We did get two new dogs. Unfortunately Ken never got the chance to walk with them in the woods. Ken passed away on March 21, 2009. When I take them to the woods I will remember my dear and loving husband and our beloved dog Buddy. Thanks, Ken's wife Laura.
Buddy died on Dec. 21, 2006. He went to three of his favorite parks, a long ride in the country, a belly full of popcorn and his ball in his mouth. He was a happy dog.
I SO know how this feels. Our cat was put to sleep this year due to cancer. Fortunately, she was 13 and lived a relatively long life and was a much loved girl. Here's hoping that Lucy (our daughter the Pit Bull) dies of old age at 20.
One of our dogs got sick with stomach cancer and I had to have her put down a little over a year ago. She was so sick and I knew it was the best thing for her, but it was still one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I hope things turn out better for Buddy.
Ken, what can I say. I really know what it's like to love a pet. We have had two dogs - two lovely cocker spaniels - and have twice had to make that awfull descision when thier time is near. I pray that Buddie lives on for a few more years yet, so that you can enjoy your lives together. Lovely video, you put them together so nicely - Frank
Thank you for your thoughts. He came through the surgery, but lost another tooth (his second). Hopefully he'll feel better in a couple days and we can go back to the woods.
The music is Heart of the Heartland by Peter Ostroushko. I was playing this while Buddy had his head out of the van yesterday and it just seemed right.
Sorry to hear about Buddy. Animals, and especially dogs, are so much apart of our lives that when we lose one, it's like losing a family member. I hope he pulls through.
Ken this was incredibly well shot and put together.
The hearth was amazing. I could almost feel the history, watching you stand on those grass covered stones. I love stuff like that. Bless you for adopting a shelter dog. You've given Buddy the best years of his life- of that I have no doubt. I'm so sorry he's sick and might have to leave before you are ready to let him go. I was incredibly touched by your story.
Thank you Sadie. Your videos inspire me. I love that hearth. Thinking about whoever sat around that fire. To me, it seems like paradise. Thank you for your kind words about Buddy. He's in surgery right now. I'll let you all know how he's doing.
Ken, I'm sorry you are feeling sad. Our little Pixel passed on about 6 months ago. We had a good 15 years with her and loved her so much. One thing about being with a pet when they are sick is that you appreciate them even more. Take care my friend!
Thank you Gene. I'm sorry to hear about Pixel. Yesterday, throwing the stick in the water, I was wondering if this would be the last time he would swim. Thank you for your kind thoughts.
Ken - so sorry to hear about Buddy. growing up on a farm i suppose i have a little different perspective on the lives and deaths of animals (i know it hardened me, perhaps too much) but i think it is admirable that your taking such good care of him.
this is so sad. my sympathies for both ken and buddy. it was a well put together video i know you'll cherish forever.

I'm sorry to hear about Lovey. It's warm here today, so I took the afternoon off work to take him to the woods. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Mary,
I see how you are with your dogs and I know you understand what I'm going through. Thank you for your kind words.

Very touching video. For caring pet owners, the animals are truly a part of the family. It is hard to say goodbye.

I choose to work and live a mile from home so I can throw the ball and let him out at lunch. It will be a big loss when he's not there to greet me.

Now you can see Buddy when you are at work.

Yep. That's why I did this.

I think the saddest thing about losing a pet is because that pet was probably the only living creature that gives you unconditional love.

He is always happy to see me. I don't even get that from Laura!
