  • This guy is a legend. I love him. A genius. The funniest guy.

This episode is 1 of my favorites. Hancock on his own for half an hour. Bliss.

  • Hancock said to Galton and Simpson that he wanted away from East Cheam and all the other characters so they thought 'Right,we'll show him.He wants to be on his own so let him be on his own' .And it worked briliantly

  • It is tragic how so many brilliant, talented performers die early. Even at a very advanced age they would still be sought after and loved. Others that come to mind are Elvis Presley and Judy Garland, but there are many more.

  • @videofan792 The most recent being our own Amy Winehouse- some said a tragedy waiting to happen. Still unclear why/how she died. :-(

  • Does anyone recall an episode where he discovers that packets of crisps have different amounts in them, so starts a national campaign for standardisation? He wins the campaign, and then moves onto packets of corn flakes. That episode is missing from the Wikipedia list.

  • I'm American and into British comedy but I was not aware of Tony Hancock. Interesting. He reminds me a bit of Larry David with the silly musings...

  • genius!!

  • Favourite Hancock episode and not another soul in sight. This is timeless.

  • One man alone, half hour of live television, now keep the viewers fixed to the screen , pure genius, how many of todays so called comics can do that, this man was and always will be a benchmark for tv comedy.

  • @MrRazerwire - yes and how amazing there is no need to fall back on blatant sexual or bodily functions. those things are in here but nowhere near as gross, obvious, blatant and desperate as they are today.

  • one of the comic greats.

  • Lady don't fal backwards!

  • This was Tony Hancock at the high point of his career.

  • 'Pills, 'course if I'd been lookin' for pills I'da found ointment. Always my luck. Blue and yellow what are they for?'

    Hmmm how telling.

  • Absolute genius .

  • When you laugh at Hancock, you are laughing at yourself.

    Hancock portrayed EVERYMAN.

How many of us, whenever we put a few coins in a collection tin, for some charity, don't feel like we've "done our bit!"

"Leopard skin tights and a green sweater." See the continuation of this episode, and you will know what I mean.

    Marzipan!

  • youve got a right flippin nerve mate. Everyman? me? I'll fetch you such a slosh with my handbag in a minute.

  • He was a genius, and way ahead of his time!!!!!

  • Absolutely, just watch Rik Mayal in Bottom and you'll see what Hancock evolved into aswell!

  • One of the best Hancock episodes ever.

  • Thank you so much for this never seen befour i could not stop laffin

  • Will ya look at those amazing eyebrows..

This is the first show he did after the break with Sid James & East Cheam isn't it? He proved himself, he did. Galton & Simpson wrote brilliant nothings, they're some of my favourites.. like Sunday Afternoon At Home & Hancock In Hospital. And The Lift from television. A trapped situation seems to bring out the best in their humour.

Thanks for a great upload :o)

  • And now, Tony Hancock V Denis Healey in 'Battle of the Brows' :-D
