  • This game had one of the most satisfying/sad endings ever. No game has ever put tears in my eyes, but Snake Eater came pretty effing close. When the truth was explained about The Boss' motives at the end, and Snake saluted her grave, I was just filled with emotion. Not many games have done that to me.

  • You know..MGS3 was the very first game that made me actually cry. I still cannot believe that a game (a GAME!) made so fucking sad. The combination of the sad music, with the sad story and Eva's sad and crying voice telling that story was just too hard for me. The death of Big Boss in MGS4 also saddened me, but nothing beats the impact of the MGS3 ending.

  • Hehe, I have this on my iPod :P

  • i love you, the boss < =3

  • i was in denial for a while...i didnt want to push the button

  • This isn't the music that plays when you fight The Boss. This was from the trailer. It's been awhile, but doesn't it play the "Snake Eater" song during that fight?

  • @TheRigster1138 It does when you have either 5 minutes or 1 minute to defeat the Boss. I'm glad someone else knows this isn't the right theme XD

  • @TheRigster1138 This song plays when you are gunna fight the shagohod.

  • @JefteNintendoNerd No, when you fight the Shagohod it's a different song. The music from the Shagohod fight is called "Takin' on the Shagohod".

  • @TheRigster1138 Oh yeah? What do you call this then, friend? /watch?v=ctS9rnWY_Vc

  • @JefteNintendoNerd Oh, I thought you meant it played during the fight with the Shagohod, not the cutscene beforehand. Sorry, like I said in my original post, it's been a while since I played MGS3.

  • @TheRigster1138 Yeah, I guess I dunn goof'd too. :P It's okay

  • am i the only one who didnt feel bad when killing the boss?

at least she died in battle...

  • It is indeed a good song...except for the fact that it's an MGS4 song. Shame on everyone else who actually thought this was the Boss's battle theme :<

  • Apprently this song is in MGS3..my mistake, but it's where you're about to fight Volgin on the Shagohod.

  • @youdamnoni Shame on you for not playing MGS3 enough. This song plays when the fight gets critical. I used to listen to this while I anticipated MGS4.

  • @cloudchaserkite i recall this from the ending cutscene...not to sure about hearing it during the fight

  • @cloudchaserkite The music happens before you start your final fight with Volgin. Snake Eater plays when you have only 5 minutes left of fighting the Boss.

  • I wasn't prompted to push the button, but I thought I had to after the long wait, so I pushed it... I was so sad, buecause I had timed it perfectly...

  • Oh god, it made me push the button to kill her ;_;

  • Best tactic is to just hurl empty magazines at her. It sounds pathetic but her AI gets really confused and basically shuts down if they physically hit her. It is still totally worth it to play the fight properly though... This is the most memorable boss fight in any game I've played, followed closely by The End.

  • best song when i'm having a war with my homework

  • i love that battle,

i always used the snow camo :P

  • Comment removed

  • I remember that I still haven't completed this game since 2005.. I broke my mgs3 in two parts because I don't have the balls to kill The Boss

  • I can say I hated killing her for more than one reason...MAINLY THE DIFFICULTY OF THIS BATTLE! She is harder than all other MGS bosses. Plus she was such a good character

  • @Hemlocke3 She was hard the first time around, then I played through the ending again and I could take her down without losing much LIFE. Just hide and pop out a lot. You just need to know where she is.

  • @burningfajitasalt yeah, and after a while you can start getting a feel for countering her CQC, which is useful if your trying to get the Snake Camo from her.

  • it's not the final boss song (which is Snake Eater), it's the game's theme. Although it is a good song, there are more impactful songs in the series. MGS2 Main Theme, Here's To You (MGS1), Heavens Divide (MGS:PW) and Calling To The Night (MGS:PO) to name a few...

  • When I ended her life a part of me died with her. I've never been the same since. Odd to say such a thing about a video game, but that's how I feel. I woke up a few nights crying. Man, what an experience.

  • @dunecigar ... grow a pair man

  • @Timad91 lol

  • @dunecigar Thats what I felt after playing mgs4 since I have been following this series and playing the games over and over again since I was 5 :(

  • @dunecigar

I admit, the game is awesome in every way... story telling, character development, etc.

in fact, all MGS games are like that, but.... WHAT? "part of me died with her" seriously? I understand Naked Snake fellings towards her and stuf, but "woke up a few nights crying"??? thats just too much ^^

  • @dunecigar

MGS games are known to have a great impact on your feelings, i guess everyone who didnt just stupidly skip the sequences had a similar feeling. i personally sat in front of the screen and shed some tears while thinking about what exactly just happened in the last sequences. Especially when Snake saluted to the grave in the end. Up to now, MGS games are the only games that succeeded in pulling me completely with them, putting my feelings in a complete chaos for a few minutes.

  • The Boss looks like a spitting image of Cate Blanchett

  • Whoever made this, is a fucking genius !!!!

  • i wish my fucking ps3 was retro-compatible

  • @UnknowSoldier87 byu the HD collection!!! NOW!

  • @PS3AuRoN89 i mean.. "buy" xD

  • I think this song only actually played during one of the cutscenes surrounding the Shagohod fights.

  • Naked: Boss, why'd you defect?. Boss: I didn't

  • why the fuck we have to kill this wonderful lady

  • @1Nanalo Because we americans are idiots, that's why we killed a true heroine, we threw her to space just because we were afraid to lose the space war to Russia, We then were too cowards to face Rusia and to prove our innocense we had to kill a wonderful woman.

  • @XxOrochimaruX Are you serious? She wanted him to kill her so that he could carry on her will, did you seriously not pay attention? At least be right if you're going to take it so seriously.

  • @Slapmaster5000 No, you were obviously the one who did not pay attention, the boss knew all along what her defection would cause she was ready to pay the consequences and as a true soldier she is she wanted Snake to kill her so then he could carry on her will, she wanted him to remember her not as a soldier bu as a woman, and I was refering to the "reason" we americans decided to kill her...not about her mission. After all she was loyal to her country to the very end and we didn't see that.

  • @XxOrochimaruX So I'm wrong yet you're saying the exact same thing I just said with a more emotional bias? You're agreeing with me, except you're missing a large part of the story and why she did what she did, she knew she was going to die, and that it had to be her pupil that would do it. Go actually read up a synopsis before you spout emotional nonsense.

  • @Slapmaster5000 Who said I said the same thing? you? I would not bother in writing anymore, go and read first my very first post then read the one I reply back to you theeeeen you can come back and write about it. I still laugh at the people here in youtube, they feel all high and mighty but they do not even care about reading what others say they just want to write shit about others feeling that they are right. Funny people never ceases to amaze me.

  • @XxOrochimaruX You're not going to bother to just do a 5 second google search and look at the end of the story to see which part you're wrong about? You changed what you said in your reply, you're the one who obviously cannot read. The only funny person here is you, ignorance sure is funny isn't it?

  • @Slapmaster5000 xDDDDDDDD

  • @XxOrochimaruX Ah, given up I see, you're wrong so you just reply with a stupid face like you all of a sudden, you've lost.

  • @Slapmaster5000 XDDDD I keep laughing at you cause you are irrelevant, all you say is a lot of crap, What can I do other than laugh at your comments? do you really blame me? Or are you gonna throw a full load of crap about "How did I lose an argument" Where it wasn't an argument to begin with, I expresed my opinion based on the right facts about the Boss and some random guy decided to make this an "argument" though he doesn't realize that no one is arguing with him for that I just laugh :D

  • @XxOrochimaruX Even though what I said was TOTALLY relevant? I'm sorry that you have to try and move attention away from the fact that what you said was just wrong, and when i pointed out that you obviously didn't even look to see if you were wrong. You're an idiot, only idiots put laughing in their comments. I saw one of your other comments "what's the american debt? 500 B?", you ARE ignorant and thick just as I thought, do everyone a favor and throw your computer away.

  • @Slapmaster5000 Yeah I asked about American debt cause I- AM-NOT- a north american citizen to begin with I live in latin america so I talk spanish and I got no idea what's American's debt, so you blame me for that and use it as a "possible" argument to state my supposedly ignorance according to you, right? That's low, if I was to ask you the same you wouldn't know cause you don't live in my country. This once again is the proof that you do not know what you are talking about! A waste of time.

  • @XxOrochimaruX Actually it's ONCE AGAIN proof that YOU don't know what you're talking about, and all it took was ONE google search to figure out the answer before spouting out made up garbage because you're being ignorant and lazy, gtfo.

  • @Slapmaster5000 That's why I asked someone if they could tell me about the subject, there is nothing wrong in asking someone whenever you do not know something. I understand you don't know what Im talking about cause for you, asking someone else a question is a shame for you, you feel like ignorant right? that's is why you go to Google in order to conceal your ignorace, and that's not my case I just ask someone cause I have the balls to do so, you on the other hand...I don't think so, good try.

  • @Slapmaster5000 You lost once again, keep trying, I'll keep laughing and breaking all of your arguments or should I say "blasphemias"? Grow up, you are making a fool of yourself. I am a mature guy so I will drop this topic right now with myself "victorious" in this argument and I know I should not declare myself such like that cause this wasn't an argument in the first place it was more like a whining and bitching guy trying to look funny here on youtube, so keep writing I'll ignore from now on.

  • @XxOrochimaruX You're a mature guy so you're going to claim yourself "victorious" even though you're just being an ignorant asshat? How is that mature? You're just making a way out because you're wrong and you don't want to admit it because you AREN'T mature, so yeah good, gtfo.

  • @Slapmaster5000 Orochi was right. The Boss had to be killed because the American government was abusing her. Due to the incident with the nuclear missile that Volgin fired and such, someone was needed to be blamed. They chose The Boss - and someone from the US needed to kill her. Snake did it. The Boss was the perfect candidate since the CIA feared her. Snake would prove the USA's innocence and The Boss would die. She didn't want to, but she allowed her student to kill her, out of Patriotism.

  • I started getting really really nervous when I hit the three minute mark.

  • Also, if i'm not mistaken, isn't the theme for The Boss's battle silence until about halfway through when a version of Snake Eater plays without the vocals? At least that's how I remember it.

  • Snake: WTF why are we fighting!?

Boss: I dunno, lets go home

And everyone went home happy. Except Volgin, who was blown up by lightning :D

  • one of the most epic moments in my life the fight whit The Boss

  • "Boss"

    "You have 10 minutes, Jack."

"Be loyal to your country! Finish your mission! Face me!!"

  • Its too bad this song takes like 5 minutes to kick in >:

  • Freaking epic ! Every MGS game is a masterpiece in its own !

  • Ocelot is ugly as hell.

  • TORIHADA!!

  • I have to say The Boss is pretty hot.

  • @reece79able I am not a goth, and my picture is Marilyn Manson, one of my favorite singer. and you know, that's what make EVA a big mama.

  • emotions i was feeling when i killed the boss

    1)fear

    2)regret

    3)guilt

    4)sorrow

5)UNSPEAKABLE TORTURE TO MY BRAIN WHEN I CRIED MY EYES OUT Q.Q

  • @reece798able

I cant battle the boss, I just cant. My game remains unfinished until this very moment.

  • @nsun009 after killing the boss, my heart sank, tears erupted out my eyes, my heart will never feel as cool for killing a woman after what happened to the boss and the emotional effect it had on me, some day, i will relive this epic game, and this time, i will prove im a real man by putting the boss out of her misery as soon as possible, she wanted one final battle with snake, and thats what i gave her, but in the end, i will NEVER look at the metal gear solid series ever again

  • umm the song snake eater is the final boss theme!

  • sounds suspiciously like socoms theme

  • @halo3mongooseftw yes look the soundtrack was made for harry gregson williams same dude from socom call of duty and a lot of movies

  • Eva is such a GILF, Granny I'd Like to F...

  • @muratveli Dude, that's just wrong ;p

  • wow eva is sooooo old

  • this game is 1000000/10 best game i ever palyed i swaer in ps 2 !

  • wtf fucking good song man !

  • I DONT GET IT THIS ISNT THE FINAL BOSS THEME D:< i dont get it im confused

  • I've been getting a lot of responses to my "Who is that woman?" post, so lemme put this to rest.

I finally played "Metal Gear Solid 4". I loved it. I know who she is now. Thank you to all who replied. The music from MGS3 (and the entire series) is phenomenal.

Now let's just hope "Metal Gear Rising" is coming soon.

  • @darkram13 Its coming December of next year.i think. Check it on the E3 Website.

  • 4 peeps got killed by Snake cause they're the last boss (or whoever fights the last boss, as i NEVER played mgs3)

  • Damn it, why do people label this as the FINAL BOSS THEME and make it look like the Boss' song? The Boss wasn't even there when this song played. This was the theme that played when Snake and EVA faced off with Volgin for the last tim in his Shagohod. It's the final fight with Volgin, not the final boss in the game. The final boss was Boss, damnit!

  • This is the main theme to the Metal Gear Solid series, not the Boss's song.

  • I keep searching for Final Boss theme and such, but it keeps giving me THIS. Pretty sure THIS played during the cutscene just before Snake and EVA's final battle with Volgin.

...I'm looking for the Snake Eater theme remix at the REAL final battle aganst the Boss.

  • @BongaFish You and me both.

  • @justhere348

I'd figure it'd be a piece of cake to get.

Extremely surprised that the song is apparently nowhere on YouTube.

  • @BongaFish The instrumental version of Snake Eater? I've been trying to find it for a while I don't know if its anywhere. I always go slow with the fight just to have it play

  • @FreshPrince1998

There are two instrumental versions: the one that uses trumpets to take the place of the voice and the one that we're talking about; the one that plays during the Boss fight, that uses violins. The first instrumental version is easy to find (hell, it's one of the tracks in Super Smash Bros Brawl), but the Boss fight theme is nowhere. Whenever you type up anything like FINAL BOSS THEME, it gives you the theme that plays when Snake and EVA face off with Volgin in the Shagohod.

  • @BongaFish yeah I want to hear is the one that plays during the fight

  • @darkram13 the woman at 1.19 is EVA from mgs3 the hot woman :D she looks nice and was snakes partner =) she is the mum of snake in mgs4. She called Big Mama.

  • @darkram13 the woman at 1.19 is EVA from mgs3 the hot woman :D she looks nice and was snakes partner =)

  • the best song

  • Eh this isnt the boss theme. But MGS1 duel is more epic

  • who speak spanish

    quien habla español

  • @deibidj Yo.

  • @deibidj yo hablo español

  • the boss is my hero

  • The song is by harry gregson williams (piano violen

  • great quality of sounds! Awesome!!

  • true

  • The Boss is amazing

  • Anyways Big Boss killing Boss was sad i liked Boss.

  • i cried :(

  • Who is that at 1:19?

If it has something to do with MGS4, please be vague. I've only played 1 thru 3, and don't want MGS4 ruined.

    Thanks

  • snakes "partner" from mgs3

  • oh shit! what happened to EVA?

  • @Kurostyle21 she got BURNT!

  • @r3a3p3r way to ruin it

  • @darkram13 its a tit

  • @darkram13 EVA from mgs 3 but that's her in mgs 4

  • @darkram13

The one who accepted the apple from the Snake...

  • @darkram13 you aint missing much with MGS4 massive waste of time

  • @jisthebest50 HEATHEN

  • @darkram13 its the boss?

  • @darkram13 Her name is EVA. She was Snake's Partner/girlfriend sorta thing lmfao. In the final scene of the game, they make love but Sake awakes to find her gone with an apology letter saying how she was sorry but she HAD to double cross him and take the philosiphers legacy. Too bad snake prepared for that and had the real one.

  • @darkram13 if u ahvent played 4 by now, shes kinda important

  • @thralldeathh EVA dies in MGS4@!@ hAha spoiler!@@@@ >=D

  • @airemillion90 yeah i have beaten the game 6 times, i know

  • @darkram13 Dude its Eva but shes like 60 in that pic

  • @darkram13 it's Eva in MGS4

  • @darkram13 That picture is from MGS4, but she also starrs in MGS3. She's EVA, Snake's partner in MGS 3. I didn't played MGS4 either so i don't know what roll she actually plays, but she still is in vital roll.

  • @zi0808 and yes, that's "OLD" EVA. She was much more younger in MGS 3.

  • @zi0808 fuckin helll...i didnt expect EVA to look like this in MGS4

  • @reece798able You know, shes 78 years old in MGS4, So i think even that is YOUNGER LOOKING face for that age.

  • @zi0808 your picture tells me your a goth? o.o but 78? how does she do all that shit? e.e

  • @darkram13

    Solid Snake's and Liquid's "Mom"

Female operative of the "Operation: Snake Eater"

One of the founders of the "La Li Lu Le Lo"

Ocelot's "Co-Operative" after the "Operation: Snake Eater"

    "Matka Pluku"

  • @darkram13 Eva's old look, BIG MAMA

  • @darkram13 the person at 1:19 is BigMama, also known as Eva from MGS 3

    in MGS4 she died

  • @darkram13 the sexiest women in mgs 3 :D

  • @darkram13 that the mom of snake

  • if you think about it the boss would of accually won the last battle, she cant be beaten but then if they did that then nothing would make sence, she was so fast and powerful and she was the master, but i think she kinda gave up because she didnt need to fight for anything anymore and couldn't go home. i mean seriously she couldnt be beaten, if you played mgs3 then you seen she dropped snake so fast that he didn't even know what happened, it made me cry when eva was explaing what happened.

  • Some people think she let herself be beaten and I just don´t believe it. I don´t think she´d do it. She tried pretty hard there, and acknowledge Big Boss had learned what he needed to succeed her. She selected him knowing he could surpass her in the first place.

  • I'm certain she let herself be beaten.

If you watch the scene just before Snake kills her she still has her gun in her hand, which she hands over to him to kill her with.

You think she couldn't have shot him when he approached her?

    Of course she could have.

She could have beaten him. She could beat anybody. But she had nothing to fight for.

Don't get me wrong: I don't think she went easy on him in the fight, but she didn't fight with everything she had either.

  • not like I remember the game 100 percent but if it happens after you beat her than she´s already beaten. games mix in and out of the reality in that sense. If snake beats her life bar, then that means shes defeated storywise too, unless stated otherwise in games.

So she was already defeated and snake could have finished her off whenever but they had a last talk before. that kind of thing happens often in fiction.

  • Alot of people are saying she can´t be beaten. But thats not true. The game lets you beat her, it just didn´t let you beat her before. In game they show she has all the skills snake has, in other words there´s no reason they aren´t equal. Snake just needed polishing, and she uses the greatest warriors alive to do that.

  • Well obviously once you beat her in the fight then the storyline makes her lose.

She's a computer character and when she's fighting the actual player controlling Snake of course she's going to lose. She can't think like an actual human player can after all.

But I'm saying after she loses the fight and she's lying in the flowers she isn't dead or paralysed or even stunned.

She's perfectly capable of getting back up and shooting Snake when he approached her if she wanted to.

  • snake could have shot her from a distance as well. I think she just accepted defeat and was at his mercy.

  • When she's lying in the flowers her white clothes make her almost invisible. He had to get close to see her (though he got closer than he needed to because he wanted to talk to her).

When he got close she could have shot him. If you watch the cutscene you'll see he approaches her without his gun (which is why she gives him her gun to kill her with). She still has her Patriot right next to her. She could have put twenty bullets in his head before he could say "You got me".

  • that really doesn´t explain anything. He could have shot her. she wasn´t invisible because he would have known where she collasped. He didn´t have a gun out because he had won already.

  • Sorry I wasn't specific: When I say he had to get close to shoot her I meant to shoot her accurately.

But to the point, I'm just saying that she could have stopped him from killing her.

She lost the fight because the game designers have to make her lose and because she can't beat an actual human player.

The human playing the game can obviously beat The Boss. Snake himself cannot. When the player is not controlling him (the cutscenes) she beats him up repeatedly and smashes his guns.

  • Look, I think its a testament to the writing or the character that even though snake beat her, a player doesn´t think she´s beatable. But it woudln´t have mattered because that point in the story she couldn´t be beaten. The story wouldn´t let it. It could have been a boss fight, it just would have been an unbeatable boss.

  • what are you all discussing about? GadGades is right. of course he could kill her from distance but she accepted that she got beaten and wanted to talk to snake for a last time.

by the way she could have shot him when he came closer but she probably didn´t want that he really dies that soon. she accepted that snake became a that good soldier and gave him the oppurtunity to go on living. she wanted that he survives but couldn´t just let him go

  • @Kurostyle21 EVA says in the end that it was The Boss' mission to die

  • I cried too when Eva was explaining everything. The Boss had such a sad life. She loved her country so much. She gave up everything to protect her country and look what it got her :(

Branded a traitor by the people she died to help, her son taken away from her, having to kill her partner.

    Such a sad life.

I hope she's still alive as a spirit and can be with the Sorrow now.

  • @packlesswolf1

Going easy would have depleted the principal of the biggest sacrifice the Boss could ever make. She died and disgraced herself for her country's safety and put her all in that fight against Snake as a final lesson about priorities. She made him into a true soldier during that fight, forcing him to give it his all and truly vanquish her, putting his duties before everything else.

I find it hard to believe she half-assed the most important thing she's ever done for Snake.

  • the most epic song of all time !!!!!!!!

  • The Boss's theme is snake eater

  • @pic

    true patriot

  • Wierd,it played nothing for the first 5 minutes and then played snake eater for that last 5 minutes fighing the boss.

  • you're right about that. this song does not play for "the boss" boss battle. It's during a cutscene where the shagohod escapes from a collapsed bridge and you have to fight it. ALOT of people mistake this song for "the boss" boss battle.

  • when i got this audio file, it was named final boss song. i know that it doesn't play during the final boss battle with the boss. I just named it the same as the name of the file.

  • I heard this song play during the Final "Boss" Battle, once it was finished it played Snake Eater theme. Could this be a glitch?

I'm 100% sure of this. I played the final boss battle several times so I could listen to this song.

  • Amen, brother.

    Thumbs down forever.

  • MGS came before Pirates, dumbfuck.

  • Since Pirates would've had to copy MGS, which makes you wrong.

    And name them.

  • i am so going to use that word from now on!

  • It´s the best Videogame-Song I´ve ever heard. But I love Encounter and Snake Eater too! And Calling to the Night...

  • This song is fantastic.

This, Old Snake, & Snake Eater take the cake for best MGS Songs ever, and probably some of the best soundtracks out there.

  • I would say Ocelot Youth instead of Old Snake.
