  • my chihuahua is almost 4 and i recently tried to teach her this trick. to my surprised my dog apparently already knew this trick somehow. >.> (im the only one who trains her in my house so who knows)

  • my dog learned it in like 5mins. Thanks for the videos

  • your face makes it look like youre using a fish-eye lens

  • it work out.. thx for the video :)

  • MY DOG TOOK FOREVER and then im all like tyler if u dont leave it alone ill take away ur chew toy i blink hes gone!

  • you have an amazing dog

  • Should I stop the training session until my dog understands this command or stop whenever I think to stop?

  • yo, i donate my dog to you to train it for one video. :)

  • my greatdane puppy is about 3 months old and she densest know where to pee/potty. I even too her out out in the moning and evening for potty and pee but she didnt do.. i live in a apartment so i have prolem for the potty.. can you please teach me the pottpy tramming .. thanks in advance :)

  • My 3 months old GRis different. If he can't get to his treat he walked away and lay down. Then when I tried calling him back he ignore me no matter how good the treat was. :( What can I do about this behaviour of his?

  • @SexySheerah Does he like toys? Some dogs prefer toys. If your dog is only toy motivated you can make the clicker be a sign for "I'll throw a ball". But usually it is easier with food.

On the other hand, if you go get him and offer the treat, will he take it or will he refuse it?

  • What treats can i use that they are going to like and that is not too bad for them?

  • whenever you ask them to do a trick like heel will they think your gonna give them treats always?

  • @mistaboing When you give them treats, give them lots of verbal praise and petting as well. The treats make the verbal praise and petting more valuable. You lessen the amount of treats and replace with verbal praise and petting. They will no longer do it only for the treats: instead, they will be perfectly happy with the praise and petting.

  • Thanks this will help heaps

  • how long should this take until he gets the idea?

  • how many dogs do u have

  • @HisButtercup79 petsmart usually have them I bought one there for a dollar

  • What kind of treats do you use and can you get a treat holder at any petco or petsmart?

  • @Silverulquiorra mmm just go to that place where the clickers are or ask someone that works in there sorry if i was not the one you wanted to answer but just wanted to help

  • Thanks! This added tremendous value. You have my subscription

  • Comment removed

  • Where do you get one of those clickers?

  • @nakulchande even the cheapest clickers on amazon are totally ok... and they are so cheap you may as well order 2 just in case

  • awesome! thanks :D

  • what kind of pet treats do you use? I am having a hard time finding small treats that are good for training. So I end up having to buy treats that are too big and break them into a bunch of smaller pieces myself which is a little time consuming and takes away from training. Thanks, I really enjoy your videos!

  • At what point should one stop rewarding the dog for this behaviour? As the goal is to teach him to 'leave it', he should be able to do it without any reward eventually.

    Great videos btw ;)

  • Shyt tooo close on the camera foo

  • Can you make a video showing what to do the first day you get a pup like commands and stuff ??

  • thank you so much! she learnt it but if i leave food on the table and tell her to leave it, she will still jump and eat it. she will only leave it if it's a non-food item LOL

  • ok... this is what i was talking about in another video of urs... "how to teach any dog a perfect STAY" video... i think it was part 2 actually... but anyway at @2:06 right about the time u start saying that the dog will try to really get the treat out of your hand that's the trick i tried from "It's Me or the Dog" and my Puggle (Beagle/Pug mix) decided to go crazy on my hand and got me with her teeth around my fist. I gave up after that because I didn't want to get hurt. Idk what I'm doing! lol

  • my rottie LOVES the kitty litter pan and the garbage:( she is 7 yrs old

  • this is the best Channel i've found on youtube yet, U r helping me with my dog so much.

    From Chile Thank you.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Aww... I bet he feels like a furry teddy bear! :) ^_^ I want him!

  • even though your video is very helpful with me and my dog in training sessions when my mom drops a piece of chicken on the floor or something even if i say leave it she will still go for it but she does great in her training sessions

  • that was go now can u make a vide to help people to get there dog back after it ran out the door

  • 1:15 to 1:20 is that a mop...lol

  • PT2 what do i do when i get him 2 drop it & give him a treat then go 2 pick up what i made him drop & he bites me? not a nibble but bite hard enough 2 break skin & make me bleed? idk what im doing wrong but i cant get him 2 understand the concept of no bite. i have a 10 month old son i cant risk sylas biting him the way he does me. PLZ PLZ PLZ HELP ME!!! i dont want 2 have 2 get rid of him cuz i cant trust him around my son. he WONT listen 2 me unless i have treats in front of him. WHAT DO I DO?

  • ok i have a question. my puppy sylas is 6 months old and the training process is taking so much longer than im used to. he is a lab pitt mix. i taught him the drop it command but he WILL NOT listen to it unless i show him a treat first. i tried giving him a toy& praising him instead of treating every time but he looks @ me like i have 10 heads & continues 2 chew on it. now if i was only doing this for a day or so i could understand but ive been doing it for almost 2 weeks about 4-5 times a day.

  • what treats do u use?? they look tastyy from the dog's prespective [not mine haha]

  • Where do you buy an clicker or how do you made it

  • @TheLauraster You can get them at any most pet stores for cheap (usually less than 5 bucks)

  • @BradliusMaximus Well i've buyed one but got a question how can i train it with Chihuahua's almost 2 years old? Sorry if i fail sometime's with my english because i'm dutch :)

  • @TheLauraster You start by first teaching your dog that the clicker sound = good. you do that by clicking and then giving the dog a treat immediately after and you do this until the dog has figured out that the click = treat. Then you can move on to teaching tricks or commands. If you're really concerned you can use the clicker to retrain your dog a command it already knows, such as sit. If you watch all of tab's videos you'll get the idea. Start with "how to motivate your dog to listen"

  • do u teach it all in one day? wat if the puppy gets bored and walks away?

  • @rohiniyourohinitube That depends on your dog. Simple tricks you can probably do in a day, but try to keep the session within your dog's attention span. So if you find a training session of say 20 minutes is too long for your dog, try breaking it up into 2 smaller sessions a few hours apart. Just remember not to ask/expect too much too soon or the dog will get frustrated. If you've selected a reward with enough value; your dog shouldn't run away.

  • Yes a Siberian husky are very smart dogs and trainable if it lives with a family it will only listen to 1 family member as he will consider it's master!

  • I AM FED UP MY DOG IS ACTUALLY STUPIDDDD

  • And When Should I Start Training When I Bought It Home?

  • @Chicochi2001 That's the best part about clickers, you can start with them at any time. Dogs of all ages like treats (doesn't have to be food) and that's the only requirement for clicker training. They're very cheap to buy too so get one and give it a try, just remember to be consistent and click exactly when the dog does what it is you want it to do. And try to keep the session fun. Tab suggested in 1 of his videos to mix the treat types to keep the dog wondering. That's fun to a dog.

  • I Mean Siberian Husky puppy

  • Is Siberian Really Intelligent

    Pls Answer:-X

  • German shepherds are NOT dangerous. They need to be shown love and trained and if you respect the dog they will respect you. They may only be dangerous if something from the past ie. Abuse has been brought to memory and they feel threatened

  • your a great instructor some people say that the German Shepard is a very dangerous dog is this true ?

  • @benjodod10 no there good dogs if you train it

  • @benjodod10 Depends on what you mean. Yes a GSD can kill/maim a person pretty easily. BUT (and it's a big but) A GSD doesn't come people unsafe "out of the box." Bad people behavior creates a bad dog, not genetics. The military and police would not use them as a breed if they were untrustworthy (what you really mean by a dangerous dog).

  • wat happened to your german shepard?

  • @ultimatesquirllboy He mentioned at the beginning of the video that he wasn't using Solea to illustrate that clicker training isn't uniquely working for HIS dog, but will work for any dog.

  • My dog will do this fine, (she already kind of knew leave it) but when we are out walking or when i am telling her to leave her toys alone, she wont do it unless she knows i have treats. Is there a way to do this without food, but some other kind of reward? (unrestrained affection doesnt work. XD)

  • your a great trainer

  • When I hold the treat in my hand, my dog doesn't just sniff and lick... She bites :/ How do I stop her from doing that? What should I do when she bites me? I watched your video on how to stop biting but it's not really working.. I tried the "OUCH" method and it doesn't work. Going away from my dog for a minute works fine.. but still what should I do at the exact moment she bites me? Should I move my hand away? I tried to hold it there but she just keeps biting and it's painful :/

  • this is a smart dog

  • I was taught NOT to give the treat you are using for the "leave it command" because than pooch thinks he will eventually get what he is leaving. I use two different types of treats. Jerky and chicken breast. Put one on floor or in hand and give the other as reward. Works very very effectively!!

  • Just did this with my husky mix. WOW! Thank you! I even got him to avoid chasing a ball with this too! (though the ball was just rolling slowly)

  • i noticed this isn't the usual dog you use for your videos, is this an old dog of yours or a friends dog or something?

  • I taught leave it thanks to this video, it was easy. My dog learned leave it in less hen 5 mins lol

  • You are a good teacher. You should have your own show and not Cesar Millan... He just kicks the dogs. :(

  • finallyy!!! my dog learnd leave it!!! i was frustrated with it for ages. thanks alot !!! u r great!!

  • i've noticed he trained the smartest dogs in his videos lol! poodle, german shepherd one of the smartest dogs!

  • loved this one!

  • Few people know what they are doing when it comes to dog training but you are on top of the game. Thank you for sharing your methods with us. Your videos are awesome.

  • How do I get my puppy to pick up the treats after they leave it ?? I have to give it by hand PWEASE HELP and if someone else tries to put the treat on the ground and I say leave it my puppy doesnt listen :(??

  • But how do I get them to get the treat themselves after they leave it

  • Good video, keep up the good work

  • youve help me so much. im getting a german puppy soon and im trying to learn as much as i can. thanks for the great tips :)

  • This was so helpful! Normally I would tell my dog to 'stay' and leave a treat before letting her have it which worked ok, but seperating 'stay' from 'leave it' has help so much, now she drops things on command too. I'm hoping this will help with her anxiety when we go walking, she always picks the wrong dogs (or cats) to try and play with so hopefully I can stop her doing that too! Well in a matter of time ha ha ha.

  • You are sooo wonderful. I followed your advice and my doggy caught on in not even 10 minutes! I can't thank you enough.

  • you make the best dog training vids. everything my pit bull puppies know comes from you.

  • Thanks for these vids- I have a very sweet 8 week old German Shepherd and this worked immediately with her.

  • When can i start sayin leave it without the treats? Or do i have to carry treats everywhere my puppy goes? My dog bites everyones clothes will 'leave it' work for getting him to back off? he scratched holes into my nieces shirt. I keep him outside so i think he needs his claws to dig, & i dont wanna declaw him. Is there a way to train them to not claw clothes & people? He's 11 weeks.

  • i have a lil pup german sheperd full bred and hes 7 weeks old and when i wanna go inside he freaks out and starts to shove himself through the door what should i do?

  • I love your videos, I'm training my dog as you do, but your patience and dog is not like mine at all. but he follows the basics, is 8 month old GSmix and has a lot of personality, get easy distracted and plays a lot. Thank you so much, best wishes

  • my dog trainer said to put your dog on a leash and throw a treat on the ground and say leave it and use another treat to lure her attention towards me. so thats just another way. because 'leave it' and very similar to 'off' in my opinion.

  • What kinmd of trat are you giving the dog?

  • awww good dog :) yay im glad i found this site !!

  • Thank you so much for all your videos, you're helping me to teach my dog so so much stuff! You're brilliant at this.

  • Do you know when you say to give treats to the dog ? At the begginning ? I thought the dog learns that eating treats from the carpet is good xD hahahah I know is a stupid question but I was just wondering

  • What kind of dog is Charlie? He seems pretty to be a pretty quick learner!

  • @IamtheGrynch Charlie is a labrador/poodle mix. The beauty of positive reinforcement is just that it makes learning easy for dogs of all breeds

  • @tab289 Your vids are insane i love your dog.

Could you give me advice regarding whether to choose a male or female German shepherd. Thnx a lot.

  • @IamtheGrynch puši kurac

  • nice thanks for the tip

  • This is amazing, your teaching us ALOT! Just have one question, what if your dog sees something that he wants to take, for example a toy in your house, and you dont have any treats to give him, will he be able to "leave it" without demanding a reward? On your video the dog always gets the treat at last, but what if he cant? - From your norweigan dog-friend :D

  • @sverre123456 It depends. Sometimes the best solution is to remove the item you don't want your dog to get at altogether. However, food is not necessary as a reward once the dog has fully learned the cue. This however, takes practice and proofing.

  • @tab289 hey, this is great Joker did it no prob!!, but i have one problem, here people leave chicken bones on the street for stray dogs, and Joker doesnt support chicken bones (he gets sick)... and i don't know about here coz we just moved 4 weeks ago, but ppl throw things over the fence, we never know, it could be poison... so how can i theach my dog not pick-up anythig from the ground un-less it's okay? and not to go threw the trash.... plz reply his is very important t me and both my dogs...

  • i have a 10 week old pup and i have tried this she got it in about 5 mins i am working through your vides each day i think they are really easy to follow thankyou

  • My bull terrier is deaf, without the clicker and voice commands how can i best follow this way of training? She does know some asl signs, sit, down, stay, no, good girl.

  • I need help! When I tell my dog to 'leave it' with the treat in my hand/on the floor, she simply sits down/lies down. After she sat or laid down I would click and treat. Gradually I only clicked and treated whenever she turned or looked away. After several repetitions, I placed a treat on the floor and told her to leave it, but she still went for it anyway. Any suggestions? Really need her to learn this because she just loves picking rubbish from the trashcan.

  • great stuff. you are the only person i've ever subscribed to. first is the buff guy who does the weight training videos... uh... what's his name again? something herman... and you! look forward to more videos from you!!

  • Do i need to use a clicker or can my puppy do it without a clicker??

  • @xruneboyx You don't need a clicker, so long as you use a consistent enough word to replace it.

  • @tab289 sir i want to know that, how to teach a puppy to doing poti nd urine at a particular place??????//

  • @tab289 could I click my fingers, instead of the clicker?

  • @ThatsMrFrank I wouldn't suggest it. The clicking sound you make with fingers isn't always consistent and clicker training requires the "marker" to be 100% consistent. If you're really adverse to buying a clicker (not sure why you would be seeing as they're less than 10 bucks) then use a marker word instead. Just remember to have a consistent voice tone when you say it.

  • my 12 week puppy does everything thing right but when it comes to taking my hand off the treat he can't seem to get it right. When i take my hand off and say "leave it" he just eats the treats. Any advice?

  • Great videos! I am definitely going to use your videos as a resource when I start training my puppy. We plan to get a German Shorthaired Pointer. I know they are an energetic breed, but with proper exercise and training do they make good family dogs?

  • @BPFnSC Yes, they do!

  • What kind of treats would you recommend for a 14 week old "Old English Sheepdog" - Can I just break up cookies or are there tiny treats you could suggest?

  • Should you restart the techniques from the beginning stage every new training session/day?

  • @shadyonedeath Only if the dog seems to be struggling with the exercise. Usually we have to do that when we increase the difficulty significantly. Once the dog knows it well, it won't be necessary.

  • @shadyonedeath What kind of treats would you recommend for a 14 week old "Old English Sheepdog" - Can I just break up cookies or are there tiny treats you could suggest?

  • Your videos are very good. I am planning to get a boxer.

Do you know something about this breed as a family dog?

  • @teooli They make excellent family dogs given the appropriate amount of training and exercise. I have met some incredibly well mannered boxers that were a part of families with many small children.

  • I agree 100% with how important this is. My dog and I have hit a snag. I want to teach him to leave food in people's hands, not just on the floor. He is VERY driven, and I always get a nose touch before he backs off. I've tried a few different tricks, and still haven't figured out how to shape him to back off on cue rather than touch-then-backoff. The touch is a big problem if it's something dangerous, or an ice cream cone!

  • Another great video. Keep up the good work!

  • Oh you do have a leave video :D. That was greatness lol. Thanks a lot im trying this tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a success :D.

  • thanks for you quick response to my question. i get it now.

i would love to see a how to video for a long distance drop

  • This is my next command for Eli! Thanks for another fab tutorial!

  • good job, i was wondering why you reward the dog with the thing he is suposed to leave. i always thought they shouldnt get that item?

  • @murwill1 They shouldn't choose to get it by themselves, but it's okay so long as it's coming through the handler, as a reward for understanding and choosing to leave it first. We want to condition the dog to understand that if they want something they have to ask for permission from the handler without deciding by themselves to go after it. Limited by characters here - so message me for a more detailed explanation.

  • good job! i liked how you used an untrained dog to show how to train us :-) your german shepard is soooo cool!!

  • awesome video! It's so helpful when you show how you work with a dog that isnt already well trained.

  • awesome as always:D

  • Thanks! I've been wanting to teach my dog to leave it. I'm sure going to try this!

  • @mim46 Great! Let me know how it goes

  • @tab289 Wow...I'm surprised...a few sessions yesterday and she leaves it already. Thank you very much Tab!

  • Another great and helpful video! I'm very glad I subscribed. I echo the other commenters who pointed out that what makes this vid great is that you show your techniques on a dog you've never trained before. Awesome!

  • Excellent video!:)

  • Another great video Tab !!

I really liked when you tought a dog tha never worked on leave it. Luv you videos and 5* for the patient dog

  • Excellent video once again! I just love how clear you are with your explanations. My 9 week old puppy, Morgen, is picking up this command pretty well. He just needs to look at me more rather than be fixated on my hand. I guess it's because he knows which pocket I keep the treats in and he just watches the hand/pocket.

  • @snafued82 Puppies tend to learn to do that quite fast... Would love to see him!

  • You're such an amazing, gifted instructor.

Two thumbs up for your great video. Please, keep up posting your educational videos

  • He sure was a fast study. . . nice work!

  • Great video! I liked that you showed a dog that had never worked on a "leave it" before...he was cute too!

  • @BBTricksters Thanks! It was a lot of fun to work with him
