  • amazing!

  • So, in short, the only thing that will destroy a nuclear flask... Is a nuclear warhead? Classic! :P

  • It's all impact testing. What if someone were to hijack the flash and simply open it? duh!

  • the title of this vid should be 'train crash w/ chuck norris'

  • They should put a Panasonic Toughbook though these kinds of tests

  • That's like me opening a jar of pickles.

  • an iphone can't withstand working properly...

  • well what about drivers in semis? there gonna get fuck up if they head on into somthin

  • i want this job

  • how about trying to blow it up?

but i rly feel safe about nuclear waste transports now.

  • isn't the last crash just a train car with turbines if it is then why did they said it was a train

  • millions of dollars spent because...?

  • @Assaut19283

They need a safe way to transport nuclear waste, Were you not listening?

  • That must be one tough flask.

  • iPhone 3GS can do this. It can also survive being constantly held in a pocket with keys.

  • @satikass i bet the i phone cant withstand a collition at 100mph into a congrete wall.

  • rocket powered lorry.

  • dont they understand that the flask has feelings to.

  • First time I've ever seen a train being wrecked by something smaller than itself.

  • they really wanna test it, then put it at ground zero for a 20 mega ton H-Bomb

  • Must be some real good booze in that flask if they wana protect it so badly

  • What a whaste on some nice looking locomotives......:(

  • Poor flask, i wonder when is enough is enough for them.

  • dude a train it self going 40 mph (400 tons- 700,000 lbs) has the same Kinetic Momentum as an atomic bomb..... so that

is amazing.. why don't they use that (50 tons) flask as a shield against a bomb then....????

  • wow

  • Put it in to orbit then let it fall back down, but then again by looking at the other tests, it might survive.

  • if it was in orbit.... it would not fall tho would it? (: (Y)

  • Well, at least everyone else that gave me a thumbs up knows what I mean.

  • Shoot it with a cannon.

  • Voice is Carol Vorderman, I suspect from "Take Nobody's Word For It".

  • do it at 150mph!!

  • in the real world trucks dont go that fast

  • looks like more stable than a tank...

  • drop it from outer space

  • @evilstonedmonkey There's no gravity to pull it to Earth.

  • @SpiderRider3 that depends how far out in space you gp

  • @tylowylo12321 but if you were in *outer* space, there would be no gravity.

  • want to prove something hard? ramm a train in it!

  • Ted: hey you clocking in for work today anything good happing?

Bill: yea going to ram a Train into a wall for shits and giggles

  • What show was this taken from?

  • Some Norwegian show, I think...

  • well every try puting on a sendng in to a concrete wall on a Peterbilt379 with log trailer at 200mphs

  • poor train...

  • Comment removed

  • Then why can't they make plane's & car's outta that shit?

  • because it weighs 50 tons.... and Im betting it costs millions to make as well

  • why? it dosnt damnge shit it just protects the shit inside

  • Omg Guys Waste cant Blow

  • I don't really know why, but I fucking love videos like this.

  • fuck!! somepeople got really cool jobs!!

  • amen

  • Good to know we don't have to worry about nuclear explosions in car and train crashes O.O

  • I'm defo gonna have to get one of these nuclear flasks for my soup at work. If i drove a train at 100mph into my Thermos it would be dust. These things look hard as nails :) P.S. Carol, if you're reading this, get your knickers down love and give me a countdown conundrum!

  • LOL

  • That was cool, but what is a nuclear flask?

  • a nuclear flask is used to store waste from reactors after they are refueled

  • it was pretty sweet

  • I'll have a consonant please carol

  • from "katey1dog" ---

Give that flask to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney after a few cans of Pabst. They'll fuck it up somehow.

(I say Pabst because they don't deserve a better beer.)

  • Looks like a fun job, smashing trains and trucks into concrete walls.

  • It would be more fun to do some real tests. A terrorist would for sure use a RPG. If it is good enough to destroy a main battle tank, it is for sure good enough to destroy such a toy.

  • Or rig a few artillery shells as an IED and drive the train past it.

  • someone lose the key?

  • Thermite could take on that badboy

  • Now all they have to figure out is a way to dispose of it instead of covering it with dirt. Oh well future generations can do that.

  • only 80 mph though....

  • Only? This containers were tested to prove that they can be safely transported by truck or train. 80mph is perfect.

  • Get ye flask!

  • Give that flask to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney after a few cans of Pabst. They'll fuck it up somehow.

(I say Pabst because they don't deserve a better beer.)

  • that's awsome.

bet my ex-wife could shock it into falling apart LOL.

  • But would it survive a 50 megaton nuclear explosion?

  • omfg 1:32 imagine being the driver..

  • what about in an airplane?

  • WHATS A FLASK?????

  • a Flask is like a Container

  • alot of time and money!

  • HOLY S*@$

  • How do you get these kinds of jobs!? I want to set these tests up, anyone know where to apply?

  • i wish i knew too

  • niceeee lol..........why would they wana blow it up anyways? lol

  • makeing sure tht in an accident even nothing can get out tht will damage people and its surroundings

  • good testing now lets see you book worms crash a plane into it and put in under water and then show us great it is

  • Around 0:46, you can see the engine from the loco sailing into the air, trailing flames :-)

  • Why dont they put that flask infront of that concrete wall, and let the loco smash head on. I belive the flask will be like pancake.

  • and how often do these things happen in real life conditions??

  • Probably never, they are testing to the most extreme conditions.

  • I was replying to TheCordiaMaster who thinks he's smart since he can think of some way to crush the flask in a way which will never happen in a million years. This test, like you imply, is the worst imaginable condition which is also "realistic".

  • I think that was Maggie Philbin (tomorrow's world) doing the narration.

  • carol vorderman?

  • No, not Carol Vorderman. Footage is early eighties, Carol was only doing countdown then. The accent is different, narrator has northern accent (Manchester / Harrogate?) whereas Carol's is more home counties with a touch of west country.

  • Yes, it is Carol Vorderman

  • Unless you can justify your statement, it is merely an opinion.

  • NUKE IT!!! :)

  • lol the second one was implying, "the train was destroyed but the flask survived, who needs the person driving.. we have our flask!" lool

  • i would gladly test the anal mucles of the narrator, carol vorderman, mmmmm. aparently the water inside didnt leak at all, but they later found cracks big enough for radiation to escape. trucks- do they really need rockets to do 60mph??? i think they just wanted to strap rockets to a truck.

  • i want their job.

  • Now that would be a cool job crashing that stuff!!

  • Container survived with a few scratches. The Locomotive is destroyed, and all the passenger cars are behind it. I do think that Nuclear Power is the best way to generate electricity. Seems to work fine in Europe.

  • what in the world it survived

  • This is PRECISELY why I'm so tired of people bashing Nuclear Energy moaning about the MINUSCULAR amount of waste.

These damn casks are INDESTRUCTIBLE. Nothing short of an RPG strike is going to crack one!

  • Actually the train hit would yield tens of not hundreds of times more kinetic energy that an RPG could ever hope to deliver.

  • Well, good.

I feel EVEN BETTER than I did before.

  • i cant belive that thing is invincible

  • vorderman.......... silly lady!

  • they need to see if it could withstand the vaginal muscles of the narrator!

  • I think it could easily withstand those forces, as for survivng the anal muscles of the narrator, I'm more skeptical.

  • swedish text

  • ill sit in there on one of those tests

  • They will do ANYTHING to destroy that flask! What's next? Hurl it towards the sun and see if it still survives?

  • locomotive stilll survived!!!!

and like that willl ever happen!!

    cool vid though.

  • how can you say that? whats to say that its being transported via a truck and going across a crossroad another vehichle colides with it?

  • Poor locomotive

  • Yeah, but would that ever realistically happen. I mean, when would the flask ever be in high orbit or when would it involved in a nuclear attack and people be more worried about it. Personally, I think they would be more worried about the fact a nuclear bomb exploded that the fact that in the process a nuclear flask was destroyed.

  • That's toast!

  • Hilarious!

  • thats awesome, they should make cars with that! ps. nice crashes

  • Cars are supposed to crush to absorb as much of the crash energy as possible and spread out the deceleration pulse. Old cars didn't use to crush, turning the occupants into jello.

  • ok, i know what you mean, but they should make a box around the driver

  • Yeah that's essentially what they try to do. The only issue with hardcore reinforcement of the occupant space is the added mass then increases the total mass of the vehicle. The added mass increases the kinetic energy of the vehicle, thus requiring more to be absorbed during the crash. They try to find that balance and do a reasonably good job at it. Maybe one day they'll have the crash foam system we saw in Demolition Man :)

  • wow, you use sientific words! im only in grade 7, will i ever be that smart? iduno. anyway i dont exactly understand what you are saying, so could you please refraise that, in a way i would understand?

  • they should make planes with this

  • I could brake it with my Mazda.

  • its hopefully done by a computer

  • ofcorse the train and truck is computer controlled

  • lol there's a sort of ding sound every time something crashes.

  • soo euh...who drives those trains/trucks??

    its done by a computer?

  • cool crash!

  • Lol FINALLY a video where the train loses =D

  • hahaha nice one :P made me laugh

  • imagine being the test crew ..exciting jobs!

  • but can it survive a nuclear bomb ?

  • Nuking a nuke :s

  • LOL

  • hahahahahahaha

  • The Rocket Powered Tractor Trailer Truck is Cooler than Cool!! Would not want to be in the drivers seat for that crash. I wouldn,t be suprised if some Dumb Ass Big Rig Truck Driver thoght by putting a Rocket on his rig that he could beat a Frieght Train to the Railroad Grade Crossing. Only James Bond !!!

  • damn i guess that first train crash they didn't want to keep the engines.

  • would it hold my tea steady for a picknic

  • i wanna be in one of those flask!!! although i probably die

  • Why don't they make it bigger, put wings on it, and fly it?

It would make a great passenger plane!

    No casualties when it crashes!!

  • lol

  • THAT'S TOAST!!

  • Holy shit did you that truck being disentegrated

  • Carol Vorderman getting some early voiceover work there.

  • Impressive video!!!! :D

Does anyone knows the name of the background music where the first loc gets smashed? (the one from 00:43)

  • :22 - BLOOGE

  • that would be much tooo expensive. but brilliant

  • wow, who drive a rocket powered truck, anyways? and, why don't cars have this technology!?

  • Because even if the car is invincible, your organs will still be crushed from the sudden stop. Look at the Smart Car tests on youtube. What saves you is the size and mass of the vehicle and how it disperses the energy of impact.

  • The rocket powered truck was to get it to accelerate to 60 and 80 mph in that short distance.

  • What a way to end a loco's career.

  • that would be one bad ass job

after seeing this, i know we are safe when chemicals are transplanted.

  • Its not chemicals. its called spent reactor fuel

  • wow! Thats impressive indeed.

  • Wow, impressive.
