Jeff, charity is like feeding pigeons. It's a temporary relieve, nothing more.

To add, you can't be sure where your donated money, food, etc. truly goes, or, if it goes into the right hands, you can't be sure what portion of it did. Pocketing donations is nothing new. The ones who thought to be the nicest people are caught doing that all the time.

Instead of helping these abstractions, pick someone, do something life-changing to him, not just give a temporary relief. ;)

I support charity when it is self interested such as improving your community by supporting a local school, giving to a food bank, or giving blood because I value human life as well as the chance of someone I specifically care about needing it but all of these are completely selfish actions.
