I was in this part of Scotland in 1994, doing a job in Lanark, and Rigside was mostly wrecked. The council estate seemed to be largely boarded up and lifeless and the place looked stricken. I would hope for better things for the village as it is in a nice area.
Hazel Jackson here. Parents Bob and Martha Jackson, I last visited in 1979 (Peg Jamieson) and I believe mom wants to be buried next to her mom & dad, Isabella Jean Davidson (died 1972)& John Davidson (died 1954) ,wherever they may be.

I used to live in Douglas from mid 60's to19 74. when I joined the army. I knew a Roy Bartie from Rigside and we went to Lanark Grammer school. I also know a certain Ian Ramage ( also known as Ramo) who also served in the same regiment. We have met at the last two reunions on the Remberance weekends in London.
pity you didnae have a picture of geordie bartie noo. i love his kilt and white socks.wait till ah see him. it brought back great memories of growin up an spendin most weekends at my granny clarks
