There is no drummer in mainstream music that is drumming like Micheal, his beats with the mixture of percussion and kit drum are an inspiration and his chops are just pure musicality. I especially like the one handed gravity rolls, nice touch to a solo :)

the first time i saw this gy perform was at a drum expo in Australia called Drumtek. he was FUCKING AMAZING!! his kit was the biggest I'd seen, it took up the entire stage. he is officially my idol, and he's so sweet to talk to! we had a short chat later that day :D

@attica1010 without a doubt, their current lineup is still probably one of the best trios going today but compared to the last lineup they don't quite make it to the same level (just my opinion). When i heard JBT where changing the lineup i instantly felt kinda sorry for whoever had to fill the shoes, no matter how good they are they are huge shoes to fill.

Yeah Michael was my first good teacher and has tought me over the course of the last 13 years. The guy is amazing on the drums of course but his passion for music is electric. Kinda glad hes not doing the JB thing as it frees him up to teach! Ill never stop learning from him!

@dietzness i don't know, Chad is better known (and one of my fave drummers btw) but it would be a sight to behold, a Barker vs Smith drum duel. chads phantom kicks are insane but the single hand rolls that barker pulls of while playing a djembe or bonjo with the other hand are pretty damn insane too.

I cannot believe that John Butler has sacked Michael Barker!! What's his sounds going to be like without that awesome drummer by his side. It certainly won't be the same, John Butler better have something really amazing up his sleeve or else I wont be buying his music anymore. It was Michael Barkers' rhythms that drew me in!
