This was made at Jungle Training Centre located at Canungra - Queensland. I was stationed at JTC at the time of the filming, got to meet a few of the actors. During the Vietnam conflict every Aussie Soldier done training at JWC before being shipped of to Vietnam. Ex-Aussie Digger (LEST WE FORGET)
I remember once in Germany we had this cook who burned the beef stew on the bottom. Apparently a cure for this is to add a little peanut butter to the stew. Well he added so much that we had peanut butter stew that night! Also on the menu for that month on Fallex, was his Sgt's grilled cheese. Every day. Vern and Ray were their names.
They don't make like this anymore.

The music and this compilation make the movie look like it is a comedy. Hardly.

First saw it in '82 when it was screened on BBC-2.Just about the best war film I've ever seen.
BTW ,who sang the film's closing song 'Who cares anyway' and could someone please upload it? Thanks

that is the gayest music i have ever heard for a war movie, good movie though, it would be cool if they made a remake

I first saw this movie in '85 n' remember thinking Graham had quite a gut on him for an Infantryman,,,BUT it was a dayumed fine movie!!!

@WA4RRN
Not only an Infantryman, but SAS. Just goes to show you combat is not all about how many push - ups you can do!
dragoon43A 2 years ago
dragoon43A...I don't remember them being SAS. I was a lowly Grunt 40 years ago in Nam...none of us had such a gut after a few months in the bush.

I can see your point about guts; I lost about 20 pounds in Afghanistan.
