Brazil is changin so try to keep up. President Lula is living proof social justice is possible in BR just like Obama is for racial justice in US. Ever heard of Warren Buffet ? Most renowned investor in the world. Do u know what hes been doin past few years ? Buyin reais the brazilian currency. Oh and did I mention the little party we call Carnival that hosts 700,000 foreignors every year ? Thats one Olympics worth of tourists every freakin year so open ur eyes.
I'd like to know what else will happen in 2016 after the terrible problems with drug dealers we have seen! Brazil is a beautiful but third world country, with all the problems that this means. Millions of poor people that don't have the basics to live, and they will be isolated in order not to give a bad impression during the olympics. That is what the IOC has voted. Good job!
thats right baby rio it's gonna be AWESOME i mean beautiful beach people music everything it's so happy colorful!!! u can fell the energy around and it's near to VENEZUELA love it!! in the name of God i'm gonna be there thats for sure
Ne''? You're going to do something to fix their own lives? I came to this conclusion, no good fix the rest Fix the people, help as hell.'' Third World, where Joke abroad But Brazil is going to get rich We bill one million ... Paro''now everyone will wonder how our country get rich, and how we will bill one million without need to kill anyone''

Congratulation to Brazil ! I am glad to see a new country (not those countries which hosted olympics before, i.e. America / Japan ) to host the OLYMPICS !
miguelucho20008: Agreed. Chicago is too bland. Rio have fiestas and hot chicks in bikinis and thongs. I will envy those lucky athletes who will go to Rio in 2016. With all those athletic bodies everywhere it's gonna be an orgy at the beach!!! LOL.
Chicago is too bland? Have you even been there? I highly doubt it .I'm glad the Olympics will be in Rio, one of the nicest cities in the world. But Chicago is also an amazing city, and you should appreciate both cities for what they offer. Congrats to Brasil on getting the Olympics but don't say anything about a city you obviously know nothing about..
Absolutely. Thanks, I plan on it. I love Brasil and the Brasilian culture (there are many Brasilian people here in my home state of Massachusetts) so I am already a huge fan. Can't wait to experience it first hand! :)
yes it is, yes it is... I love it! That wouldve been a really big deal for my town if the olympics were in chicago... Besides, we had a secret weapon: Mayor Daley. He has bulldozers. XD
Concordo com o rubicxcibur, pois somos hospitaleiros sim, e quanto à violecia no rio de janeiro, sei que, tera que se investir muito, pois o rio é dominado po favelas e acredito que para o governo sera uma tarefa muito granda pela frente.
Congrats Brazil!! Truly happy for you. But now Brazil, you gotta stop living the chill lifestyle, with your amazing weather, awesome beaches, and beautiful women... and get involved with the world!!
I live in Chicago, and couldn't be happier that we weren't chosen. Come on, if the BEST representative we have to send over to Denmark is Oprah, we DON'T deserve to win the Olympic bid! Not to mention all the political corruption surfacing here in the last year or two....
think Rio De Janeiro needs the olympic games a lot more than chicago does, its not about what a city is going to bring to the olympic games anymore its about what the olympic games are gonna bring to a city. Brazil definitely needs this economic boost...congrats to the city of JOY !
I just watched all the bid videos and just based on them, it's not hard to see why Rio was chosen. Tokyo's pitch was BORING and HEARTLESS. You couldn't sell drugs to a crackhead with such a dull video. Madrid's video is plain and unpolished. Their motto is "the games of the people" and the last thing you see in the video is PEOPLE! I mean REAL PEOPLE, not a random black person planted there. And Chicago, well Chicago's was just MESSAGELESS; no theme, just random shots which weren't distinctive.
Estoy muy contenta por la desición! Brasil es un país espectacular y su gente ni se diga. Muchas felicidades y un saludos desde la isla del encanto, Puerto Rico! Parabéns Brasil!
Why? If Ishihara wasn't the leader of the campaign, it might have had a chance of doing so. Let's face it, he's not known for affection of non-Japanese is he? Tokyo basically had a good plan, but it added up to a very selfish approach in the end, which is not what the Olympics should be about.
The crime rate will see that this will be one of the worst attended Olympics of all time.
Madrid was the ideal location. Tokyo's infrastructure can't handle the influx of tourists and the U.S. has had the Olympics in one form or the other 4 times in the past 30 years.
Crime is still as high as ever in Atlanta despite the investment into that city. The Olympics aren't going to boost all the people below the poverty level to a middle class lifestyle and those people that commit crime to stay alive will see all those foreign tourists as a veritable goldmine.
I'm Venezuelan, but I am also South American and I felt so proud to hear Rio de Janeiro won the bid to become the host of the 2016 olympic games. Great country!! I like Pele and Lula a lot, too bad Lula can't run again for President. Congratulations Brazil!! and thanks for represent South America!!
NO! RIO WON! Seeing as people there steal right from tourist's hands and that it is very dangerous there, I would never choose to go there. But I must say, the part where the Rio people are cheering... in their business suits... is amusing...

As an American I am so happy for the Brazilian people and the citizens of the city of Rio De Janeiro. This has been long over due and was well deserved. I am glad to see that Chicago wasn't selected. It is time for other countries to be highlighted during the Olympics. We have already had our share of Olympic games LA, Atlanta, Salt Lake City(Winter games) I know I am forgetting one. But let other countries share in the tradition of the Olympics which unites all of mankind once the torch is lit.
If Obama wanted the victory, there was only one thing to do: visit officials one by one in their private rooms. Tony Blair did it, although this was supposed to be striclty forbidden.
Congrats to Rio and fuck the USA and Chicago. a real shithole with loads of dumb fat people.

Yeah! Right!
No wonder some athletes won't be as fit as expected after just one night out.
The Olympics should always go to happy places like Barcelona, Sydney or Rio.
