  • This seems too easy for her!

  • I can only imagine how many pointe shoes she has gone through...

  • Darcy Bussell has the longest legs of any ballerina I've seen in ages.

  • woooooooow! amazing!:)

  • its all in the control. She is such a natural.

  • technique = beautiful

  • those feet!!!!!!! amazing :)

  • HOLY FREAKIN SHIZANG!!!!!!

  • beautiful: the people, music, dance, and of course...THE COUTURE THEYRE WEARING :D

  • I am THE hugest Darcey fan. This was amazing!!

  • I absolutely loooove the Royal Ballet! :) Sarah Lamb is amazing as well as Darcey Bussel.

  • I love the music to this!

  • where's the rest of the variation???

  • it was ok i guess could be alot better i mean some parts were alright

  • oh wow, shes just stunning to watch!!!!

  • then again it turning in at certain parts may be a part of her "character dancing" style

  • good legs but it almost looks like shes not turning out (a major part of technique)

  • Simply perfection. Supreme musicality and flawless technique. That variation is a killer!

  • WOW! That was the most amazing i have ever seen that variation performed!

  • Incredible technique and musicality as we expect from an English ballerina...but....where's the beef?!? I'm a minor fan of Bussel, but I'd be a major fan if she had more aplomb ...MUCH more aplomb, use of epaule' and ... well more passion!!! This isn't really Bussel's fault - it is the fault of the varieties of the ho hum, "must be subtle" English systems of training. Thank Goodness they have finally introduced Vaganova and some French techniques into the English professional training.

  • Aplomb !!! this is Ashton not Petipa , this is not Kitri , the dynamics she executes in this piece is flawless. This is as english as it gets and shes english and yet we have a critic complaning that is not russioan or french enough . I dont get it !!

  • I agree only in part. Indeed, I retract the term "aplomb" & apologize. Rather, I should have used the term, "passion." Though, passion may be considered a part of aplomb, for this post's purpose, I will keep them apart. In my view, passion is something that often alludes English ballet, & often Bussel. But, witness Semionova's interpretation of the same Ashton Sylvia: passion. This -is- Ashton, which by no means says that the English shouldn't be more capable of passion. Ergo, my "Beef."

  • @Prosemo Maybe dont watch royal ballet dancers then? I for one love how subtle royal ballet dancers are, and would be very sad to see that change.

  • Una pregunta

¿De que ballet es esta escena?

  • Sylvia, de Leo Délibes.

  • gracias

  • una pregunta

¿De que ballet es esta escena?

  • Darcey Bussel is so exquisitely perfect.

  • I know nothing about ballet but this is beautiful.

Can I ask a question to someone who knows, Is she the best ever?

    x

  • this variation is so difficult and darcey looks amazing with it i just love her shes amazing but yes her hands mmmm i dont like tem at all but ove rthat shes amazing and in this variation she looked gorgeous

  • Lol, I would have agreed with you if you would have mentioned her shoulders and hands.

  • wat planet r u on???

  • Ok, honestly, I love Darcey Bussell and mainly because she had awkward shoulders and hands especially for tutu ballets. What planet are you from if you haven't notice. She is still one of my favorite dancers.

  • That sesone section is insane!! (Pardon my bad French...I speak ballet, not spell it!)

  • sisson.. im pretty sure :)

  • .... one of the hardest female variations out there...

  • oh my gosh that is such a difficult variation

  • no stupido sarai tu w la danzaaaaa

  • This piece of music is called Pizzicati (or Pizzicato for some) from the ballet Sylvia - "Pizzicati from Sylvia", written by Leo Delibes (1836 - 1891).

  • Whats the name of this music?

  • What's the name of that tune?...who composed it?

  • she makes it look so easy

  • wow! that variation looks amazingly difficult!

  • then dont watch it u mental idiotity

  • Yea seriously if you hate it don't watch it!! You ding-dong brain

  • I dont think that if you took the time to look for this video...that u really think its boring......LOL ....IDIOT

  • i didnt take the time to look for this video, it was in my friends recent comments box, div

  • ooooh so beautiful!!!

  • beautiful...oh to dance like that!

  • What variation is this one???

  • that is one superrrrrr difficult variation.. but shes amazing at it as usual

  • ive never even seen sylvia and i looked at the dancer and knew it was darcy. Do u know my teacher jane chidlow was friends with her? yes well darcy is extremely good. fantastic. wonderful. tallented, great SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, the dancing was flawless, and the music was incredible. I could neither dance nor play either one lol

  • I wish I could play that music like that...

  • Exquisite! Wow!

  • what is the name of the song?

  • it's called "pizzicata" by leo delibes :)

  • pizzicati

  • Yes, this little moment is extremely difficult for the dancer AND the orchestra. Full credit to both, it's excellently done...

  • This variation looks so hard!

And the musicians... I mean, sure, they're professionals, but playing pizzicato at the same time must be hard! I mean, plucking all the strings at the same time? Wow!

  • it must be an extremely dificult and harf to learn variation..

  • I love Darcey's costume in this. So pretty

  • mmm oww!! those hops on pointe look so painful!! but she makes them look so effortless and painless!!!

  • Please look at what almostlover posted above

  • ok i am fucking tierd of this. people that have the VAIN to correwct professional dancers are so retarded.

  • THANK YOU!! Thats so right! Unless you've had a career as a professional dancer you should not correct professional dancers.

  • Absolutely!! Ballet is extremely difficult and to make it to the professional level is impressive in itself. Darcey Busell is an amazing dancer and we should praise her for that!

  • @ecj177

you are so primitive. Probably a US-American.

"extremely difficult" my ass! real beauty is without any effort, it flows from inside.

  • BELLLISSIIIMMMOOOO BALLET AMAZING

  • Darcey Bussell's the Best dancer since Margot Fonteyn! People are gonna kill me for saying this, but i think Darcey's better than dear old Margot!

  • They are diferent, but I also think that

  • I understand wat ur sayin Dar ey is amazing but I just love the way Margot showed the whites of her eyes wen she danced

  • yes, Margot did have something that made you want to look at her.

  • Wen u see pictures of her in black and white playing the balck swan in swan lake, they really stand out & they look amazing

  • this coment is really rude, but coming from you, is even worse. I hope you are not really Tiit Helimets, I hope it from the botton of my heart, because if you are...shame of you.A professional dancer unable to respect Dame Margot and making this disgusting coments...I am embarrased for you

  • Ok maybe I am not familiar with this term. But showing the whites of ones eyes only brings up visuals like, Deer in the headlights or terrified horse mabe even terrified dancer. I did not know that this saying meant that it was a good think, I thought that you were joking.

  • Shut up, SZlatkovsky! Darcey's a star and will always be. She's putting in all her efforts already. Don't be so harsh on her!!!

  • Darcey Bussel is already beyond tecnique. Over rated, spoons hands does't matter anymore! she is a star!

  • I would love to see the entire variation, not half of it!!

  • ya i agree shes really good but the upper body is too stiff and not expressive at all

  • why isn't this the original sylvia variation?

its just made by another producer.

  • I love this variation!

  • I am sooo happy this is on here. Sylia is one of my favorite ballets. I have performed this same variation at a number of performances.Bing a balleina and all hehehe!

  • I love darcey bussell but i dont like this on her.

  • i love Darcey...i just can't pick fault with her at all! my friend who trained at the arts educational school not only slept in the exact same dorm as darcey did, but her bed was even in the same position! so incredibly cool.

  • I do not think Darcey is over rated at all! and i am sure most people will agreee with me in that she is and will always be one of the worlds best Ballerinas.

  • i admire her so much. she smiles like a little girl

  • bussel is over-rated, fantasic dancer, but not one of the world's best

  • She is truly and quite easily one of the world's greatest ballerinas!!!! She will be missed!

  • This is a reconstruction of the ballet that Fonteyn danced in the 50's. The choreography was never noted down but this is very very close to the original. Monica Mason danced this role under Ashton and she helped with the reconstruction.

  • Is this the original choreography? Anybody has the whole Variation?

  • No. I saw Fonteyn in the ballet in 1959. This is in no way similar and a disappointment although Darcy is beautiful. The last part was simple releves deriere (sorry) with fingers pointed avec radient smile that bought the house down. I was taught the choreography by a corps member.

  • Thank you for putting this video up. Darcey is just radiant throughout. She has that gorgeous lightness required for Ashton choreography as well as that gorgeous pointe. I prefer her variation to Zenaida Yanowsky's. Why didn't you show the whole variation?
