The point is, Chinese warriors were smaller, more mobile and lightly armored, anbd so their weapons were light and their fighting styles acrobatic and dextrous. European men were massive and very strong, so they preferred heavy armors and weapons. It's a matter of culture and biology.
And, I practice Kung Fu and Neijia is generally obtained after physical skills.
