Thats what it is, art. WC or WT comes from one house. From the creation on and from master to master, nobody has changed this art, its the same and all in all it is not only about the fighting. Its the understanding of its filosophy and its meaning. If you understand that you wont see any differences between them

I studied Wing Tsun and thought I knew Wing Chun untill i started training under the now deceased Sifu Wang Kiu. He basically told me that I had to relearn it from the ground up bc what I learned from the Wing Tsun Organization was rubbish, even the form is different and some aspects of the WT form just don't make sense.
@yatalapieman yhes all it is is informative, they keep u training only one side of your body for years until ur allowed to even 'touch' aa wooden dummy. when i trained under Sifu Wang Kiu it took me 2 weeks and i was on the wooden dummy, The people from the WTO do as if a wooden dummy is soooo advanced shit, but it aint, the wooden dummy is there to build up feeling, not strength
Wing Tsun is a variation on the original Wing Chun. You can learn all Wing Chun techniques within 9 months but it is up 2 you to perfect them to your own personal use. All these guys (Wing Tsun Organization) does is make money off of people trying to extend the (students') learning period for as long as they can.

Speed has everything to do with the martial arts. First technique, then speed, so in a sense yes you acquire speed as you learn and develop as a martial artist.
but that is not entirely correct though. Look at taichi. Taichi dont practice speed in fact they prefer slow. But taichi is as effective as any type of kung fu.
Taichi is slow partly because its style focuses on teaching the knowledge for one's health and physique. The self-defense part encompass a smaller portion of its art, yet speed and good reaction still comes in play when using it. But it's highly improbable for a taichi user to beat up someone, because taichi just isn't that general "beat the opponent up" kind of MA. Now if it's a Taichi master that knows chin na or wingchun, there's def going to be broken bones lying around when the fight's over
I know tai chi can be fast. But you learn tai chi in the slow way but other forms of martial art you learn it in moderate to fast. The west tai chi is slow, is because there is no grand master in the west, and often the principles taught are a bit altered.
actually, in china, you learn both fast and slow right away. it is a combination of both spiriual and physical to move from the body's naturally state. then beyond your natural state to a state of pure energy. making your "fast" punched move purely of chi rather than tricep and bicep..plus hips..lol. but cool. im glad more people know about taichi's self defense. keep sharing yo.

Chinese martial arts teaches that training inside will strenghthen your body more than training muscles. Muscle training is more of western ideology.

That's probably true because unstable people don't have the mental fortitude to commit to Wing Chun. If you train once or twice a week you'll never get anywhere, it's really a lifestyle. You grow internally also when you practice kung fu.
Fummy work is not go fast as u can, it is a tool to train root & energy sending. It provides resistance which fights your body posture when u engage your hand & elbow energy into the wooden arms or core of the dummy. There should be no jumping, the dummy should spring back & forth if correct sending is done. The hands remain soft, it is not used to make calluses on the knuckles. U want fast, do your chi sau or spar, but not with dead motionless wood. This for Posture Training.

i know ving tsun is close quarter combat. Bruce lee did not finish the dummy but my brothers sifu has. Ving tsun is better than Wing chun

Speed has everything to do with the martial arts. First technique, then speed, so in a sense yes you acquire speed as you learn and develop as a martial artist.

but that is not entirely correct though. Look at taichi. Taichi dont practice speed in fact they prefer slow. But taichi is as effective as any type of kung fu.

Taichi is slow partly because its style focuses on teaching the knowledge for one's health and physique. The self-defense part encompass a smaller portion of its art, yet speed and good reaction still comes in play when using it. But it's highly improbable for a taichi user to beat up someone, because taichi just isn't that general "beat the opponent up" kind of MA. Now if it's a Taichi master that knows chin na or wingchun, there's def going to be broken bones lying around when the fight's over

I know tai chi can be fast. But you learn tai chi in the slow way but other forms of martial art you learn it in moderate to fast. The west tai chi is slow, is because there is no grand master in the west, and often the principles taught are a bit altered.

actually, in china, you learn both fast and slow right away. it is a combination of both spiriual and physical to move from the body's naturally state. then beyond your natural state to a state of pure energy. making your "fast" punched move purely of chi rather than tricep and bicep..plus hips..lol. but cool. im glad more people know about taichi's self defense. keep sharing yo.

o.O a little more info to the library. Yea of course its not all biceps and triceps, chinese martial arts is based on inner spiritual energy (or the term known as ki). Chinese martial arts teaches that training inside will strenghthen your body more than training muscles. Muscle training is more of western ideology.

Wing Chun, Ving Tsun, Yong Chaun and ALL the other spellings are more to do with certain teachers wanting to TRADEMARK their version of the Wing Chun art.
It is really all the same "dish" with different Sifus adding their own "spices" to create a slightly different "flavour".
Most Wing Chun in the world today seems to stem from Yip Man's Hong Kong lineage.
Chinese WC tends to have more footwork, apart from that it really is much of a muchness.

Fummy work is not go fast as u can, it is a tool to train root & energy sending. It provides resistance which fights your body posture when u engage your hand & elbow energy into the wooden arms or core of the dummy. There should be no jumping, the dummy should spring back & forth if correct sending is done. The hands remain soft, it is not used to make calluses on the knuckles. U want fast, do your chi sau or spar, but not with dead motionless wood. This for Posture Training.

yes that's his real speed. i dont speak German, but if he said Wing Chun is in the category of "sport" then I'd be happy to correct his perception. 10 years of training under Wan Kam Leung in Hong Kong, and I can tell you our Wing Chun is anything but sport, even the G4 unit of the HK Royal Police force use it, and if this is what passes for Wing Chun in Germany, then I feel sorry for the Germans, especially considering I'm part German. This guy is fast alright, but his hands look like a girl's.
