My mom was homophobic while I was growing up, and when I realized I started having strong feelings for another guy while in high school, I fought those feelings for a good year. Then I accepted myself, and I started to feel much better since and am living a great life today. Gay marriage is not a big deal, it's about the same things you see in a straight marriage, namely love.

7xmopar, I think a lot of people were raised with careful taught ideas and beliefs, including myself. My mom was homophobic while I was growing up, and when I realized I started having strong feelings for another guy while in high school, I fought those feelings for a good year. Then I accepted myself, and I started to feel much better since and am living a great life today. Gay marriage is not a big deal, it's about the same things you see in a straight marriage, namely love.

1) Yes, many people were pro-slavery as well, that doesn't make slavery right. Populism does not equate to moral rightness.
2) There are activists for lots of things yet we don't make them all illegal. If you want gay activists out of schools than try to legislate against it, but don't invade people's lives and choices just because of your own religious paranoia.
