I would have not painted the box. That just messes up the seal that you were trying to make with the tape. Also, I would have used the metal HVAC tape, which is much sturdier than duct tape and would probably have made a better seal. Although to be honest, you're not going to keep water out of anything forever. If you want to vacuum pack things, try wrapping them in towels before you seal them. That will help prevent tears in the vacuum bag and a loss of seal. Nice kit, though.
Obviously you don't prep for the shit that's really important or you would change that head gasket yourself and save yourself 900 or more of that thousand dollars you say it is going to cost to change it.
@mannexx111 Dude I totally would if I had the tools, I want to learn, but I'm in college living with my folks it's not like I can have a half torn apart explorer in the driveway for 2 weeks while I teach myself auto repair! It's not like I'm just lazy and looking for pity shit just happens and at my current phase in life paying someone to do it is really my only option. I checked out your channel and it's not bad, but you might wanna practice making friends better.
@Prepper7 Hey, you prepped by using a cache, had a problem, and the contents of your cache solved a problem. Mission accomplished, don't cry. Consider next time just using a 5 gallon plastic bucket.
@dsarti1 lol thanks man, check out my newest video it's half-dedicated to you lol and yes I know that tool box was 1.00 at a yard sale and I was taking a trip to michigan to see family so I said fuck it and used it
Man that sucks having to sell your silver. All my silver is basically my after high school plan since i have loads of it. Nice video good luck with everything
or worse, a kid finding it and hurting himself or others. I would just say that you should probably keep the guns more safely. That's just some advice, but like I said, I'm not a lawyer, but it just seems like you're opening yourself up to liability. Good luck in everything!
@Silverpicker Understandable, but the firearm is not in my name there is no personally identifiable items in the cache so if someone did find it before shtf (after is doesn't matter) they wouldn't be able to trace it to me and the gun is not stolen or reported missing so as far as Washington laws go the person with it in their possession would be responsible for it's use or misuse.
Hey, first of all, great videos! I just started watching your channel and it's great. The one thing I thought would be important to mention is, like you said, you need to prepare for everything (i.e. not just the end of civilization!). I am not a lawyer, so I'm not exactly sure what the laws are, but it may be a huge liability to bury a gun with ammunition in the same place. The last thing you need is for a criminal to somehow find it (no matter how small the chances are) and use it in a crime,
Reminds me when I left the States for over 2 years to live & work overseas. The country I moved to didn't allow firearm import. In a friend's basement, left a Glock, SIG, & Walther wrapped in silicon rags sealed in plastic bags inside a small locked pistol safe. Bad idea. Returned 2 years later to pick them up. SIG & Walther had developed a few small rust spots on steel slides. Nothing terrible. Glock was in pristine condition. Bad idea with the silicon rags. Should have used desiccant instead.
@Derail07 Yeah everything about a plastic tub sounds like it would have fared better than this metal box. I was pressed for time though and got the box for 1.00 at a yard sale so I said fuck it and used it. Well at least I learned not to use them, and that's why I did this experiment anyways.
Next time caulk all the edges before and after you close it and allow it to dry for 2days. Then get a can of roofing tar and tar over all the seams of the box and let that dry. Then wrap the whole thing in a shitload of shrink wrap and then several heavy duty black garbage bags. I did that with five gallon buckets full of ammo. Underground almost a year dug up no moisture.
