It has been used to balance banking books and allowing releases of credit back into the market place... Once the profits have recouped the debts, the funds are returned to the government, with interest (see Goldman Sachs).

The politicians will spend that TARP money when they get it back. It will not be used to pay down the national debt. In fact, the TARP funds were borrowed money in the first place! So it is ludicrous for Obama to say he will use some of it for Stimulus II. It is not money, it is IOUs!

That money will not eventually hit the streets - like I said, look up Goldman Sachs - once the profits recoup their toxic debt losses, the money is returned to the US government with interest. The entire venture has saved our country from financial ruin. Obama didn't plan on coming in and running up such huge debt levels - it was a necessity and unfortunately timing for him to become President.
The TARP funds were initially used by Bush, illegally at that, not Obama.

The difference between a Surge in Iraq and a Surge in AFG is that we had a reason to be in the latter and no reason to be in the former.
Obama isn't "molly coddling" terrorists. As you yourself acknowledged, he has increased troop presence in AFG.
Whether that will do anything...don't know. AFG is very different than Iraq.
