I just bet you girls eyes were glued to the TV set with this guy shirtless asnd everything. The 70's were the greatest times for single artists to shine.
TheGlorielius100, you've been the best dancer there and the day I was allowed to follow your stepps was so wonderfull. Remember the cool one nowadays collection money on dancefloor. Lol, oh yes, 77pintoboy, this went over him one day (GM told him to return, if I remember right). Nice to read from you!
Summer between 10th & 11th grade! Started dating the "Hot" new guy at school. This was "our song". Thought it would last forever. Fortunately, so far it has!! Married 33 years-4 kids and happier than we have ever been! Maybe there is something in a song! (or is it an empty nest)?
KC and Richard Finch wrote this entirely, KC intending to record it with the Sunshine Band with himself on vocals. It was too high pitched for him to do the way he wanted it to sound, so they were going to give it TK Studio session singer Gwen McCrae - but she was late for the session so her husband George ended up doing the solo instead. George had nothing to do with the writing or arrangement - he just came in and did the vocals as directed.
Oh yes, George's vocal was just excellent - chance here worked a total win.
I can just imagine what it must have been like in the TK studio after he'd laid this down. Something like KC saying: "Ya know, I think this one just might be a hit.." (followed by the sound of an enormous line of coke getting hoovered up off the mixing desk).
Hey hey...here I am again listening to that song which came out when i was 9...I like Rammstein also so imagine...Isn't good music magic? No need for more proof....

He complained that he was number one across the world with "Rock Your Baby" and yet he had no money to show for it. "Stop whingeing," his boss said to him. "See that Cadillac out in the parking lot? Here's the keys, it's yours and I don't want to hear another word about money from you." As McCrae took the keys and headed towards the car, Dannen expressed outrage that a star could be treated in that way.
But few of the rip-offs and litigation tales, the posthumous scraps and legal shenanigans, can match the case related by Frederick Dannen in his book Hit Men. It referred to George McCrae, a soul singer who few could blame if he had sought legal advice. Dannen was interviewing McCrae's record company boss on another matter when the singer himself burst into the office.
I have an American import LP gathering dust in my loft which features a 10 minute version of this absolute classic. Nobody held a note like George McCrea in the 1970s. Just love it.
I remember 1974...What a kick ass year for music! This song (and others) were all over the A.M. radio dials! Do you remember that little car speaker under the front dashboard? Ha! We would turn up the car radio so loud listening to stuff like this that the speaker would sound so terribly distorted! And after a while the speaker would rot out and vibrate something awful...But we didn't care...Life was so good in '74!
