, Why did he not say something different in Acts 16:31? And look at Acts 15 What Commands were the Gentiles told to Keep? For there were those who wanted them Circucised AND To Obey The Law of Moses (that includes The Sabbath Laws)But what happened?

The Jewish Christians were wanting the new Gentile (everybody else) converts to follow the Jewish custom of circumcision. James ruled [:19] that circumcision was not important. He went on to describe what those Gentile should be concerned about.

Yewt, check out Col 2:16 if the Sabbath's were so important to Christian Salvation, Why would St Paul (a former Orthodox Jew who observed the 7th day sabbeth so strongly before He encountered the Living Jesus Christ) write such a thing? James said It you break a par of the Law you have broken the Whole Law! so on the flip you must acknowledge if you keep a part of the Law you must keep THE WHOLE LAW and therefore Christ's sacrifice is of no effect for you!

Paul is writing to christians (Sabbath-keepers) and telling them not to worry if people like you are judging them because they are keeping the Sabbath. Try to understand this very simple point: christians are saved by grace, but they are not to continue sinning. How do they know what sin is? It is the transgression of the law. therefore, the law doesn't save you, but you still must not kill, commit adultery, break the sabbath...

that would be YOUR day of rest, that is, you would not be obeying God, you would be doing your own will. Genesis says that God blessed the 7th day and sanctified it (not any other day). Keeping the Sabbath is a sign of obedience to God. When the catholics instituted Sunday worship they were disregarding God's command and doing what they felt was right. Proverbs 14:12. The red light comment is very obvious and pertinent, how can you not see that?

You know, when I first started to read the Plain Truth magazine in the late 1980's and I took the Ambassador Bible course, I had not actually heard of Garner Ted. It was Herbert Armstrong who was the main Teacher who was being raised up. What he said agreed in many areas with what I had heard in New Age Circles, Watchtower literature, 7th Day Adventism et al. But the more I read The Bible and came to know God through his word I found more evidence for many truths which WWG now accept.

WCG didn't believe in trinity until the falling away (from the truth). You JW's aren't all that far away on a number of truths but you can't progress because you don't keep the Sabbath. Psalm 111:10:
"a good understanding have all they that do his commandments." The Sabbaths (7th day and festival sabbaths) reveal the plan of God. Revelations 12:17 and 14:12 show that the elect keep the commandments.

Apart from not being a JW, I was a reader of The Plain Truth magazine. How do you link This Falling away with what happened to the WWCG? That must also mean you Identify who the Man of Sin is? Who was it and does he match other descriptions of The Anti-Christ?
I followed what WWCG said " I was like a Berean in Acts 17. I searched the scriptures to find out if these things were true. I saw that they did not fall away but went back to the original teachings of Scripture e.g. God is a Trinity!

In Rev 7:4-8 It names each tribe and 'Juda' is just one of 12 tribes. (12x12,000 =144,000)
The first place you read of the Jews in the Bible they are at war with Israel. 2 Kings 16:5 "Remaliah king of Israel came to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz,**.." ** Ahaz was king of Judah, see :1.

Nonetheless, these are identified quite clearly as the decendants of Jacob in the Book of Revelation, for there is is a contrast later in the chapter of a Great Crowd (who are in Heaven) who are from every tribe, nation, people and language! Jew or Israelite........ these are just titles but both refer to the sons of Jacob, God's chosen people.

I'm sure you are arware that there are some groups like the Watch Tower who claim that Only the 144,000 go to heaven to be with the Lord, so the issue of who the 144,000 are could be important to one's salvation or the control a group has over it's followers. The Watch Tower says that these 144,000 are the mediators between man and God (not Jesus Christ) so if anyone claims something different from scripture then it should be tested. Someone's Salvation could depend on issues around it!

They however do not claiom that the 144,000 are mdeiators (they know Jesus is the only mediator) and they don't say only the 144,000 will be saved. They believe the other believers would spend eternity in a paradise on earth while the 144,000 will rule from heaven. But that's besides the point

my point is that it isn't best to attack true ministers of God with harsh, condeming criticism becuse they are not passionate about some revelation that may be important but is not primary, or because they have a different theology on an issue. Everyone has his own calling & focus. Also ministers aren't all knowing. Not all their theologies are necessarily flawless, & that includes you. I'm not saying you should keep quite. Correct errors but with understanding instead of saying "false prophet!"

The Bible does tell us to test all things and hold on to what is good. I never said that This man was a 'False Prophet' that he claimed to identify a group of people but did not actually go on to identify them fully from the Bible. Now I know who Garner Ted was, I understand why. It was through descerning what he said that checked my spirit. You can't argue with Scripture but you can take it out of context and twist it to fit ones theology. When that happens, one must ask why?

Ommission of factual information is just as wrong as when it comes to denying scriptural truths. Rev 7 identifies who the 144,000 are, and one should start with that. That's where Armstrongism failed. As a former Ambassador student I know! If scripture says something, you should acknowledge it and ask the question Why would God want to have it mentioned? what was God saying? Not brush it off! WWCG often ignored text (eg Year 2000 for example) if you ommit text to promote a doctrine, it's false!

These "holy" scriptures are written in the reflection of higher powers, reflection of their truth. Not the absolute truth, they tried to kill the absolute truth. OR have you forgotten the dark ages? You can google it or find it in a libary.
They only let you see what they want you to believe, never beyond. Don't you find it remarkeble that the Vatican still has an enormous political power?

What you hear from Mr. Armstrong came from the Holy Scriptures and that is the Word of God as I believe.
If you can support your claims from those scriptures then I am willing to listen otherwise I'm going to erase your comments.

The reason you will not give any specific response is because you can't unless you use the words of Paul. Google "The Bible On Trial" (not God on trial by the way) and you will have a place to debate these important questions.

The word "Antichrist" at the being was a carry over from the program on the Antichrist and to remove it would destroy all of the comments, etc.
