  • Who can forget Patrick Troughton as Father Brennan in The Omen? An unusual face with spooky eyes, bordering on sinister. However, a great character actor.

  • he wanted to play it with a turban and blacked up ahahahahahah.

  • Thanks for your comment. Marian is a lovely lady in every respect. She's still around !

  • marion was always sexy in my opinion and looking back she is very similar to sue lawley! her legs were on show in many of the daily episodes and nice they were too!

  • I hate the "Mark ll" thing and i hate the way she thinks it was a comedy part, she obviously know nothing about the show.

  • it's nice to look back on. I think he has the 'upper hand' against the young Marian but he's very polite with it. It does look a bit like cameraman training school (and it was live to air). Now't like like being thrown in the deep end, as they say!

  • lol i didnt say that either i didnt lies all lies :P

  • awww he seems so childish in this bless him

  • Patrick Troughton was wonderful as the Doctor. BTW, am I the only one watching bits of this interview and realized that Matt Smith took some of Troughton's quirkiness into his doctor?

  • He's definitely one of my favorite Doctors!

  • A White Guy 'Blacking up' to play Dr Who.....and they DIDDNT run with it..how strange

  • he so funny coz he goes off on a tangent and I just do not think she knows how to handle him! He is so funny and he has such a mischivious twinkle in his eye, god love him I miss him so much, I hope he is somewhere up there and realising how much he is loved, and how much he is missed.

  • he was sooooo sweet in this bless

  • patrick was always very great when he comes to local PBS station with Jon pertwee. One time it was really funny as jon and patrick were acting like little school boys on the studio's set and the Station director/manager had to settle them down a bit

  • there is a dalek in the background

  • RIP PT. Always seems such a nice man.

  • Steady on chaps - he was only an actor at the end of the day.

  • RIP Patrick Troughton. He was the first Doctor I remember. A great guy. Shame on the BBC for erasing half of the Who`s with him. Shitehawks.. He seemed ill at ease.

  • If you haven't been to the website of Loose Cannon Reconstructions, I definitely recommend it. They've pretty much pieced... well, MOST of Patrick's stories back together, and they're wonderful. If you haven't seen "The Macra Terror" and "The Faceless Ones", you're missing Patrick's Doctor at his best.

  • What I think is a shame is how much more interesting and intriguing actors can be when not playing roles. I've also had a soft spot for Marian Foster! my feeling is that Patrick didn't mind the awkwardness! - welcomed it even!

  • I regret not being alive when he was.

  • He was very awkward being interviewed, wasn't he?

  • I think he'd enjoyed some BBC hospitality - perhaps more than enough for a winter lunch!

He was a great actor though, and quite a personality. Patrick was so honest and 'up front' and almost impossible to upstage.

Its hard to judge who was in overall control of this interview (though I think Marian did a great job under the circumstances!).

  • It is a shame he is no longer with us. It is also sad that so many of his Dr Who episodes - more than half, in fact - are lost, seemingly forever...

  • He actually wasn't always this awkward - there's a video on here (or was) of Patrick hanging out with fans at a convention just hours before his death, and he's much more pleasant there.

  • But.......but, where's the scene with the monsters & that unconvincing bit with the drunken Cyberman trying to smash a window???

  • I just adore Pat Troughton... He was such a sweet man and a wonderful actor...

  • Yeah, you right there. Out of all of the Doctors, No one can say a bad thing about his performance! I love his stories so much. He is so mysterious & kind. I've just finished watching the reconstruction of Fury from the deep 2day & it doesn't dissapoint! So erie & creepy, & everyone is giving Patrick a run for his money in terms of performance! But Pat wins in the end tho of course!

If you haven't watched it, give me a message & i'll give you a link! But you better turn the light on! Scarey!!!!

  • Network have just released a ,ot of the Childrens Film Foundation films on dvd, I just got a copy of A Hitch In Time, starring none other than Patrick Troughton! Although it's a film aimed at children he does his usual excellent performance ;o)

  • THE Doctor! Ace.

    Everybody's favourite Uncle.

His son's have shone in the business.

    Pebble Mill. Ah, the quality.

Love her English accent, Newcastle/Southern mix. Nukie/Saff eh.

  • like the beard

  • I have heard that Patrick wasn't that keen on interviews, and comes across in this interview as quite a shy man. I loved him as Doctor Who, he was my absolute favourite.

  • You may well be right re. his reluctance to 'open up'. I did'nt get to work with him at all.

  • A rare TV gem being kepted alive via you tube great to see this

  • Very interesting! Thanks for posting this. Where did this recording come from. Was it recorded on an early domestic VCR?

  • Whats with the Doctor Who mk 1 & 3 bit for? Cant she say The guy who played the doctor before you?

  • Yes - a good point made !

Patrick did refer to 'Billy' (Hartnell). This was transmitted in the era of 'Dr Who mk 3' (aka - John Pertwee).

All good fun though! There's certainly some seriously messy camerawork; not to mention untidy cables appearing in shot.

  • Yeah it's fun to watch other then those parts where she says MK 1 & 3 bits.
