I think the box says they're intended for "lawn and leaf" use. Therefore you could rake up a bunch of leaves, put them in these bags, and maybe put them in some random field/the woods/etc, allowing the bag to degrade over time, which would just leave leaves in a field. They probably weren't meant for everyday household trash.
