  • I've been making beats for awhile now & just upgraded from Garageband & got Logic 9 Pro yesterday & was clueless. • I owe you a cold beer Mig. Well done, probably the most educated I've ever been in such a short space of time. Thanks.

  • what a great tutorial, cheers to you Mr. Mig/Migtight

  • thank you for all your help! great tutorials!

  • ive been working in ultrabeat for years and i just learned all sorts of cool ideas. I love how fast you are, I fucking hate people that sit there and go " Umm...yeah and this here is the envelope...and you can umm......you can use this......to make it like....uhhh...shorter" AHH!!! Hate those guys! way to go bro, awesome lessons

  • u don't add reverb to a kick

  • @sebastian30000 lol who says?

  • @mrmigtight It's a rule of thumb that you don't add reverb to bass sounds cos it makes the track go muddy

  • @sebastian30000 I think you're wasting you're time on here if you're going by such silly 'rule of thumbs'. It totally depends on the type of bass or type of kick you're using, Reverb (and delay) sounds great on short stab type bass and it's fantastic on kicks. Continuous long bass notes may not need reverb or delay. You need to know what you're doin.

  • @sebastian30000 a little reverb on some kick drums works well sometimes on some tracks...especially some hip hop tracks

  • Fun and informative! Thanks!

  • Thanx man. This was ridiculously helpful

  • very good stuff

  • That was amazingly helpful man!!!!!!!! but i was just wondering, where did you get those strings, and piano tracks?

  • @uuhno Thx man....I actually played those parts using standard logic sounds.

  • Very helpful

  • You are the man!!... Although My Ultrabeat doesn't have any sample :S i.e. nothing to select from the drop down menu next to copy... (I have just bought my first Macbook pro)

    Can anyone help me

  • Dude, your tutorials are quality. Saved me a lot of messing about.

  • Your quick explanation of creating an aux track solved an unexplained issue on Stutter Edit as well:)

    Thanks for being so thorough!!

  • cheers fpr this big up

  • Just getting into using Ultrabeat for making my beats and you sir have helped alot!!

  • @FoxyBishop U know it lol but way before 2001

  • Thanks.

  • How do I get Ultrabeat to trigger via midi keyboard?

  • @HOODYWOODRECORDS As long as you have a midi keyboard installed you dont need to do anything but select a track, open Ultrabeat, and play.

  • Thanks man, very well explained.. Thumbs up!

  • Free drum samples + EXS24 Drum Kit to download

    original-music.co.uk

  • Cheers matey your a life saver,Ive spent 3 weeks pulling my hair out,not making a single sound. Most of the other tutorials only confused me more.

Do you know of any good sites that I can download extra drum samples from?

  • I WANNA THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! you seriously made my YEAR with this Tutorial.... Ive been wanting to figure out how I could Take the File and add it to the Track and YOU showed me how THANKS!!!!

  • How did you get ultrabeat to be almost as big as your logic page ? mine is tiny compared, is there a way to make ultrabeat biggre or even full screen with out using ctrl scroll wheel ?

  • Best ultrabeat tutorial I've come across. Great Job!

  • Thanks!

  • mate ur vids are bo!! they have helped me so much!

  • Not sure if this has been discussed, but I'm having a problem when dragging a pattern to the arrange window. It copies over the MIDI info and displays it on the piano roll and everything, but there is no audio output. If anyone could suggest what I'm missing, that'd be great. Thanks.

  • Excellent videos. Most helpful. I thank you for your time.

    peace. 

  • Thank you! very helpful stuff.

  • yeah i am having the same problem with that PLUS sign.. can sum 1 help me please?

  • @davejay10 You need to make sure that the Ultrabeat loaded is set to multi outs instead of stereo out you do that where you would insert the ultrabeat. It gives you two options stereo ultrabeat or multi out ultra beat. Check it out

  • thank you very much

  • The "plus" symbol doesn't appear on the ultrabeat strip when I switch the outputs to 3-4...

    Help?

  • i have this exact same problem, did you ever work out why it was?

  • Found the answers, I was looking for... Great help! Thanks!

  • Thanks, man.

This third tutorial was exactly what I needed to see.

  • how the hell do u get to that screen? to the mixer? plz help

  • Uh... by clicking the button that says "Mixer". It's in the bottom left hand corner. (Or you can just hit X on your keyboard.) It's not that hard to find, really.

  • i am gowing to download it to

  • cool video man keep'em coming.... hey can you or .. do you have a BASIC basic one on ultra beat

  • thank you for the lesson

  • Hey man, that video was great. The best part was where you said you would use another track to add "sprinkles and flavor crystals" lol. But that really took Ultrabeat to a new level for me. Keep the tutorials coming.

  • Wow this really helped!

  • is it possible to put what you make in ultrabeat, into a loop? because i sometime don't want the same beat the whole way through! help me someone!

    thanks

  • Actually to do that you dont have to put your ultra beat pattern into any loop. just make your beats your way and drag the pattern(Low left corner of ultra beat interface)and drop it into arrange window track. Then make another beat pattern and again drag it to arrange window track. That way you dont have to keep the same beat pattern whole way through .

  • thanks soo much, really appreaciate it!

  • fooking rule ;) was basically making nothing cos so complicated...thanks for helping :)

just need to get some ideas now lol

  • This video helped tons! Thank you so much for saving me time figuring out all of this!

  • The Logic Master!!!!

  • Ultrabeat seemed so daunting...but thanks to your series of tutorials I am LOVING Logic 8.Thank you so much...also for having a cool voice unlike the nauseating Macprovideo teachers.Haha

  • i love you mig

    you're the fkin don

hope logic's payin you for this shit

  • Thanks Wudwerd...I do it fo da luv!

  • and much love to you for the help. props!

  • Great vids man! First time I looked at Ultrabeat I just kinda stared blankly at it and thought "Phew, I am in WAY over my head on this one" lol nice job and thank you!

  • So, what happened to the part about explaining how the patterns are linked to keys? Is that in another video?

  • Thanks SO much, incredibly helpful, I've decided to finally stop putting it off and learn how to use Logic properly, great tool.

  • Can you tell me how to get a flam/ 32nd notes in ultrabeat?

  • At the bottom you can set it to 1/16 or 1/32 note templates. You have to do this first.

  • Great Tutorial..oyu confirmed once again your supremacy!!Do you use any hardware instrument in addiction to virtuals? What other virtuals did you installed on your mac after logic package?

  • Thanks man. I do not use hardware instruments anymore..except sometimes my mpc. I use the refx and Native Instruments synths as well but mostly Logic instruments for everything.

  • ok, i started watching this video thinking logic is nice by, its hard to make drum pattens. watch made me kinda dislike logic, but i followed u step by step now its soooo easy. thank u so much Mig.

  • Yeah man...Exactly. Routing to 1,2 / 3,4/ 5,6/ 7,8, etc.

  • Make sure to check my tutorial on beat slicing. You're still going to hear parts of the instruments. There is no way to just extract a beat from a mixed file. You'd be better off programming one yourself.

  • how about a tutorial on mixing a complete song and a tutorial on all the other plugins

  • Ill get into it all. I just started these a month ago.

  • whats better logic or pro tools

  • Its all preference. I own them all and only use Logic. Way better for MIDI. Also, Logic's audio engine is sweet. To get the same sound in Protools you need to buy a hi-def system which is very expensive.

  • Yeah , Mig gotta say thanks

    No doubt,nice 1

  • Thanks for helping de-mystify Logic. Really appreciate it.

  • My plaesure Proff!

  • Thanks dude!

  • Mig...your vids are off the chain! Keep up the good work, thanks for your investment in time....
