Some people in the West don't want to see a strong China and that is why they fund those separatists overseas. I think democracy is a word that is given too much credit.

Free Tibet! Free East Turkistan! Free Inner Mongolia! Do you know Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989? Do you know that your government in Beijing made its soldiers kill students on June 4th, 1989? Can you imagine how students were run over by tanks at Tiananmen Square? It has been only 19 years! China (government) is repeating the same thing in Tibet today. It is too early for China to host Olympics. 六四天安門事件 watch?v=EPHEV5Sh0ls
- 1989 Tiananmen Square. When the naive Chinese students who were brainwashed by the Western media wanted democracy. The Western media cried out "give me freedom or give death!"
- 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. When the now much more sophisticated Chinese students who are no longer fooled by Western propaganda and demonstrate in support of China. The Western media cry out "Chinese nationalism and thus Chinese democracy is dangerous!"
- The West can NOT tolerate a strong China. They want to keep China down. This their ONLY objective. Democracy, no democracy your Western ass! Who the fu-ck gives a shit about your word games!
Thank god its over, all the photungua speaking hooligans from mainland are gone, who terrorised the HK protesters. But I'm still laughing at those torch body guards even George bush do not have so many body guards.
I want HK Govt. to shut the borders on such occasions so we can peacefully protest without those hooligans.
Lastly, kudos to those who had courage to speak out and shame on the HK cops. I have recently witnessed they are behaving like an animals and wow 3,000 cops for olympic torch!!
we are all Chinese..no need to thank us lah. As a hk ppl, I am proud HK held the olympic torch relay. Lets support the olympic together. Go China! Go Hong Kong! Go All Chinese people!
Another comment. I don't agree that Chinese students are violent. On the contrary, they are pure, have vision, speachless yet have loving heart toward their people and their country, hard working, peace loving group. It is amaze that, when they see biasing and demonize reportin from the west media, they stand up and defence the true base on their personal experience in China. A wonderful gift group. May you continue to build your dream on both knowledge and in person. May your dream come true.
Great event, may Hong Kong be better, May the world be better. It is joyful and a wonderful day to all people in HK. Just as NBC Sport contributor Mike Celizic said "I would expect no less of the most populous nation in the world, a nation whose culture and history stretch back beyond even the Olympics themselves. I can't wait to finally see it and experience it for myself, to meet its people and walk its streets, to be a guest at the biggest celebration of sweat any of us have ever seen".
The violent Chinese students represent a small elite of children from CCP party members and wealthy business owners who offer no rights to their poor workers.
These nationalist Chinese students have already ruined the spirit of the Beijing Olympics.
In Seoul, it is said that among the many injured bystanders attending the torch relay - one Korean student and one Tibetan girl were killed by the angry Chinese students.
However, this will never be reported in the Korean (or any other) media.
Are you serious that most of the people lining on the streets were from mainland? Be admitted that many Hong Kong people have accepted China is their country. As the first Olympic Game will be held in China, Chinese people should be proud.
Most of the people lining the streets were from Hong Kong. I was there myself and I have been living in Hong KOng for over 20 years. All of my friends went out to support. HK people have freedom of speech and press, we criticize the govt for what we don't like and what we think they've done wrong. But we all support the Olympics. It should be a politics free event and people like 'therepublicofhk' should be kept out of it, all they're going to do is ruin it for the rest of us.
People in HK has freedom of speech and freedom of press. The majority of them supported Beijing Olympics unlike the West. My view of this is: They know about China more than we do in the West.
Actually, HK people tend to be apathetic. For the most part, we don't care about the Olympics. The throngs of pro-China protesters lining the streets in HK were mostly from mainland China.
What this news clip doesn't show is the shameful behaviour of pro-China ultra-nationalist thugs who physically attacked peaceful Hong Kong pro-democracy and pro-Tibetan protesters in Tsim Sha Tsui district of Hong Kong.
That is how we Hong Kongers will remember the torch's visit to HK
It's so easy to find that news clip here, even Hong Kong media reported it. But some questions you may want to ask first: was the girl really protested peacefully? If her purpose was to rise human rights, why not she protested for other countries? why not she put up human rights' signs instead?

"For the most part, we don't care about the Olympics"
Did you know that over 50 thousand HK ppl (and that was the count 3 months before the application deadline) applied to be olympic volunteers?
Hah! We don't care do we?
