  • The older the pennies the more copper .. more copper more heat pull... I think 1975 and older has more copper content.

  • penny fix doesnt work

  • if its just copper that fixes it, why not use a heatsink from a regular computer?

  • @gunblade1499 because copper is less heat conductive then the custom built aluminum heat sinks built specifically for the xbox 360's chipset. doing so would only damage your console to the point where only a bga welder could repair what you have done. just like this so called penny "fix"

  • @miasmablk xbox=computer heatsinks are good for computers to dissipate heat. especially copper. My systems were all legit so I never had to worry about such a petty bug. last time I checked Copper>aluminum in computers when it came to cooling

  • how much did it took u

  • I peed in a horse once.

  • this didnt work for me

  • this puts lots of stress and pressure on the solder joints on the processor, will lead to more problems later on

  • @blakjakd Ahh,i got n older model from my best friend and she said it broke due to over heating, and then she took it to get fixed and sent it to me cause she got a new one already, and it worked fine for me until after like 2 weeks of use.The very first day we heard a clanking inside it,and i just discovered it was a penny and thought it was a mistake the idiots who "fixed it" did,but now i see its this.So the problem is it freezes after like 5 minutes of use now no matter what.Think this is why?

  • @princeofhalcyon yes it could (and probably is) because of that. If the penny was actually loose in the case, it could have shorted something out also

  • @blakjakd Ah okay, thank you.It definitely was loose as it was rolling around since we got it.Guess my friend got pretty screwed on the "repair"

  • The main problem with the RROD is a heating issue across the motherboard and chipsets. Copper absorbs high amounts of heat (245 Joules of heat per gram). Pennies however only have 2.5% copper in them (0.0625 gm of copper) and the rest is Zinc. It could fix a system permanently, but it all depends on the owner. What people don't consider is all the other factors that play into it, such as room temp, where their system is located, air flow, how many hours they use it daily/weekly, ect.

  • How do the pennys fix the rrod?

  • The music sucks balls n the guide doesn't work simple as that u have better luck with the qtip trick

  • This guide will and I am not kidding remove all possibility of a lasting repair without a total re-ball of both GPU and CPU chips because this will cause 60 times more damage to your Xbox than you had before you started this bull shit towel trick the pennies serve absolutely no purpose it will also likely fry your chips and kill your Xbox flat out at best you will get a week or two before permanent death! Learn the truth on my channel

  • @HGCGamersClub You sir are retarded in no way will it "fry the chips" and the pennies do have a purpose dumb@ss they absorb the heat instead of using a compound. My Xbox has run for a month after this without a problem.

  • @SirSnuffy Well you are one of the lucky ones! It will not last long the pennies are a joke and so is this repair! It will remove all possibility of a lasting repair with proper equipment. I show everyone 100% proof of my very extensive background in electronic if you wish to believe this moron? Fine, but remember when you are throwing your Xbox in the trash. (I tried to warned you).

  • It worked for me, like this works on 1 from mine verywell like play2 hours without freezing on another one it crashes every 30 minute and on another its like not working..

  • i am trying it later

  • @ladylydon i wouldnt

  • does it work? and how long

  • I have two things:

    1. Simple? I don't think that taking my Xbox apart into 15 pieces is simple

    2. Why does the song keep saying "I gotta bad feeling about this"? That doesn't make sense for this video lol

  • @mathewjmusic

The purpose of those pennies is not to provide heat sink. It's to press up against those ram chips. As the board heats up, the chips run the risk of loosening up. The pennies will keep pressure against those chips and keep them in place.

You have to be careful not to put too much pressure on those chips, though. That would run the risk of warping the motherboard, damaging it further.

  • This is why i own a PS3.

  • @acarlbom

But think about all those DIY projects that you're missing out on!

  • @Einargizz Remind the guy of the RLOD and the YLOD, by the way... As much as I support the PS3, he can't assume it's the flawless console of this generation.

  • @JackBandicootsBunker

I know about the YLOD but I've long since given up on arguing with console fanboys. You have more luck trying to break down a brick wall with your head.

    Less painful too.

  • @acarlbom lol why are you even watching this video then??

  • @acarlbom The PSN Network down again!! This is why I own an Xbox 360.

  • I have the one ring e74 error. I followed your video and did everything correctly, it's just when I try to turn my Xbox on three rings come up and its not even working the fans aren't even kicking on, I put the thermal heat pads back in to see what it would do and it turned on and went back to the one ring e 74 problem, any advice that can help me?

  • when i do the penny fix trick i get 4 red rings and then it get overheated and go 2 red lights does any have fix for this

  • @ZombieKiller786 DUDE! 4 rings means your AV isn't plugged in and 2 rings means you overheated it!

  • @SAMCAMJAIK1 but how can i fix overheated my does not have any dust in it

  • @ZombieKiller786 Replace the thermal paste:D

  • @ZombieKiller786 do not use bolts or screws. take the pennys out its the wrong thing to do. take the heatsinks off and take old thermal paste out and put new paste on. put xclamps back on and your good to go. for more info visit hgcgamersclub on youtube. they got the best method

  • Great song choice!

  • If you have time to pull apart the whole thing why not just spend the 2 bucks on Arctic Silver to actually FIX it?

  • @JkennethD mine did that a few times during lightning storms and it was just a power supply malfuction. Now I have the real rrod.

  • what id miny xbox didnt had the lil pads ? !! someone pleasee answear !!:''(

  • It's probably a bad idea to put objects inside of the machine.

  • mine did the 3 rings but i just unplugged it and restarted it and it was fine. can anyone explain why it works fine now to me?

  • @JkennethD RROD, or the three rings of death is because the xbox360 motherboard heats up and the actual chips (cpu/gpu) get loose causing the error. This happens because the X-clamps that hold the heatsinks are cheap junk that don't provide enough pressure on the chips (they get loose with time and usage). The penny trick does not fix the root cause of the RROD and as such is not a permanent fix, but a quick fix that may work some of the time. A better fix is to replace the X-Clamps.

  • okbut how is that working im trying to fix mine 4 my dads b day hes bought about 10 with warrenty but we hog them so i was taking it apart and his bday is on the 27 so it had red ring so i took it apart and im still working on it

  • my xbox had no pads

  • finally! something to use all my pennies for!

  • sucks you have to waste 12 cents though!

  • actually worked

  • what type of tape?

  • @BARBARICDRAGON Electrical tape. It does not conduct electricity and can be found in just about any hardware store. Comes in a variety of colors but the black would help you see better to make sure no metal shows on the penny. A penny is made of a zinc wafer electro coated in copper. Copper, as is well known, is highly conductive even in small amounts and zinc is as well. If a part of the penny were to show while electricity is running to the motherboard you could short the board and byebye xbox

  • if i do this can i still use xbox leave cause reseach said i cant

  • This is a gay way to break your Xbox.

  • @enigmaticbee

Chances are if your doing this, your Xbox is already broken.

  • What if you don't have the little pads in your xbox?

  • Give it a couple weeks at most, you'll be back @ square one.

  • what are the little pads that are used?

  • Comment removed

  • this works (; ayy thanks for the vid bro. it helps fareals thoe

  • "i've got a bad feeling, about this.. I've got a bad feeling, about this" lol why did you pick such an encouraging song?

  • caN YOU USE OTHER COINS ?

  • Is there a way of fixing the xbox with hdmi port?

  • attempting the penny fix :D

  • haha every time my old xbox would get the red ring of death i would just turn it off and then take the hard drive out and then put it back in and it worked fine.

  • this is complete bullshit ive repaired over 10 xbox 360's and none of them had to use this method use the Arctic silver 5 thermal paste way it works the best trust me im a professional

  • @oshhi0 ur professinal so im asking. i already attempted the x-clamp fix it worked then i get rrod again. so this is the best method to use? also those sticky stuff on the chips what are they called??

  • @IProKaZ thermal paste -- it is a conductor that allows heat to transfer from the chip to a heat sink

  • @IProKaZ the grey stuff is called thermal glue or paste .to fix you xbox premaritally remove the old thermal paste and put some new paste on .the stuff you wanna use is Arctic silver 5 thermal paste it wrks for all sorts of stuff such as xbox's and computers .

  • what is your adrss so i can kill you because your a lie

my grandma can fix an xbox better than you i got all 4 red rings cuz of you

  • @ravenger5

fail. 4 red lights is a loose av cable. this has nothing to do with what he showed you.

  • @2tall2do69 the reason it showed 4 lights was because he turned it on without the av cable in but he still had the 3 red light problem

  • @ravenger5 dumbass

  • I just wanna say thank you, my xbox now works(didnt have to do the towel trick) so yea, more love n respect to u guys. Jah bless

  • workin

  • yesssss

  • I tried the penny fix. Xbox worked for a couple hours and now the fan shuts off immediately after i turn it on. Also i cant open the drive any more n i have a disc inside. Is the xbox done with or is it still possible to fix? Ive already done the xclamp fix as well. Pls help

  • Also Penny + Insulation Tape = zero transfer of heat and will result in these ICs to over heat.

  • People be aware that this person's video, doing this will cause harm to your PCB. What he is doing is putting stress on the board in places causing it to warp that will for a short time will be compressing the BGA point/s that are failing to make contact create a contact as they will be compressed agains each other due to the warping of the PCB, the points that are ok are now under stress to detach and they will detach with the pads that will result in a none repairable XBOX 360

  • I saw in a dif vid tht u just take the pink cusion things our and dont put them back on just the pennies. also tht ur supposed to do the towel trick right after. should i do it like tht or like this

  • I've got a bad feeling about this!

  • Ok so I tried the penny trick today and it actually worked. Didn't think it would but shit. This made my day

  • is that Taking Back Sunday?

  • @Avlogs Yeah. great song isn't it?

  • You can also do the x-clamp fix. Buy the kit from redringxbox.co.uk if it doesn't work you get your money back!

  • this is bullshit does not work!!!! broke my xbox!!!

  • my error code is 0001 ( 4 lights-> 4 lights-> 4 lights-> 1 light)

  • @b1iinx I imagine your PSU is showing a Red light when on? This indicates a short circuit or power fault inside the console. First thing to do is strip it all down and make sure nothing is shorting the main power in terminals, that's what happened with one of mine!

  • @b1iinx thats 4441 not 0001

  • this is an awful tutorial. Sirbamalot has one that is much better.

  • @OrdinaryBard1 you have "awful" spelling

  • @YwBx "Awful" is the right spelling, dumbass.

  • you are a fucking genius.... you just saved me $120 dollars... thanks bro.... it worked perfectly...

  • Wow, pretty moronic. All I had to do was pee on mine and the error went away.

  • i see money makes it work.... maybe.... maybe if i shove a hundred dollar bill in the disk tray i won't have any more problems.

  • ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Warranty Voided

  • @SamFullerStudios well with most people this occurs after warranty

  • @SamFullerStudios ACHEIVMENT UNLOCKED: New Sexier Home Warranty Unlocked

  • @SamFullerStudios if your warranty was valid, why wouldn't you just get it fixed for free?

  • @TheTolson411 Don'tcha think this is directed towards people without a valid warranty?

  • don't do it like he said ... if you leave the 8 screws off the heatsinks for your CPU AND GPU will be loose and won't work properly

  • good job

  • My Jtag had 0102 until i did this, It's funny how 8 pennies could have fixed it.

  • nice tv

  • chuck norris can do this faster!

  • necesito tu ayuda no se hablar ingles pero intenta responderme por favor

mi xbox tienes el error e74 si hago eso funcionara y se arreglare

  • Her is what you you call a cowboy. Taking heat conductive pads off and replacing with heat non-conductive DIY pads that will cause the IC on the board to heat up and no way to be cooled down, also warping the board and may just for a short time only get a contact on the failing BGA point to give the false impression that you have fix the XBOX 360, you are in fact causing more damage and when it fails that is the permanent damge that you have caused.

  • @goInsoft what would you suggest?

  • Microsoft à victum of its own sucess

  • i did not know 8 pennies could do this much like so people see

  • i got a bad feeling about this how great

  • I'm so sick of this BS. I have an Xbox 360 and now a master technician because I have done everything from modding DVD drives to removing heat sinks on the GPU and CPU. None of this shit works and I'm sick of people claiming it does. It works for a short period of time the the problems always come back. Xbox's are crap. Plain and simple. Microsoft should be sued. Great idea. Anyone who has ever worked with electronics would know HEAT is a BAD thing for electronics.

  • @kottobahn i agree with u !

  • does this also fix the 1 red light/e74 error?

  • @switchblaydes lmao, my friend that doesnt know shit about electronics started to laugh cause he said "you put band aids on those"? lmao

  • guy in video is sexy ; ]

  • temporary fix...

  • wat does this fix? wat problem

  • can someone tell me in what fact that helps

(is it like helps the motherboard not to bend) ?????

  • 156 people actually tried to do this and FAILED

  • Is this a permanent or a temporary fix?? please reply...

  • @IKill4WhiteChocolate hey i jsut did it... and it is working fine i will reply to you in a week to tell you if it stills work :)

  • @Novacie thanks man... =D

  • this sucks.

  • I did everything but when I turn it back on I still have the 3 RED RINGS???? Help me please and reply back!!

  • bad song choice to suit the video...

  • Anyone else try this?

  • 155 people were too broke to do this fix

  • The Song Is Encouraging...

  • and what does this do for it?

  • Looks like FPS Russia's brother.

  • 8 pennies its too much it's biter buy new one

  • I think all you did was raise the net value about 6 cents.

  • my dad tryed the penny trick it didnt work well so now he has to throw my xbox away (i dont remember all my friends gamertags) im so sad right now :,(

  • @Fluffy50729CP you obviousley could of saved ur hardrive and it wouldve saved ur gamertag and friends or when u get a new xbox just reconnect to ur other acc.

  • @SnazzyCinema ya my dad gave me my old hardrive back and it works fine

  • @Fluffy50729CP lol nice ;)

  • @SnazzyCinema yep now im happy but idk why i cant connect to xbox live

  • @Fluffy50729CP youve got to recover your account from there u type in ur email then ur password from ur other acc private message me for more if u need help.go to the dashboard it should be to the right

  • mmmm oreos 3:30

  • I don't seem to have the size of hex screwdriver the one you use for the back on the x clamps. I went to three different sets of hex tools. Can you please tell me what size is that tool? thanks for you video also.

  • @jerodvel try a T8

  • @jerodvel T8. For some reason I don't have one either, but I am going to get one in the next day or two and fix my damn xbox.

  • Dude, he takes forever to take apart the xbox 360, it would of problem cooled down by now.

  • the red lights at the beginning look video edited, i personally think that its fake, and there is like no way that this trick would work

  • @TheREBELx1 They aren't edited that's what happens when you have that error code.

  • PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT USE HOT GLUE OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN SILICON BASE HEAT SINK. ALSO ONLY USE 2 PENNIES PER STACK OR YOUR XBOX WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. FINALLY YOUR 360 WILL REQUIRE A TOWEL TRICK TO COMPLETE IT

  • You didn't even show if the Xbox had red rings in the beginning of the video

  • @PfizerInc1 He did

  • hey you go to the army? your fan of call of duty? XD

  • Or you could send it back to Microsoft for a proper service for free.

  • @georgewhedge

dude your a fail . the reason this vid is here is cause MS wants 120$ to fix an xbox. most likly unless u just bought it. your warrenty is up

  • héhe_änÿÖnE_wÃnnã_chat_wïth_mÈ_ï_féèl_sÖ_l0ñÊlÿ_tÔdãy╝

  • My issue is my video keeps freezing up or noy coming on at all. I get green lights sometimes, I get 2 red, I've gotten 3 red, etc... The x-clamp fix has been done and the penny fix but nothing seems to work.

  • @RedSte yeah but you still have to over heat it again to remelt the solder for the video chip if you dont the other fixes wont help you.

  • @metalmanin I have overheated it so many times it's ridiculous. There are just crap to me, I'll probably just ebay one of them. One of them is modded and I got it to work for a very short period of time.

  • @RedSte i understand what you are saying i am just saying that whats actually happening is the heat melts the solder for the video processor and it disconnects it has nothing to do with the video ram or resetting anything

  • @metalmanin ok, I'll let it run until it can't anymore, maybe that will help.

  • @metalmanin i think it will be fine if you left it apart and put a big heavy heat sync on it so it wouldnt keep comming lose from heat

  • @ThaPyngwyn Well the video was made in 07.

  • I don't understand what is supposed to be achieved here; that link is broken. Also, the music is annoying.

  • Comment removed

  • wht lights have to be lit up for this to work

  • the song goes so well with this video.... lol

  • thank you soooooo much for this. My Xbox is fixed!!!!!!!

  • thank you soooooo much for this. My Xbox is fixed!!!!!!!

  • I'd rather have the RROD than listen to this emo-QQ-cry-my-wimp-ass-to-sleep-every-night-because-girlies-don't-like-my-limpdick-or-lipstick bullshit.

Nobody has pity for a fucking coward. Pull the trigger bitch.

*ahem* Nice tutorial,by the way. My bro said it fixed his sexbox. Cheers,I guess.

Thumb down this comment if you're a whiny little bitch. Yeehaw! Youtube r0x0rz my mudk1pz.
