How do you become the guys who design the engine, locks, brakes, transmission, etc at an automotive company such as mercedes?!?!

??? Literally one of the very very few reasons to get a PhD in Engineering is for academia. I appreciate the reply, but it was pretty vague...

@fcmilsweeper9 That wasn't vague one bit, as I very much implied you have to be the best of the best. It should obvious to someone what credentials they need, especially for a high-end automaker. I just politely answered your question, as no one else cared to for 6 months.

What i don't get is why Mercedes paint has orange peel in it. Orange peel is a term used when you look at the paint. The paint itself looks like an oranges skin. It's smooth but it has little ripples.

This is just a random guess but maybe it's like a golf-ball= increased aerodynamics for better fuel consumption

The question I ask is this. Is it a Mercedes engine, or an engine built "by engineers" at Mercedes? How did a Mercedes engine came to be?
