Amazing performance. Pat to me is is just having fun; out of tune- probably but perhaps it is for an effect? I have to admit im not used to hearing pat with OD. Gary is a Fu***** monster! Love the dampening and overall phrasing. His control is amazing.
I have never seen Pat Metheny play an out of tune guitar until now. Maybe it might have been a little out at times but he tuned it during the song. Pat is clearly tuned sharp to the rest of the band. Guess he wanted it to be that way, he surely can hear the difference.

Re: out of tune... yes, Pat is out of tune a bit. The G or B string seems to have slipped a bit. He was a bit out of tune with himself. Oh well, that happens on a live show. He tempered it quite well during his solo, so all I can say is DANG!!
They all sounded great. Wish I could've been at that show.
Oh wow... I bet Metheny played with zero rehearsal... Metheny gives respect to GW at the end of his solo do you notice... @ 5:30... Great tune and fun. PM's tone reminds me of his Imaginary Day Roots of Co-incidence track which is great.
You could fry eggs on that. Smoking hot. The more I see Pat play 'outside', the more I get it, and then it doesn't seem unusual at all. As for being out of tune, I think the explanation of the digital delays and the mixing console makes more sense than anything else. Sometimes what is in tune sounds out of tune, and vice versa.
This was about two hours from the beginning of the concert. Pat had played "Beyond the Missouri skies" complete. Then he had played with Diego Amador, after that with Kepa Junkera, and with Javier Colina.
By this time with Llibert and the others, he was just having fun and letting it go.
No one is out of tune? How long has gary and Pat being playing to be out of tune?? Even if they were they would fix it, The sax, bass, guitar are prob playing in dif octaves, also they all sound diff because of the effects
Do you think that the best musicians in Jazz that play and practise all their live don´t know what they are actually doing. If they do something it is on purpose.
I think Metheny is out of tune as you can listen while Willis solos it sounds like Willis seems out ouf tune. But on fretless you can play any pitch - and Willis can!
And Pats solo is the worst ever by him. You can see him struggle and play just anything to get time stretched...
He sounds in tune to me. Perhaps Spider is mistaking the distortion settings that Methaney is using for being out of tune? That aside, this is a gorgeous piece. Is it a Willis composition?
i try to explain that: Pat uses two Lexicon Prime Time digital reverb, one set to 13 millisecond delay, the other one to 26 millisecond. this is the electronic joke. the acoustic one is that the effect of both mixed up together is to obtain a sort of natural chorus, that is mixing two different delayed sounds with different phase. But it is clear that a non-correct set up from mixing console results in tails on reverbered sound that adds with direct sound, resulting in out of tune effect
the point is that the tune is tonally complicated, the sax is slightly out of tune and, as often happens, jazz players play "strange" to prove their able to play in a weird way. they think the most complicated is, the most expert they appear. so the saxophonist pretend to do more than he can, i think. guitar is in tune, listen while soloing with bass, you can notice they both play in tune. other delicate aspect is that mister metheny reverb is half electronic and half acoustic

Funny how much an out of tune guitar (shape up Pat) well and truly fucks up the sound of such an amazing band :o)

Coldplay, I agree - some guys are sitting on their ears. Pat's solo the worst ever, come on! Maybe you should start to listen to some serious jazz...

el director vale POYA ! pico como decimos en chile
en casi 1 minuto medio del solo de Gary , recién lo enfoca,
buena calidad de imagen , pero es una falta de respeto a estos músicos juntos en un mismo escenario.
He dicho.
