Good review! Yeah it's a good series and a LOT of people sleep on it! I just wish that the black characters weren't so stereotypical. Like the first guy Ippo fought. He was a good fighter, but he was just portrayed as being stupid. Then Hawk, the guy that Takamera fought was an awesome fighter, just portrayed as a street thug.

Gotta agree with you, this anime is way under rated. Personally I am not a boxing fan, I've never watched an entire boxing match in my life as far as I can remember and only seen one movie about boxing, ad that's "Rocky". However I happened to stumble upon this one a while back and Man was I blow away. This is the only anime about boxing in my collection, Great story, great action, it's freaking awesome.I always tell people about this who like fighting anime,If you hate boxing, check this out.

i love animes that show emotion and determination. Currently my favorite anime is inital d, and soon to be this too when i finish watching the series :D.

oh and you know that part when that one guy told ippo he had to do a match at the beginning of the series? I was loling so much when ippos face went from all super happy and then shocked and scared.

Now at first I was confused about what anime this was, but when I was searching it on the net I realised why Id gotten confused. Over here Ive seen one or two chapter's of the manga, and Its called Fighting Spirit. Didnt know that the anime was called this! Great review esper. Hajime no ippo is my favourite fighting/sports manga/anime. And i really dont like real boxing, but the way it is portrayed in hajime no ippo is so amazing that i wanted to start boxing myself and train like ippo. Overall it is a really amazing series and should definetely get more recognition from anime and manga fans.

Hajime No Ippo is awesome I don't know if there's going to be a season 3 on the anime so I just decided to read the manga. When I look back I can't believe that Hajime No Ippo is the 2nd longest manga in history and it's still entertaining to read I.M.O.
