Man, i have this question, how is posssible that you are using a japanese Super street Fighter cartrdige on your nomad? I cant do that!! I need to use a a mega key 2 adaptor...and it sucks cause because all the movement it gets disconnected many times!!
@BIMBOBOOP Japanese game will fit in a Nomad without modification. It's a tight squeeze but they do go in. Also if your Nomad cuts out/games freeze it means the contacts on the cartridge and/or in the cartridge slot are dirty.
@RetroGameTech actually is not like that, I am using my ntsc-u nomad, with this japanese genesis cardtridge, and everytime i tried to used it, a screen with red letters saying something like "just for pal/secam systems" appears. Any idea about it?
some cool stuff there man, good use of that new battery there in replacement of the old setup. there isnt any space on the inside of the nomad the mount it inside the case is there? just wondering cause that would make it much less bulky for sure.
@lukemorse1 I was thinking the same thing. It might just fit but would probably be a very tight squeeze. The problem with the Nomad is there are 2 mobos inside the case. One mounted to the front for the buttons/screen etc and another at the rear for the cartridge slot. Even still, there's quite a bit of room inside to play around with. I was thinking it could be done to a GameGear though.
Nice MoD! By the way, you may really need a switch to avoid power lines crossconnections!!! So, you may be able to charge the battery while playing on the AC Adaptor!
@ARMODILLOXX33 I've reworked the whole thing since making the vid. I'll be doing an update vid in the next few days but basically I've now fitted the new charger/circuitry inside the battery housing. Works perfectly and completely enclosed in the single unit :)
Awesome stuff, this would be the Nomad of today if someone would make a new version instead of those awful clones like the Gopher. Sweet battery life the bane of all portable systems, seems like you fixed all the shortcomings of the original. :)
@Polaventris Great link. Very interesting video. I was looking for info on charging Li-ion batteries the other night while doing this mod and that vid explains it really well. Thanks.
@shaurz Haha, don't worry, I'll be using a proper charger for normal everyday use. I was just using alternative adapters here to test things out. I also keep a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher right next to my desk (just in case :P).

Careful charging Lithium-Ion batteries. It can be unsafe if you don't use a circuit designed for charging Li-ion, they can explode and catch fire.
