  • It felt like the entire film was built around this scene - one of the best set-pieces ever.

  • Why would they even need trucks that large to carry a small cargo of 3 boxes? No pickup trucks were available? You'd think they'd opt for lighter vehicles on those roads, flimsy bridges or not.

I find it hard to believe such a bridge would hold that much weight, and the details of how they filmed it would be interesting. Did they use hollow shells of trucks in the wide shots?

  • @Antithropocentric here's one detail of how it was filmed (though you probably already knew this) the bridge is hydraulic and bends on direction. It's stronger than it looks because it was made for the moment.

  • @arlobrubaker hollow shells for the trucks? I can see that working but in some shots we see the diesel exhaust and the wheels are moving so it's probably a combination of varying techniques per shot.

  • @arlobrubaker, that explains a lot. The truck exceeded the "angle of no return" too many times without falling. They could have been more subtle about it!

  • @Antithropocentric actually the trucks fell off a few times while filming so yeah, "angle of no return" was definitely pushed to the limit and beyond. I know what you are saying though, if the truck were on a hill at that angle it's going to fall over. i think we are to assume that the ropes are stopping it from doing so but to rest that weight on the ropes would probably just make them snap.

  • If there is a God, this film has to come out in widescreen director's cut DVD. Pleeeeese!!

  • God, I can't watch, 2mins in and well into it must find the full version

  • Thank You God in Heaven for being precious and wonderful and perfect.

    It always helps !

Having great friends is Great too .

    I Love You....

    Do not ever forget it

I Love You...and you and you

Thanks a lot for being excellent

  • In fucking tense

  • This never gets old ...how does it manage ???

One of the greatest movies ever .

  • I do not care how many time assholes say this sucks

This is one of the most excellent movies ever put to celluloid .

  • So hard to get a good rain scene in a lot of movies , ask any director .

Friedkin went overboard to get this beyond excellent scene..never seen anything like it .

A completely underrated ( and admittedly hard to watch and depressing outcome )

movie wherein the journey is the trip ..

  • Part 668 of the series, "So you think you want to be TRUCK-Driver, eH????"

Is this the bridge TO hell, FROM Hell, or lightly passing OVER hell?

I prob would have spent at least 5 or more hours at least trying to reinforce the weakest-looking parts of the bridge!

Simply incredible. One of the more poignant, memorable, indelible movie-scenes ever that has stuck in my head since I first saw it about 30 years ago. I bought the fantastic T-dream soundtrack-album & then searched for the movie.

  • BEWARE: This is the butchered European edit of the film, which cut out nearly an hour of footage. From IMDB; The European version of the film was re-edited and shortened by CIC, the European distributor, without director William Friedkin's permission. The prologue sequences set in New York, Paris, Vera Cruz and Israel that show what happened to the main characters and why they had to flee to South America, were changed to flashbacks running throughout the film.

  • @TheIntruders Thanks for info .

Ya got to see the original .

  • Best example of men being and acting as men. show your sons.

  • whoah, good movie so far. Thank you very much for uploading!

  • Incredible bit of film-making, eh?

  • Esta parte de la pelicula es la que mas me gusta, está excelente

  • Remember this Movie came out about the same time as the Star Wars phenomenon!

  • That bridge scene was fucking incredible.

  • @fidellah23 I agree - terrific scene from an amazing movie (so underrated). If you get a chance, watch William Friedkin's comments about this film. He said the bridge scene was the toughest shot in the film. That old, rickety bridge actually cost a million dollars to construct! It's hiding a bunch of hydraulics to exaggerate the rocking motion.

  • original film wasnt bad either. liked the other part where they blew up a giant tree in the road too. im amazed this wasnt as popular when it came out.

  • original film wasnt bad either. liked the other part where they blew up a giant tree in the road too.

  • original film wasnt bad either.

  • I'm surprised he doesn't say, "We're gonna need a bigger bridge."

  • Usually remakes suck, but this remake does not suck. I still like HG Clouzot's original Wages of Fear better, but Sorcerer is a damn fine movie. The bridge scene still astounds me.

  • fave film of all time never get bored of this bit of the film

  • Fave flick of all time, I want a kooll Tonka-truck to drive nitro thru the jungle!

  • Would you drive this bridge? have to confess, I'd think twice in a suzuki sj, never mind a full size truck! Cracking movie...

  • The bridge scene here is one of the best segments of this terrific film - extremely suspenseful! Thanks for the upload.
