  • nice works...........................

  • that trim tool was pretty sweet. i also like the shine that clay has... it makes me wanna get some. is it just a yixing clay? and is it cone 10?

  • Love the sound and the types of pots. keep it up!

  • i want a bird beek trim tool

  • You make that look so easy. I start classes on May 21. I look forward to it. It seems so relaxing and artistic

  • Obviously can't speak and throw at the same time, but the hum of the wheel is very enjoyable :-)

  • @0emk1 mmhmm yeah. i guess...

  • Nice pot. I like the color of that clay. What cone is that clay body?

  • I can say its a nice idea but its wobbly so its not really all that centered on the wheel....

  • well my ceramics prof always says, when it's done people won't be looking at it while it's spinning

  • watching someone throw pots over a wheel is really relaxing and hypnotical to watch. pottery is a great pass time and it relieves your stress.

  • nise clay pot.

  • Clay has nothing to do with cement. Ball clay is very plastic and that makes it easy to throw pots with it. Nearly all clay starts off white. Over thousands of years it becomes contaminated with iron oxide from the ground and this is what colours it red or brown or yellow. Iron oxide in the form of yellow ochre makes the clay a yellow colour. Both iron oxide and yellow ochre when fired in a kiln will give a terracotta colour like a flower pot or a house brick. The more iron the darker the color

  • what kind of clay is that? that's yellow...

  • The clay is a mixture of a Dutch clay called Vingerling and a white ball clay from Dorset in England.

Vingerling looks yellow because it contains yellow ochre. It fires to a warm red colour.

  • There's cement land in Dorset, so is it why people get white ball clay from there?

the color's pretty, looks like soft gold.

  • fascinating...

  • Because I cannot see what you are doing I can only suggest that you make sure that you are using enough clay. Don't worry if the walls of the pot are fairly thick, try to go as high as you can while keeping the same thickness from the bottom to the top of the pot. It isn't magic it's just practice, keep at it and you will do it.

  • I'm having an awful time pulling my walls...I cannot seem to get anything over 3-5 inches...any advice on how to successfully pull to get a good height while maintaining the centering of the piece?

  • That's how mothers make babies too. They squeeze until they are just right.

  • So that's how it's done. No wonder I'm a mess.

My mother must have given up too soon!

  • why is the clay yellow???

  • In most terracotta clays the iron is a red colour. The yellow clay has iron in the form of "yellow ochre" but it is still iron and fires to a normal terracotta colour

  • do u get paid alot when working as a potter? plz answer me . i really need to know

  • I suppose it's all relative. It depends on how much pottery you make, your market, where you sell, and many factors, really. But, as a general rule, no, you don't make a lot of money being a potter. But you can make enough to live on if you work hard.

  • maybe its mee but it didnt seem too centered, am i just like retarded or sumthing

  • I was originaly apprenticed as a preciision engineer where wobbles are definately not allowed. What you have been looking at is part of a two hour demonstration, unlike engineering the odd wobble is not important so don't worry about it. Regards. Alan

  • ok, its just wat it seemed like to me, but im a noobie at this!

  • won't play all the way through, got stuck

  • I tried playing it this morning and it played ok. Perhaps it's just your computer being awkward

  • won't play all the way through, got stuck

  • hi i am pottery, i looking for job ,can i have help pleause thank a lot Sonia

  • I really enjoyed watching this clip! Thanks for sharing your skill!

  • you dont strike me as someone with tremendice respect.

  • Chester if you're so talented how about some vids to share it, instead of trashing others.

Also if the age on your page is correct and you've been throwing since you were 8 years old, I seriously doubt all of the last 15 years have been dedicated to mastering pottery.

  • Your funny, cause you cannot spell tremendous

  • chill on the water though

  • Very nice. Dirty apron, but you are indeed a badass.

  • What's a badass?

  • what kinda clay is that??? i like gold

  • The clay is a mixture of a Dutch clay called Vingerling and a white ball clay from Dorset in England.

Vingerling looks yellow because it contains yellow ochre. I fire at 1160c and the colour is too dark a brown so I mix in the white ball clay to lighten it to a warm red colour.

    I add 15% 30s grog.

  • Nice, I like that credit card idea.

  • Excellent! Very well done. Thanks for posting.

  • nice pot making but wash ya apron

  • Strange, my wife keeps telling me that!
